    Queen & Freddie were a once in a lifetime band. Freddie could sing anything from soft and smooth to rough and gritty. The quintessential performer. This is when Freddie was starting to show the signs of having aids. He gave us everything he could for as long as possible. Never to be equaled.

    It was Brian singing towards the middle of the song with Freddie coming in too.
    Freddie was already sick here and grew the beard to hide the skin lesions on his face from the virus. He also was losing stability in standing and had to stay closer to and hang on to the microphone for most of the song.

    This track is off 1989's "The Miracle" and Freddie didn't expect to live long enough to finish it, but he was able to deliver 1990's "Innuendo" and left enough material for the others to finish "Made In Heaven" after his death. Also, Queen has 3 lead vocalists - Roger Taylor handles the high notes, Brian May handles the fat bass bottom end, and Freddie fills out the middle range. With this in mind, their operatic harmonies were created by each of them having to lay down 3 vocal tracks in each other's range plus thier own. That's 9 vocal tracks per vocalist - 27 vocal tracks total - for the mixing engineer to fight with ... 😂

    • @ZENOBlAmusic
      @ZENOBlAmusic 2 года назад +7

      The Miracle was from 1989, they changed their harmonies through the years. In the early years Roger and Freddie did most of the high harmonies. Later on in the 80's Freddie did high harmonies, Roger in the middle and Freddie often did the low harmonies as well. Brian filled in on middle to low depending on the song.

    • @TogonzoMedia
      @TogonzoMedia 2 года назад +3

      @@ZENOBlAmusic Fixed it. Also, the reason why I elaborated on the Queen harmonies is because way too many people give credit to Freddie when the quintessential Queen sound that's instantly recognizable in every given track comes from Brian May and his bottom end vocals, and his solo albums prove it. Unfortunately, it didn't prove it in raw sales, but nonetheless, those with a very keen ear ... know damn well when it comes to those Queen harmonies, Brian May was the straw that stirred the drink ...

    Sadly this was around Mercury's final years here on Earth. Was dying from A.I.D.S. He was medicated and physically weaker. Voice, energy and appearance had started to change by the late '80s. But still sang well. Fought til the end. Passed away in the early 90s, late fall or winter.. RIP 🙏 very sad when he passed. Everyone at my school was uneasy, sad and scared. So this is from 1989, quite late in Queen's career. 80s era Queen is my favourite period for the band, but as others have said, Freddie was quite ill at this point. I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that he grew the beard to hide lesions on his face (but don't quote me on that).
    The other guy singing in the breakdown is the guitarist Brian May, it sort of flits back and forth between him and Freddie, really seemlessly. I don't know why they chose to do that there, but it works. Btw, has anybody ever mentioned how Brian May built his iconic guitar, using wood from a fireplace, some motorcycle parts and a knitting needle?

    Another good reaction, and fun. Freddie was so sick that he wrote a swan song for this album, "Is it all worth it?" (at the end of the song you'll have the answer), Roger (drums) and Deacon (bass) thought that maybe it was the best song on the album. But it seems that Mercury wanted to save the song in case he died before creating more music. That song has maybe the best Freddie Mercury vocal intro fused (I think) with a guitar sound. A great great hard rock song.

    Towards Freddie's 'end of life,' this video/song is Queen going back to their roots in a hard rock genre where, I believe, Queen music is at its fundamental best! Yes, they progressed in multi-genres showing their outreach in many different genres (always in a 'Queen style'), but their root in hard rock is how they launched such a successful career. 'Any way you want it, that's the way you need it' (Journey lyrics), but Queen delivers 🙂FOREVER!!!

    One of my favorite Queen songs ❤ If one didn't know he was sick here you wouldn't be able to tell, like you guys. As others have said , the beard was because he had started gettibg marks on his face. His face is a little rounder from the medicine he took too. I think he looks great though ❤👌🏻

    Allegedly Freddie was hiding dark spots ie sarcoma's on his face with the beard growth which can be a symptom associated with AIDS. Song was written by guitarist Brian May when then girlfriend and now wife Anita said... that's what I want, I want it all and I want it now after seeing Queen in concert at Wembley.

    Brian wrote this song after hearing his girlfriend, at the time, join him at a concert. She loved the limelight and made a statement, something like "I want all of this"

      Yes, they got together when Brian helped her make her album. They denied their affair. But it started around 85 to 86..

    Brian May was singing on the bridge with Freddie. Brian and drummer Roger Taylor sing lead on several songs in the Queen catalog. Freddie sings lead on just about all of the singles though.

    That's Brian May the guitarist singing on the break down with Freddie. Brian wrote this one, he wrote a good few of their songs. And he's a decent singer himself.

    Great song. I remember seeing the video when it first came out and I was surprised at how sick and gaunt he looked. So sad.

    This is my favourite Brian May song and I think the pefect song for Brian to write for Freddie to show his genius in the later times of the band before he was too sick to really let it rip like this.

    Freddie was sick here and Steroids made him bloated. He used a stationery mic which helped him stand. No matter the problem, he was always great.

    It's probably the most rocking queen song. we are even on hard rock on the border with metal. at the time, Queen was already considered an old band that had become a bit commercial in view of the 70s and filled the stadiums. Mercury, ill, lets the other members of the group compose more without trying to distort their work. it is the greatest success of the album the miracle, an album which moves away from what Queen did best.

    Poor Freddie grew the beard to hide the effects of AIDS 😢
