@@bluebell3720 Yes. If you want to hear how he sounded months before he passed check out "Mother Love", "You Don't Fool Me", and "A Winter's Tale". The vocals from those songs were recorded about 6 months before he passed.
It was one of the last songs Freddie Mercury completed before his death in 1991... it was a 'goodbye' song cos Queen knew that the band was over once Freddie was gone. They finished recording 2 albums - 'The Miracle' in 1989 and 'Innuendo' in 1991... Freddie appeared in the music video for 'These are the days of our lives' and it was his final appearance on camera. By that point, he was thin, frail and could hardly move like he used to... his mustache was gone. 'The show must go on' was released as a single in the fall of 1991 as he was on his deathbed. It was chosen as the final single deliberately and closed the 'Innuendo' album. Freddie passed away in November.
"These are the days of our lives" I can't get through that video, or song in general, without bawling my eyes out. Freddie was one of a kind. Doing what he loved, until he couldn't anymore, is truly an inspiration. The show must go on.
I love this song written by Brian. He never intended to have Freddie sing this song because this was when Freddie was already very sick. This was Brian feeling the impending loss of the band as Freddie's health kept deteriorating. Freddie kept coming into the studio asking for stuff to sing and that the rest could do whatever they wanted later with the tracks, so Brian gave Freddie this one. Freddie really kills this song as does the rest of the band.
he asked for songs..was after they released Innuendo and they were working on solo work this was for Innuendo album yes it was intended for Freddie to sing Brian couldn't sing it he had to sing some parts in falsetto he couldn't manage it in chest voice. that's why he said to Freddie it might be too diff even for you in chest voice

If i am correct , i think he hits a D5 in his chest voice during the end , not an A5 But i am damn sure he could go far beyond an A5 during even that stage of his career
He hits a D5 with his chest voice. No man can hit an A5 with his chest voice, but he hits an extremely difficult A5 with his falsetto in the song Under Pressure (that one "why" were he starts low and goes slowly and successively higher and higher).
This is my favourite Queen song of all time!!!One of the last songs Freddie sang, it was written about his illness and how no matter how they felt 'The Show Must Go On' You can feel the bands pain in this track and it always fills me with such powerful emotions!!! Thank you for reacting to this track!!! 'These Are The Days' music video shows how Freddie illness had affected him and he ends the song with the words 'I Still Love You' It's a beautiful moment!!!
@@nightowl5395 what an amazing song that is!! The live version of Brian May playing it with just his guitar and Freddie Mercury on the big screen is stunning!
@@JustaGuy2.0 yes, that song is also very heart felt and emotional. The fact that Freddie, Brian & Rodger take turns on the lead vocals makes it that extra special.
Brian may ( guitar player) wrote this , about freddy being sick , apparently freddy sang it in one take .. he was very sick they did it to keep him busy . His very last song or day of work was a song / video. ( days of our lives) he looked very bad in that or thin and weak . He was sitting during the video.
this was for their Innuendo album The Show Must Go On" came from Roger and John playing the sequence, and I started to put things down. At the beginning, it was just this chord sequence, but I had this strange feeling that it could be somehow important, and I got very impassioned and went and beavered away at it. I sat down with Freddie, and we decided what the theme should be and wrote the first verse. It's a long story, that song, but I always felt it would be important because we were dealing with things that were hard to talk about at the time, but in the world of music, you could do it.[9] - Brian May - 1994 the theme was about a broken hearted clown who painted on his smile and the show went on! same theme that "Vesti la giubba" was based on which Freddie based his intro for hard life on the bridge was inspired by Pachelbels canon which seems more Freddie than Brian in an other interview he said they spent the afternoon together completed the first verse and had enough material to finish the last two verses which implies they had done more than just the first verse he said he added the butterfly line later Richard suggested a chord change
Hi Shane, Just a little FYI: Freddie didn't actually sing the WHOLE song in one take; that's a common misconception. When Brian was talking about Freddie singing in-one-take, he was specifically talking about the really HIGH part near the end of the song. Brian was afraid the high notes would hurt Freddie's throat. Fred said "I'll F____g do it, Darling!"... he took a drink of vodka and then sang the high part all in one take.
His very last song (as in vocal performance) was "Mother Love", recorded between 13-16 May 1991, and released in 1995. As Brian explains it, they recorded the first two verses but when they got to the last verse "he [Freddie] said 'I'm not up to this, and I need to go away and have a rest, I'll come back and finish it off...' and he never came back". Brian sang the final verse himself. Days of our Lives was his last video though. :)
Yes, this is about Freddie trying to keep going despite his illness. He just wanted to make music until the end. The video is all clips used to best make sense with the lyrics because Freddie was too sick to make any more videos (you're right). There are so many videos and songs you have yet to react to. Many more videos than were shown. It's about both - the show must go on until Freddie's death, as well as after Freddie's death. One of my favourite lyrics is here - "my soul is painted like the wings on butterflies". Now butterflies make me think of Freddie 🦋❤
From Wikipedia, When the band recorded the song in 1990 Mercury's condition had deteriorated to the point that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. May recalls; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal".
"My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies, fairy tales of yesterday grow old but never die, I can fly my friends!" - this songs always tears at my heart 😢 RIP Freddie, still the greatest rock frontman for me.
This song always moves me to tears, the defiance in his voice, refusing to give in meekly to the inevitable, prepared to give his all, to his last breath almost, doing what he was put on this Earth to do. Simply amazing. He knew it was a battle he couldn’t win but he was most definitely not going to go gentle into the good night rather he was raging against the dying of the light. Apologies for my rather clumsy paraphrasing of Dylan Thomas, but that’s essentially what I take from the song and performance.
This song was a released in October of 1991, a month before Freddie's death. The video compilation was released this way to also showcase the Greatest hits 2 release with the video collection of the hits from 1981 to 1991 as a visual ending to the Greatest Flix video release as it was called. It was absolutely a finale song, so Lex you are spot on with your analysis.
Well, the song was released as a single in October, but before that it was the closing track on the "Innuendo" album, which had been released as early as February.
And the song was recorded in 1990 as was the rest of the Innuendo album. Three tracks that ended up on Made in Heaven were the last ones Freddie recorded in 1991.

I love this Haunting Song, it takes me right back to being a 19 year old. I had only months earlier started a job as a housekeeper at a local hotel, that job lasted 10 years. We were allowed to watch television during our work days so long as it did not interfere with our work. MTV was a huge part of my life at the time being that it was heavily about music. On Nov 23, 1991 Freddie Mercury announced to the world that he was suffering from AIDS, the rumors were true. On Nov 24th it was anounced that Freddie had succumbed to the illness. I still remember having to sit down and take it all in. It was a somber day that I will always remember. This song had been realeased about a month before, it will always stand as a bookmark to me, of that point in time. What a Time, what a Man!
Freddie Mercury was larger than life... his presence on stage like no other, this song brings a tear to my eye for what was lost . At least I can say I saw him in the flesh doing what no other could do...
I remember seeing Queen near the beginning, Seven Seas Of Rhye had just been released, and I followed their journey to the end. Their songs in the final months of Freddies life were powerful and sad with perhaps the saddest being the final one Mothers Love. A great great band the likes of which will never be seen again.
I think you have to watch and listen to "These are the days of our lives" to see Freddie at the end, when he is frail and hardly able to stand but able at the end to look into the camera and say to the world "I still love you" a truly heart breaking moment
Yes that was his "goodbye" video to the fans. There's behind the scenes clips of that video which are colorized and you can tell that would be his last performance.
My advice is to keep ...Days of Our Lives...until you've seen everything else. It's heartbreaking and once seen, is difficult to forget. You'll get to it, but don't be in a hurry.
The song is picture of Freddie's life. Inside he was sick and dying but he still always put on the smile and carried on being Freddie Mercury until the end. If you watch the video for These are the days of our lives it will break your heart. Seeing what is just a shell of the man that Aids destroyed. I have to admit it scared the shit out of me. It really made me take a look at my own risky behavior and change my life. So thank you Freddie. Your life made a difference and your suffering was not in vain. Many of us who were paying attention got the message loud and clear.
This song still makes me cry after 30 years. Fred knew his HIV had progressed to full blown AIDS and that his time was almost up. Even so, he POWERED this vocal out and delivered a final masterpiece and his farewell to us all. God, I'm in tears typing this, we love you Freddie, and we miss you every day. Rest In Peace you absolute legend ❤❤❤
It was not only toward the end of Freddy's career, but he was already well aware that AIDS was taking his life. This was one of the last songs he ever recorded, and his bandmates have said in interviews that they weren't sure he was going to be able to actually sing (as he looked so frail and ill). Boy, did he step and deliver, though.
And the show still rolls on and on for many decades to come. He was in acute pain especially with his feet but he didn't want to let the other band members or his fans down, a real true artist till the end. The Show Must Go On and On.
I remember hearing this sone when he passed and its quite heartbreaking with Freddie knowing and also singing that "Ill soon be turning around the corner now". If what people here in the comments write is true that he was so frail when recording this it certainly isnt noticable since no one could ever have done it better and you can really feel it is for real and not just any old song.
Quite possibly my favourite Queen song, heartbreakingly beautiful. Always get emotional when I hear it. Even in the full throws of his illness Freddie absolutely nails the vocals as always ♥️
Freddie was ill he had good days and not so good days, Brian May the lead guitarist approached Freddie and said I’ve written a new song do you think you’re well enough to sing, Freddie replied yes darling and took a drink of Vodka and sang the song in one take, Freddie always wanted to make songs until he was unable to sing anymore! Absolutely amazing performance and great reaction thanks 🙏
When they recorded this, Freddie was so ill he was propped up against a console desk. Brian May thought the vocals might be too hard to actually manage (Adam lambert has said it’s their hardest track), Freddie apparently said ‘Fûck it, I’ll do it darling’, downed a large vodka then went for it. He sounds amazing and it’s my favourite song of all time.
This was written by Brian May. Freddie Mercury's goodbye song was the song on The Miracle album called "Was It All Worth It". Freddie Mercury's doctors said he was supposed to die in 1989, which was the year The Miracle album was released
Yea, if anything was ever a goodbye song, this would be the one. Freddie performed this song and "Who wants to live forever" like a couple of weeks before he died. Such an amazing artist and such a voice. He was very ill towards the end and in really bad shape, his body had basically just withered away and he looked really fragile... But it didnt put a single dent in his voice, his last performances were as magnificent as he always made them. Its absolutely unreal how he could performe like that in that condition. The true form of a legend, "The show must go on". Its so sad. But at least we get to live in a world and time where he did once exist and all the masterpieces he left behind. Rest in Peace Freddie, you god damn legend ❤🙏
Just found this reaction .. hell yeah. My favorite queen song all time .. to think he was dying when he recorded this powerful song .. true testament to Freddie 💯.. love n respects to you 2 always 💯✌️❤️🙏
Brian May is such a great songwriter. There is so much feeling in his songs and of course, Freddie is the perfect (passionate) instrument to deliver the song. I agree with a commentator below that there will never be a band like Queen again. 4 truly talented musicians with such great chemistry live. Their voices (Freddie, Brian & Roger) blended so perfectly together. Rogers' Days of Our Lives was written for his kids, but when Freddie sings it, it becomes his vehicle to acknowledge the fans one more time--so touching.
Hey Brad and Lex, first time commenting lol. I love checking in on your channel, so many incredible artists! Freddie WAS The Greatest Showman! He put everything into his performances. His heart, his soul, his blood, his sweat his tears. Everything. Even when he knew he was a goner, he put the last of himself into this. And he did it al for us. His fans. His Show Must Go On, even after he's gone.
very beautiful song with an incredible emotional power, especially when you understand the lyrics and you know that he sang it when he was sick and aware that it was the end for him what courage!!!! RIP Freddie Mercury we miss you!! ps: I cried like a baby when I listened to this sound 😥😥😥
Freddie was in bad health and dying when this was recorded so Queen opted to use footage from all their past music videos and live performances for this official music video. It’s definitely one of the last few goodbye songs Freddie Mercury sang in his last months. Great reactions! If you want to see a great recapturing of all Queen’s old music videos, you should react to Freddie Mercury’s solo video for “The Great Pretender”. It’s part of his solo work he done in between Queen’s albums. He recreates all of Queen’s popular videos and the 4 or 5 solo album videos too.
Not just the end of his career- the end of his life- amazing he had the strength the even do this- the final song he was able to complete before his passing- church out the song AND VIDEO of “Days of our life..” And then.. “Mother Love”, 😔-in which he went til he literally no longer could..and just could not make it back to finish the final verse ..which I believe it was Brian May finished for him- and then not long at all after.. Gone too soon- R.I.P. Freddie Mercury
Was awestruck seeing "Killer Queen" recently. A no.1 Queen tribute band. 2 hours of pure Audio & Visual pleasure. RUclips them. Go to a concert 🎶 of theirs. Leas singer remarkably looks like Freddie. Un freakin' believable. Emotional song! 😢
It breaks my heart to know how sick he was and still gave it all... , never expecting any pity, just wanted to do what he loved till the end., showed us how strong the human spirit can be....Forever in our hearts.❤️
I’ve listen to just this song and some podcasts but mainly this song for the past two weeks. If I’m not listening to it, it’s in my head playing word for word instrumental and everything.
Mercury made the show go on. He knew he was dying but didn't want anyone to know. He wanted to keep on singing because that's what his purpose was. To sing. To keep the fans happy. The ultimate artist he was, right til the end.
It is almost unbelievable what freddie was capable of with his voice when he was already very ill. I am always impressed by his strength, determination and perseverance listening to this song. "I have to find the will to carry on" and Freddie has found it, he sang, sang and sang until he could, Mother Love was his last recorded song, but he couldn't finish it. He was a musician and performer from top to toe.
Freddie Mercury sang this song after a shot of vodka while on death's door in one take. It was the band's good buy to him and they didn't know if he was able to sing anything they could use, but Freddie wanted to keep recording so while he was in the hospital they lived in the recording studio so they could be ready if he came in.
I remember vividly when I heard that he had passed. I was working nights and went into the break room at 6:30am (nobody else in the building) when MTV announced that he had died and then they followed with this video. I still get choked up when I hear it and I think of that moment.
He was very sick when he recorded this that he could barely stand up. The others weren't sure if he even would be able to do it. Freddie said "I'll fucking do it, darling.", downed some vodka and, as you can hear, killed it. Brian May, the guitarist, wrote the song about what Freddie was going through. It's my absolute favorite Queen song and imo the best he ever did vocally. Amazing how he could sound like that when he was so sick. ❤❤❤
When asked about what would he like to happen to his legacy, and his reply was typically Freddie. "I don't care what you do Darling, Just Don't make me Boring"
one of the last songs of Freddie Mercury before his death, and such a good and strong sounding song! It always makes me want to cry when i hear it, its such emotion and good music at the same time, with a epic guitar solo from Brian May, its 100% sure it has to be played at my funeral (in a far away future, lol), because it would sound great in a church, lol...
R.I.P.Freddie...the Greatest Singer/Entertainer in Music History.......and damn, what a Tribute Video Collection !When Freddy recorded it,he knew,he would Die soon.....
This man was so full of talent, you just can't find brilliance like this anymore in the music industry, especially now in the 21st century where singing skills and creativity are practically nonexistent.
This song was from the last album recorded in Freddie's lifttime, but Freddie was recording songs on his deathbed, a few years later. "Made in Heaven", a decent farewelll album for the band with old recording from all of them in their solo days. Of course there were new songs too though.
I can't say this is my favourite Queen song, but it's in my top 10. It was on their final 'Innuendo' album, written by Brian May. In 1990 when this was recorded, Freddie was already seriously ill. The band didn't think he would manage the vocals, but Freddie said, "I'll f**king do it" - downed a couple of vodkas and nailed it. A perfect performer until the end.
Legendary performer! Brave man that's for sure! Performed best he could right up til his death almost.. You should review their "Live Aid" appearance/performance if you haven't already, that was fantastic/one of their greatest! Good review. Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴
Lex you're so Nailed it! This album is Amazing, sometimes I wonder if it is my favorite album of Queen, which is tough for me to rank but it's soooo Good! And it's dark for obvious reasons. I watched and interview where Roger (the drummer) said they were afraid that Freddie couldn't make it, recording the album, he was to sick and they were afraid of loosing him, but he did it and this song... when you read the lyrics... Wow! It's like Freddie dropped the mic with this album! I don't know if you've already reacted to Innuendo (which is also the name of the album) but if you haven't you should do it! It's Amazing that song too! Take Care!
The last video Freddie did with Queen was THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES and very last song Freddie recorded was MOTHER LOVE, Freddie felt ill, told Brian he'd come back to finish it, but passed before it was completed, Brian sang last verse
Queen did the soundtrack for "The Highlander" in 1985, and some of the footage is from that movie. You should watch it, because as Ricky Bobby famously said, it won the Academy Award for The Greatest Movie Ever.
If we could all leave our life story in an amazing video how great would that be. R I P Freddy always remembered and enjoyed. I love this more every time I see this.
Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson will always remain two of the biggest names in music history to me. The kind of charisma and on stage presence these two legends had was simply extraordinary.
The story goes that Freddie was effectively on his deathbed when this was recorded. Brian May went to him and asked if he'd do it, but that he didn't have to; Freddie slammed some vodka, apparently saying something to the effect of 'of course I'll do it, darling', and recorded the entire track in one go.
He wasn't on his deathbed, but he did have to pace himself to record the album. He wasn't on his deathbed until around the fall of 1991 when he effectively was bed ridden. Before that he could move around and do things, albeit on a limited basis.
Yes It was, you're right lex ...he was already very ill and did not want to be seen in a video...Brian was worried that he wouldn't be able to hit the high notes to the song he had written...Freddie gulped down a shot of vodka and said I'll do it daring...Brian wrote this song from Freddie's point of view , about what he was going thrueg. "I'm getting warmer now, I'll soon be turning round the corner now"...so sad...a brave soul -never complained about his demise
In my opinion, one of the best Queen songs ever. Which is saying something considering how many great songs they have. This was one of the last songs Freddie Mercury sang due to him being deathly ill. It's my understanding he did this in one take which is impressive under normal circumstances but even more so due to him being so sick. A legendary performer and a legendary band! Great reaction!
Lex smashed it on the goodbye song part. Worth mentioning a couple of other goodbye songs they did: Was It All Worth It - the original goodbye from The previous album when they though he wouldn’t be able to do another album - it’s amazing. Mother Love - Freddie’s ultimate last song, finished by the band after he died, complete with rebirth of Freddie at the end. Probably the best final song of any artist. Both are worth a listen to complete the journey.
Great reaction, it wasn't the end of his career, it was the end of Freddie's life, the words "I must be warmer now, I'll soon be turning, round the corner now, outside the dawn is breaking but inside in the dark I'm aching to be free". The poignant of the words "I'll soon be turning the corner" depicts that Freddie knew the end was near and "he was okay with that" and was ready to turn that corner .... and the words "outside the dawn is breaking but inside in the dark I'm aching to be free" ... when Freddie was ill the press/paparazzi wouldn't leave Freddie alone and even tried to take pictures of him in bed by climbing up trees near his bedroom window/balcony at Garden Lodge ... they just wouldn't leave him alone as obviously he didn't tell his fans/the public he had AIDS until 24 hours before he died, and because of the way he had lost so much weight the press/paparazzi would come up with any story about him, including AIDS, and so he felt trapped and couldn't get outside for dawn to break .... he was so so so so brave and was concerned more at his friend's feelings when they visited him. Unfortunately, Queen never got to perform this beautiful song live as there just simply wasn't enough time before they lost Freddie, hence the compilation of all different videos/concert pictures/studio pictures etc. RIP Freddie Mercury my hero. You were and still are a LEGEND in EVERY sense of the word. Rest easy my dear xxxx
His true “goodbye” was the video & song “Days of Our Lives”. It is truly a heartbreaking video because he died shortly after recording the video and he gives his goodbye to his fans at the end of video.
Freddie was really sick when they recorded this. He battled through with some hard liquor and didn't do all that many takes on this. He was a trooper and wanted the band to use him as long as they could. In some of the last pictures and videos, he is but skin and bone, but he was still able to sing like an angel...
Brian May's guitar is one of the most distinctive sounds in rock. and he has a ph.d. in astrophysics. That must be a seriously interesting guy to have a beer with.
Looking through your Queen Playlist and noticed you still need to check out "Live Aid " and Love of my Life. Also Freddie and Montserrat in "Barcelona"!
Freddie's farewell to his fans was the song "These Are The Days Of Our Lives". Freddie was very brave to do the video for "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" because he was very frail and skinny. It was filmed only 6 months before he passed. He went through hours and hours of makeup before he could give the impression of being sufficiently ok. He was extremely weak, and he took a glass of vodka from time to time to get some energy, but he wanted to be there. In the last frames of that video, you see a skinny Freddie Mercury, with sunken cheeks, raising his face to the sky, being cloaked by the spotlight. Then he looks down for a moment, watches the camera with compassionate eyes, and whispers his last words to his audience: “I still love you."
As usual Lex nails it. This absolutely is a goodbye song. Freddie was very sick while recording this and died not long after.

He hits a D5 with his chest voice.
No man can hit an A5 with his chest voice, but he hits an extremely difficult A5 with his falsetto in the song Under Pressure (that one "why" were he starts low and goes slowly and successively higher and higher).
@@shagster2555 It is a D5. Still very very impressive especially considering how sick he was when this was recorded.
@@harley4230 Vodka FTW
@@harley4230 a D5 in chest voice is insanely difficult to hit even while healthy
This is my favourite Queen song of all time!!!One of the last songs Freddie sang, it was written about his illness and how no matter how they felt 'The Show Must Go On'
You can feel the bands pain in this track and it always fills me with such powerful emotions!!!
Thank you for reacting to this track!!!
'These Are The Days' music video shows how Freddie illness had affected him and he ends the song with the words 'I Still Love You'
It's a beautiful moment!!!
Yes, me too.....this has become my favourite Queen song; but I would have to say equal with 'Love of my Life' 🤗
@@nightowl5395 what an amazing song that is!! The live version of Brian May playing it with just his guitar and Freddie Mercury on the big screen is stunning!
Brain May actually wrote the song but it obviously had Freddy in mind.
"Too Much Love will Kill You" is also a genius song.
“The Show Must Go On” & “Days of Our Lives” always make me cry thinking of Freddie💜
this was for their Innuendo album
The Show Must Go On" came from Roger and John playing the sequence, and I started to put things down. At the beginning, it was just this chord sequence, but I had this strange feeling that it could be somehow important, and I got very impassioned and went and beavered away at it. I sat down with Freddie, and we decided what the theme should be and wrote the first verse. It's a long story, that song, but I always felt it would be important because we were dealing with things that were hard to talk about at the time, but in the world of music, you could do it.[9]
- Brian May - 1994
the theme was about a broken hearted clown who painted on his smile and the show went on!
same theme that "Vesti la giubba" was based on which Freddie based his intro for hard life on
the bridge was inspired by Pachelbels canon which seems more Freddie than Brian
in an other interview he said they spent the afternoon together completed the first verse and had enough material to finish the last two verses which implies they had done more than just the first verse
he said he added the butterfly line later
Richard suggested a chord change
days oof our lives was an amazing goodbye to fans
Hi Shane, Just a little FYI:
Freddie didn't actually sing the WHOLE song in one take; that's a common misconception.
You're making me cry. Too sad. Some stupid illness...
I grew up with Queen, and inherited my love of butterflies from my mom.
Both Freddie and my mom passed away the same year.
If you aren't moved by this performance, you're not human.
From Wikipedia,
When the band recorded the song in 1990 Mercury's condition had deteriorated to the point that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it.
@@erikthompson619 yes. 2 different album releases with Show must go on ending both Innuendo album and the Greatest Hits 2 collection in 1991
And the song was recorded in 1990 as was the rest of the Innuendo album. Three tracks that ended up on Made in Heaven were the last ones Freddie recorded in 1991.
One of the most powerful songs they do live, even until this day.
Never PLAY LIVE
@@antoniocarlin5026 if you want to get technical, Queen never played this live. I was speaking of Queen + Adam Lambert. I’ve seen this version of the band 3x and it is very powerfully performed live.
@@brobinson7978 oh yes! Sorry.... Adam Lambert is a great singer and brought with him too much energy to the band...!!! and DONT FORGET Paul Rodgers...another great voice! Hugs from México!
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday, grow but never die
I can fly, my friends, but inside I'm aching to be free .true word from Freddie
Freddie Mercury literally lived his life by this mantra and surely Freddie did contribute to it. Rest in Peace legend, your soul will also forever go on 🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love this Haunting Song, it takes me right back to being a 19 year old.
Always felt like Freddie's farewell and it was superbly moving, especially when seeing him at his frailest.
I was lucky enough to see Queen twice and Freddie was the ultimate performer. Was in my top three concerts I've been to.
🥺❤🙏🏻
Freddie was truly one of the best musicians of all time. Truly a once in a lifetime talent.
Always feel like crying when I hear this; I adored this man so much as an artist. The greatest frontman in the history of rock and roll IMO!
This was written by Brian May. Freddie Mercury's goodbye song was the song on The Miracle album called "Was It All Worth It". Freddie Mercury's doctors said he was supposed to die in 1989, which was the year The Miracle album was released
Still goosebumps all over listening to this song. Such a tragic ending to one of the greatest artists of all time 😔
Yea, if anything was ever a goodbye song, this would be the one.
Haunting vocals
Hey Brad and Lex, first time commenting lol. I love checking in on your channel, so many incredible artists! I’m 23 from Scotland 🏴 and rock fan 🎸 but you guys also get me listening to all kinds of music I didn’t know existed! Queen are one of my favourites and are still so huge over here in the UK 🇬🇧
I watched your vlog a while ago about how much your lives have changed since RUclips, I feel like I know you both so well! I’ve recently had lots of changes in my life and it’s been tough, but watching your reactions to songs I know so well just light up my day. Wish you all the success and happiness in whatever comes your way, keep doing what you’re doing and we live to fight another day ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Freddie WAS The Greatest Showman! He put everything into his performances. His heart, his soul, his blood, his sweat his tears. Everything. Even when he knew he was a goner, he put the last of himself into this. And he did it al for us. His fans. His Show Must Go On, even after he's gone.
This is Freddie’s swan song. When this was recorded, he knew he was not long for this world, but as is the credo, “On With the Show.”
The best frontman in all of history and the best there ever will be!
I have him a close #2 for best front man. #1 for best overall performer though. Simply amazing
To me it's about what an absolute warrior Freddie was right till the end....written from Brian's perspective.....and what vocals!!!
they wrote the lyrics together but Brian polished it up and added butterfly wings as Freddie wasn't well
very beautiful song with an incredible emotional power, especially when you understand the lyrics and you know that he sang it when he was sick and aware that it was the end for him what courage!!!!
This makes me cry because it was such a loss when Freddie died and i feel like this was his message for us who carried along with life after he left.
What a parting gift!
Thank you Freddie, John, Roger, and Brian ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
His music will go on and on, Queen impress every generation, they had it all and all of them could write a hit song.
Much loved and much missed even 32 yrs later ❤️
I’ve listen to just this song and some podcasts but mainly this song for the past two weeks. If I’m not listening to it, it’s in my head playing word for word instrumental and everything.
It won’t get out of my head.
Mercury made the show go on. He knew he was dying but didn't want anyone to know. He wanted to keep on singing because that's what his purpose was. To sing. To keep the fans happy. The ultimate artist he was, right til the end.
thanks for this, kids.. many below have explained this.. no more to be said.. so beautiful, and so Freddie... !!!
You guys should react to…
Queen - Innuendo
🎸🤘
Anything by Queen is good.
Brad and lex I seen Queen in 81 at the fourm in L.A. just as think they would be in concert. Amazing 😎
Love this x
I remember when I watched this video for the first time after Freddie's death, I had tears in my eyes
Man, listenning to the song and reading the comments just tears me up inside.
one of the last songs of Freddie Mercury before his death, and such a good and strong sounding song!
They did a compilation of music videos because they made this song a few months before his death and it was easier to just do a tribute video to him.
Freddie's goodbye is in the song These are the days of our lives
Bellissima!
"All dead" one of his finest.
Freddie knew it was near the end. He gave his all in this song.
Take Care!
The lyrics were written by Queen guitarist Brian May. Freddie took a shot of vodka and sang it in one take. He died months later.
Heartbreaking. Simply heartbreaking.
Get over it. The man's been dead for a long time. Now it's just a great hard rock song and that's it.
Worth mentioning a couple of other goodbye songs they did:
Was It All Worth It - the original goodbye from The previous album when they though he wouldn’t be able to do another album - it’s amazing.
The line “I’ll soon be turning around the corner now” is the saddest line. I’ll soon be moving on…
This is one of queen’s many hidden gems. A great tribute to freddie!
This, and Innuendo are my all time fave Queen tracks. Nothing else in their entire catalog can touch them.
This was shortly before Freddie passed, he knew he didn’t have long left. This fact inspired the lyrics.
The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This (Live at the BRITs)
Legend!
His true “goodbye” was the video & song “Days of Our Lives”. It is truly a heartbreaking video because he died shortly after recording the video and he gives his goodbye to his fans at the end of video.
Freddie nailed it in one go
Freddie was really sick when they recorded this.
I was five years old when Freddie died. I was devastated. I still think about my mom telling me of his passing on that November day.
