Not only did Metallica do a cover of this song, James Hetfield sang this song live with Queen.
Now we’re talking! Some real good kick a$$ heavy album rock that Queen can belt out !! 🎸
Yes they did! Seent it! It’s such an amazing performance by everyone on stage and such a heartfelt performance in memory of Freddie!!!! James did this song justice on both the recorded and the live version you’re speaking of. They should do a reaction video to that version!
Damn i never knew that!! thats so cool!
Metallica did It before Freddy died...
@Nicholas Hall yeah, there's a reason that Metallica was at / James Hetfield sang with Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
Queen is probably the most versatile band that ever existed. They're all over the map, genre wise. Amazing band.
Queen had lots of songs that were basically proto heavy metal, most weren't singles so this influence they directly had on heavy metal some times gets overlooked. They ruled.
The whole of the Sheer Heart Attack album is stunning from.start to finish.
All their albums are great!
QUEEN LIVE KILLERS
That's where it all shines!
My favorite is News of the World, but there's no such thing as a second hand Queen album.
@@IisDeeps love that album too.
Sheer Heart Attack is, and always has been, my favorite Queen album.
"Keep Yourself Alive" & "I want It All' are 2 of my faves!!
This is the first Speed Metal song. Metallica does a great cover of this.
YES THEY DO!!!!! I thought this was an original Metallica song until I much later found out it was a cover of a Queen song!!!! Metal as fuck!!!! This band was something special 4 shoooooooo
Metallica won a Grammy for their cover of this song.
Great cover.
There’s nothing “speed metal” about this song. 🤣
I have the Metallica one on good old CD :P It is soooo good.
Queen were so innovative they gave us the first example of speed metal in 1974. Do yourselves a favor & watch them do this live at the Rainbow. Freddie's outfit alone is worth it. Lex would love it & I think Brad would enjoy the live version too.
Better yet, do another reaction & let us enjoy it with you! I love early Queen!
💙☮💙
Yep...! Old school metal heads love Queen.
Every single song on this album is pure FIRE!
This is their best album. I don't even think it's close.
She makes me
One of the best things about Queen is the fact that so many of their songs ARE different sounding. For yet another different sounding Queen song, you gotta listen to “Bring Back That Leroy Brown”. Trust me, it’s different…and in a good way!
It's plain to hear in this song why Queen are considered among the godfathers of hard rock/metal.
The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke is Freddie describing a painting he saw and its a hidden Queen gem .
Queen II as a whole is amazing
Probably my favorite Queen album all in all. This track was from 1974 and was basically the blueprint for thrash metal.
You guys described it perfectly Queen's sound is different every song. It's one of the reasons they are my favorite. You can go from Pre-Thrash style like Stone Cold Crazy to 50's style with Crazy little thing called love and literally everything in-between. You could do an entire Queen night and get different genres every song.
This is true, however the instruments (including vocals) always sound like Queen, regardless of style.
Brian May's Red Special through a Vox AC30 especially, is unlike any other guitar tone.
@@bucklberryreturns Yea, May's tone is one of my all time favorite guitar tones. And its a good candidate for the most recognizable guitar tone ever.
@@moonlitegram It sure is. The old coin as a pick will have fair influence too.
@@bucklberryreturns eh, I've used a coin plenty of times as a pick when I didn't have a guitar pick handy, as I think have just about any guitarist. It doesn't really do anything to your sound. It can make it a little easier to do pinch harmonics, and depending on your overall set up and settings, you might be able to pick up a slight difference in the way the coin sounds making contact with the strings vs the pick. But the overall tone of your guitar isn't really going to be affected.
The tone of your guitar is going to mainly come from your pick ups, your amp, your pedals etc.
SHEER HEART ATTACK is Queen's BEST album. From beginning to end... brilliant. Next up: "Brighton Rock." "Killer Queen," "Now I'm Here" and "She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes)" are all BRILLIANT.
To me easily their best album. Not so commercial which means better music !
She makes me is honestly one of my top 5 favs
For a completely different Queen sound you haven't yet heard, try one of their fun little songs like "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" or "Seaside Rendezvous" - not at all like anything you've heard so far!
There aren't two songs on Opera that sound alike. In fact most of their early albums are that way.
Yes! Completely opposite to this one. Love both of those.
Indeed! Or Bring Back That Leroy Brown.
OOps..i posted before i read your comment Lynn....exactly the same
Best Queen album by far
Queen has it's share of hard rock songs... 'Tie your mother down' ... 'Headlong' ... 'Hammer to fall' ... 'Keep yourself alive'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
The very first, what we now call, Thrash Metal song. Metallica did a cover of this song, might want to check it out.
Yep
Godspeed for the most astonishing Voice ever heard in Rock Music.
You guys should react to…
Queen - Innuendo
🎸🤘
You should check out Sheer Heart Attack (the song) that were actually on the News of the World album. Fast Queen with Roger Taylor singing. He's also doing a great job on I'm In Love with My Car
Written by Roger but sung by Freddie tho.
Spread your Wings is an early Queen song which is my personal favorite. I think you and your audience will love it.
When Queen wanted to rock they were great at it. This was the stuff that 1st got me hooked on them.
Nice reaction! Stone Cold Crazy is officially known as the first trash metal song, this is very influential song. But you guys have to see it live, Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974, it is better live. It is nice that you guys finally did one of Queen's harder rocking numbers, I suggest, I Want It All - Queen, you guys will definitely enjoy it. Queen always did hard rocking songs as well, listen Innuendo from their last album, a harder rocking masterpiece.
Great suggestions, I Want It All and Innuendo, they will like those!
Live at the Rainbow is amazing, I saw that tour when it came to the states. Those guys were hard rock and heavy metal pioneers in their early days and had tremendous influence to this very day. Do Liar, Son & Daughter and Modern Times Rock n Roll from that show and be amazed! Enjoy. 🎸
"That is so Queen!" Yup, and 'nuff said.
"It's late" from Queens album News of the world is life changing
Man Queen are so refreshing. Like an island breeze on a hot day. Great choice and honest review. Check out Prince's of the universe next 👍
Queen started as an early Heavy Metal band, 1974 they released "Queen II", and later that same year the Album "Sheer Heart Attack", which marked a transition...true to their roots but slightly less niche, more mainstream. The following year "A Night at the Opera"....that had the single "Bohemian Rhapsody"...ground breaking ! the rest is history.
Queen also did a punk song called: SHEER HEART ATTACK...also react to NOW I'M HERE, live at Wembley...so so so high energy.
As well as THE MIRACLE, such a positive song for some one who knew he was going to die,,,plus there's a cute surprise
One of the first speed metal songs!!
Early queen is really something else. Their first records are a bliss. Queen 2 and Sheer Heart Attack were ground breaking albums just before the whole thing exploded into A Night at the Opera and A day at the Races. After that they developed the more conventional, commercial stuff for the American and Japanese markets. They should have stopped in 1977 but they didn't. Thank you for this reaction.
I agree with you there early stuff was amazing but they had to change there style to atract a larger audience, there music back then was ahead of it's time
"then the vocals would sound just like another musical instrument"
NOW YOU BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND MUSIC
If you want to hear Queen's early stuff, take a listen to their first album. Songs like "Seven Seas of Rhye", "Great King Rat" and "Liar" are true masterpieces for their time.
I'd be fascinated to watch Brad & Lex react to Liar and, even moreso, The March of the Black Queen. I'm sure that would blow their socks off!
"Seven seas of rhye" might be my all time favourite queen song.
My fairy king, mad the swine and fairy feller's Master stroke
By my considered to be the first proto-speed-metal song.
One of the 1st thrash songs ever written. Before thrash existed.
This is one of Queen's heaviest songs - it is quite early in their career. Metallica covered this song later - it's seen as being like early Heavy Metal (or even Speed Metal)
That is so Queen and it´s soooooo good. One of the best!!
Such a amazing track, like you said each queen song is so different to last on you heard. James Hetfield sang this with Queen at Feddies tribute concert in the 90s
When I was about 15, doing my homework at the dining room table & my late older brother, Bill. Tossed the Sheer Heart Attack album on the table for me. I was a Queen fanatic and didn’t hVe that album. Sometimes I think it was their best album with Brighten Rock, Noel’s I’m here, Tenement Funster, lilly of the valley & of course In the lao of the gods 1 & 2).
any song from this album makes me tear up, thinking of my late brother ( he introduced me to Zeppelin , Sabbath, the Doors, Pink Floyd) as any coolest older brother would.
To avoid any confusion, they did a track called Sheer Heart Attack which doesn't appear on the Sheer Heart Attack album. This comes from News Of The World in 1977
Sheer Heart Attack album released in 1974 🔥🔥 Pure fire 🔥🔥
They are heavy and hot! Early queen. Great album.
This is a type 5 Queen song for me.
Great. loved it when it first came out. Yes it probably is the forerunner of a certain style of music to come out years later.
I have never heard that before. What a trip.
Mid to late 70's Queen is my fav stuff. Sheer Heart Attack to Jazz is kick-ass stuff.
"That is so Queen.." lol
Been waching your queen journey and its been refreshing to seectwo people who appreciate the musical creativity and harmony this band had. I would request you react to a double double header doing two studio versions that will truly illustrate the genius of Freddie Mercury. The first a track called " bring back that leroy brown" a queen tongue in cheek tribute to old time jazz Charleston...yescthey even do that. The second, " you take my breath away"
3rd album my favorite & first once also excellent
My favourite album, sheer heart attack ❤
Gotta do Metallicas cover of this now!
YES, early, hard rocking Queen! For similar rocking tunes try Liar, Keep yourself Alive and Ogre Battle to start, they have many great tunes in all phases of their career. Rock On & Enjoy! 🎸
NOW, James Hetfield and Queen version of stone cold crazy!!!
Early Queen. When I was a kid I had a big Queen poster on my wall. Thoroughly enjoyed their first four albums and seeing them live was one of my early concert experiences. When I heard later in my 20s that Freddie was gay, i first thought "what, no".....then "well, I guess".....and then "ok, I guess that's obvious". We just didn't think about such things much then.
Early 70's Queen is the best Queen.
1974. Third album. First ever speed metal song. They invented this genre.
Another song from this album that doesn't sound like your typical Queen song, one that was also a breakthrough in terms of composition for the era (particuIarly the solos) and definitely one you should react to is Brighton Rock.
If you want to hear their Punk Rock side, react to Sheer Heart Attack. Oddly enough, the album was named after this song (and it was part of the list of songs for the album) but ended up not being included due to not being finished the way Roger Taylor, the drummer, intended and was only released 3 years later on the album News Of The World. The song was composed and played in its entirety by Roger with a little help from Brian May on the guitar parts.
Both songs showcase their versatility and are definitely worth your time. 🙂
You should have done the live version from 1974 Live at the Rainbow.
This is where Queen invented thrash metal.
Another unique song by Queen is Good Company off the Night at the Opera album. It starts with vocals and a ukulele and goes full bore dixieland jazz by the end.
This song is in the Cruella soundtrack. If you guys haven't seen that movie yet, I would highly recommend. It has a fantastic soundtrack.
You wanna hear something different from Queen, listen to the album A Night at the Opera.
On the album this follows an operatic track. After this it goes into something slow a classical singer might sing but is even shorter than this, that's followed by an upbeat 80's style pop song that George Michael would be proud of. Yeh, it varies a bit!
Metallica does a fantastic cover of this song.
I’ll say it. 🖕Metallica
@@wizartr0n Bunch of stupid millionaires who killed Napster, I agree. Also they're more 'fake hard' than 80s gangsta rap.
@@antimonycup7066 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Metallica haters are the worst.
Yup....!
This song is so heavy ... Metallica covered it and plays it live on every concert! ;-)
Btw: There is an official Queen-Remix by "Trent Reznor" ... this version is very heavy!!!
P.S.: Or watch -> Queen feat. James Hatfield (Metallica) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath)
Metallica's version next is a must!🤘👍
From the same album as, 'Bring Back That Leroy Brown.' A completely different sound/genre!
My first love was this album.
This was from Sheer Heart Attack, their third album ,released 1974, and my fav Queen album..'Now I'm Here' and 'Brighton Rock' are, arguably ,the stand out tracks, but, as others have said, the whole album is great. To give a bit of context, Bohemian Rhapsody was from their next album, A Night At The Opera,1975. Like a bit of different? Try Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon or Seaside Rendezvous from this album.
This album was great, but such a different feel for how folks hear Queen!!!! Sheer Heart Attack has a very similar feel as this song.
Yey, one of my favorite Queen songs! The amazing thing about Queen is that they have all different styles & genres, yet they unmistakably ALWAYS sound like Queen.
Agree between Freddie's voice and Brain unique sound from his guitar is a trademark of Queen
This is like Queen’s version of thrash metal in a sense
What are you talking about? Metallica covering this doesn´t make this any kind of thrashy. This is normal high tempo rock.
More like Speed Metal. Of which Thrash is partially influenced.
@@ahmo2 obviously I’m just saying for the time during the 70’s it’s kinda thrash/speed metal of that era.
@@ahmo2 it’s considered the first proto-thrash metal song
@@jakfrost25 Yeah, why? It has nothing to do with metal. It doesn´t sound like thrash at all. Let´s say Elvis sounds like proto-Ministry. How about that?
And this is where motley crew found their sound!
personally I still think Queen II is their best album
This is Queen's most badass song in my opinion.
Short and sweet.
Queen huge influencers in the music industry!! Metallica did the cover of this song which earned them a Grammy! Axl Rose of Guns n Roses said Queen was his fav rock band. Michael Jackson was a big fan of Freddie & went to Queen concerts at the Forum. The Foo Fighters inducted Queen into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Queen inducted Def Leppard into the Hall … Eddie Van Halen worked with Brian May on the Star Fleet project. Steve Vai & Cozy Powell played with the Brian May Band. Freddie & Elton John were good friends as was David Bowie!
I could go on & on …..
So far ahead of their time. And yes when Metallica covered it the time was right. It's like Queen made this to show them the way.
Great song
2 songs that will blow your socks off... :Sheer Heart attack" and "It's Late".😎
Mettalica's version ROCKS!
My favourite Queen album is the first, just titled Queen. There are great tracks on it. Liar. Great King Rat, Keep Yourself Alive, Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll.
Poets of the Fall - Where Do We Draw the Line. It is my favorite song out of all their albums.
You will love “Bring back that Leroy Brown” song off this same album!!!! Check it out!!!!
I saw Queen in Sydney a few years back. Next morning, one of the critics was like, "What the hell was Queen doing covering that Metallica song". Jesus, I nearly died.
🤣🤣🤣 Yup. Some people are so clueless 🤘🤘
So many hits from these guys...makes me wan't to point you to a song from them called "Cool Cat"......amazing vibe!!!!
People have a way of suggesting the wrong songs from an album.
Tenement Funster/Flick of the Wrist/Lily of the Valley. Play them without lifting.
When Queen attempted different genres of music they nailed it every time. In my opinion their hardest rocking song is Tie Your Mother Down. You guys should check it out. Brad will obsess on the lyrics and Lex will just love the way it sounds.
Keep yourself alive was queen's first hit. That's also a different queen sound
From there album Sheer Heart Attack. Ironically there biggest hit from this album was the song Killer Queen. Which has a completely different feel from the rest of the album
love this....as much as I love Metallica..much thanks for throwing out the pure original!!!!!
You have to do this Live at the Rainbow!!!!
More queen please
I'm sure if Freddie were around today, he'd be rappin' with the best of 'em.
Just figured out what I love about you two! Like myself you are stereotype busters! Back in the day, If you listened to metal, or country, or hip hop, or new wave, or punk, or rock, or rap... you were expected to look, dress, act, in accordance with those genres. None of that matters, just that a song "hit's" you and you like it! I was a Jock that hunts and fishes, but liked Rush, Metallica, Triumph, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys.... Good music is good music, doesn't matter what others think of you for liking it!
*This is from their 1974 album titled "Sheer Heart Attack." I had it...try Brighton Rock from the same album.*
Birth of thrash metal
Watch the Video. It's a live performance.
Early queen had alit hard rock songs. This is their third album
