- Punk Rock Vegan Movie is a feature-length documentary written and directed (and shot and scored) by Moby. It looks at the surprising history of punk rock and animal rights activism, features interviews with dozens of punk rock legends, and also cameos from Bagel the dog, the devil, and a boardroom of demons.
It's the filmmaker and producers' hope that no one ever pays to see this movie, as it's a labor of love and activism.

Unfortunately human body is not made to work like this. You should read also about possible ( permanent ) damage this can bring . Plenty of histories already ( real people turned vegan and ...it did not end well ). Methabolisms are not equal , etc,
@@cooltrades7469 lol stop lying on the internet it’s embarrassing
@cool trades what you’re saying is sometimes people don’t know what they’re doing. Yeah unfortunately people are hyper individualized under capitalism so they don’t know how to ask for help. But to say that the great majority of people can’t go vegan is entirely inaccurate. All nutrients originate in plants and elsewhere! Not in animals!

“The basis of all animal rights should be the Golden Rule: we should treat them as we would wish them to treat us, were any other species in our dominant position.”
Christine Stevens
Animals have no rights as they have no obligations. That´s nonsense. Loads of animals would atack you and kill you, life is not a Disney movie...
@@leatherandtactel the severely mentality disabled have no obligations either, are you saying that is wasn't morally egregious that Hitler experimented & executed them?
Which animals would attack and kill me? Fish? Chickens? Cows? Lobsters? The animals that you pay to be raped into existence would attack me? They wouldn't even exist in the first place! The only animals I've been attacked by are stupid, pathetic human ones. Provide a rational argument for abusing other animals.
@@victoriousvegan2291 You know that this is the exception to the rule, a very extreme case. Humans have rights because we are aware and we can understand and exercise those rights and we have obligations in return. Animals have no conscience, they don't know what rights are, they can't understand them. And they can't have obligations because they move by instinct, you can't judge them. And there is no exception to this rule. "We should treat them as we would wish them to treat us", many animals could attack you, poison you, kill you and even eat you in some cases, animals like snakes, lions, tigers, spiders, etc. According to that logic, if we eat them, we would be treating them as they treat us. The difference between a human and an animal is that if you see animal carcasses hung up, ripped open, it might not be very pleasant, but that's all, if they were humans hung up and ripped open you would be traumatized for life. When an animal dies, it leaves nothing behind, because it lives by instinct, a human leaves family, sons, daughters, friends, work, desires, concerns, love, struggles, afection, home, etc, etc. When you prefer animals than humans is that something is wrong with you, not with eating animals. I´m not talking about abusing animals, but eating them like other animals do. If you don´t like it blame nature, we are nature as well. Idónt like the industry but eating animals it´s just life, like lions do.
@@leatherandtactel Can you explain what character traits you possess that would convience any rational individual that you wouldn't be a human slave owner or a nazi given your current position of dominance and your choice to have other groups of "inferior" individuals enslaved & forced into gas chambers for your percieved benefit, solely based on your delusions of supremacy & the fact that they don't look like you or speak your language?
Imagine actually trying so desperately to continue to abuse & holocaust the most oppressed and vulnerable individuals on this planet. You have less moral agency & integrity than a parasite. Pathetic af.
@@victoriousvegan2291 Stop humanazing animals, animals are not human, they can´t say loads all bullshit like you, they can´t write or read. You are delusional.

Wow. Love this.
As Moby's BMG Distribution rep starting in 1999 with 'Play', it was a pleasure working with him and taking him to various record retail and a radio show meet & greet (106.5fm show at Sacramento Memorial). One of the nicest guys I've ever spent a whole day with an encyclopedia-sized brain.
Before parting, he signed a CD for my then 2 year old son, Gavin, who we talked about at length.
The next time I saw him after his album blew up was at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco. The first thing he said to me was "Hi Eddie. How's Gavin?."
Who does that? Moby.
As luck would have it, 'Play' would be his biggest record and one of the most licensed records in the world. I remember he hoped he could sell what Underworld's 'Beaucoup Fish' did. It did...and many times over.

“In fact, if one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned and, once large sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people.”

"There are no vegans in Kabul. Veganism is a privilege of the 1% who have never had to wonder where their next meal will come from, or when that will be."
@@jct903 cool story. The most impoverished people can't afford raising other animals to consume, that's why they eat plants. Eating animal products is a luxury. "The people of Kabul" could be cannibalizing, it doesn't make it moral or something to be repeated. How is that a justification for you to perpetuate the rape, enslavement, mutilation and murder of other animals when clearly you have privilege?!
@@jct903 bullshit. Eating meat is the most privileged thing possible.
@@jct903 The vast majority of us are not in Kabul; this movie is not for them. On the other hand, most of the people this movie is intended for could go vegan if they wanted to.
I can't describe the amount of crap I had to put up from everyone I knew when I stopped eating meat in 1984, everytime I said to "no thank you" I was met with "here we go again more veggie ranting", when I was either politely saying no to food containing meat (sometimes deliberately offered) or was answering a question. It took me a while to realise that in the minds of those who complained at me, it was their own guilt, lack of empathy or laziness that was being questioned but not by me, my diet was seen as a threat to ...to what? I could never work it out why they opposed what I ate so seriously.
I still think it's bizarre how people behave around a non meat eater who will be accused of "droning on another animal sermon" when the opposite was true, I just wanted to eat my food normally and in peace, not have a verbal battle every dinner time with people trying to challenge me or try to make me say something they could use against me, and this was friends doing this.
"How can you survive on a veggie diet?" Was another dumb question, 99% of my diet also sat on meat eaters plates, all I did was take away or replace the animal products on my plate yet this alone had people getting aggressive even.
Thankfully today it's normal not to eat animals .

Overflowing with rich, worthy and positively influential conversations. Well done to the mighty punk rock world and Moby!
I love that Moby is popular. Because more people will and need to see this. From one punk to another, Thank You.
The baldy, 60 year old, weak techno man known as ‘Moby’ is about as popular as a simultaneous hiv/cancer diagnosis. A shabbily made remote controlled car demonstration (with several advertisements) will have considerably more views than this straight to not even video motion picture…Moby’s ‘popularity’ is really helping these so called punk bands loose every shred of credibility they ever had.
Hope someone translate in Japanese! We have so many “punk” cultures but no one actually knows those stories behind. And I’m sure Japanese will freaking LOVE this.

Great movie! I was never a punk but the ethos truly resonates. I grew up on hip hop and skating from the mid 80's, both anti-establishment, d.i.y counter cultures. Hip hop politicised me and taught me to question the status quo at a young age via groups like Public Enemy etc, unfortunately there weren't many voices on this issue within hip hop, perhaps if there had been I'd have become vegan much earlier than I did. Skating was obviously soundtracked by a lot of hardcore punk back in the day, so was aware of some of these groups and music but it was great to learn more about links between this scene and the animal rights movement. Thankyou Moby 🙏🏻
Dead Prez!
Flava Flav likes cheese burgers and crack…. The other two were very racist towards Asian shop keepers and are now generally regarded as low brow, discredited race baiters. On the other hand Status Quo are a very respected English rock band who peaked in the early 70s, check them out, they are much better than the much maligned, highly ridiculed ‘Moby soy dick’.
Excellent film! Thank you for posting it freely here. Did not know there were so many more main stream and popular bands with vegan members. Awesome to see.

PROPAGANDHI. In my version of this great doco (thank you 'moby!), being a 1990s pop punk era person, Propagandhi from Canada would be in there. The Southern Californian Bad Religion/ Epitaph/ NOFX/ Fat Wreck Chords sound was massive in the middle 1990s and in the midst of all of that you had this hyper political band, singing about veganism, speaking to people who would not have listened to Crass or Earth Crisis. So it's really another important part of this story. I'm sure you could look at the Gilman scene and find lots there too. TL;DR: listen to the first two tracks of their Less Talk, More Rock LP - that's how I went vegan.

Fantastic! Thank you Moby!!! ❤
great movie! I've been vegan for 8 years. I had no idea there was such a strong connection with the punk rock scene! When are you going on tour, Moby? 🌱
Thankyou. This is great. 🌱
Great movie. Thank you for connecting these things. And I spend so much energy trying to explain my values to people. Your movie makes it so obvious.
