The troopers of two starships have joined forces to terminate a massive bug attack at a Federation outpost. Before the mission can be completed and the survivors evacuated, one ship abruptly departs and goes inexplicably dark. The remaining battle-hardened troopers race to the rescue only to discover that the threat from the bugs is about to hit home.

i watched this when it came out and i loved the animation style back then. Didnt realize so many ppl didnt till recently. I personally liked the style of a lot of early 2000s CG animated movies like that one final fantasy movie

CGI is lame as shit, it's lazy and tacky and the characters can't emote worth shit, NOT good, if it was hand drawn on the other hand... definitely would have raised the quality 😬

I think the ship has own it’s a gravity field lmao how do you think they all stay down and not floating while shooting and the bugs fall down when they die(but also Hollywood logic cuz if that sniper scene, bullet casing should’ve definitely floated away 😂)
their gun put out SHELLS but seems never reload

Hell of a leap for technology if power armor went from Specialised Units to standard issue
I think they were trying to be more like the book with this where the mobile infantry is a specialised unit
I think these are the standard mobile infantry and then there's the marauder suits. Although SST Extermination shows standard mobile infantry with extra armor and sealed helmets and Extermination,Invasion,Traitor of Mars are apart of the film universe plus the 2005 FPS game and the one from a few years ago.
You probably didn't hear but SST Extermination has been confirmed to be part of the film universe too.

I've only seen parts of it... BUT thats why I'm so obsessed with the "flip book" concept right now, because thats all that most people have time for these days.
Being hilariously bad was always a key ingredient in what made starship troopers work, glad they're still finding new ways of making it happen.
I think it's almost always made clear in implications that part of the reason the bugs keep appearing everywhere and also seem to be up to date with human advancement is because the government just doesn't stop meddling and trying to tinker with bug control.
In the third live action film, they use a psionic to presumably kill the power grid and lead to a devastating defeat that would put Rico on trial.
In this film, the psi-Officer all but says he 'tried to hack her and got hacked in return'.
Going by allegories, the Federation top brass want to find new ways of control. They started a war that backfired on them, now they want control over the war so they can turn it into never ending propaganda for their empire.
I was wondering why humans don’t develop more effective weapons against these enemies.

@@tehmarokThat will do as will😂 I mean, some high tech, destructive weapons like Bolter, plasma guns or thermal rounds…etc. Because the standard bullets seems not so effective against them.

@@趙伯翰Bolters are a whole 'nother level of ballistics tech. The federation DID make plasma weapons, but they were those crappy flashlight guns from ST 2.
Someone made a comment about why there aren't better/more effective weapons against the bugs. Actually, if you pay attention to the end of the first movie, there was a demonstration of a trooper firing a shell that exploded on impact. Why those weren't developed further i cammot say
Hard to believe that the guy responsible for the Ghost Stories and Cromartie High School dubs (Steven Foster) also voice directed this.
I always love the part where the soldiers are on the damn higher than yet they see the John a Warden taking off and they're all like you got to be kidding me thanks for waiting jackass I know that's what I would be saying if I saw a dropship getting ready to leave us behind

This movie is far better than Traitor of Mars. Hell, this sequence alone is better than most of Traitor of Mars.
Watch ToM if you want. I did, twice. Once when it came out, and once some time later. It’s not bad.
Now? I’d much rather just watch Invasion again.

Not the bullet casings falling down...in space, and the windows being broken without the ship depressurising. They can probably breathe in space too I reckon.
The armor they wear is basically iron man suits without lasers.

@@Maverick4608-p7o No it didn't.. While starship troopers is a film from 97'.. in the original book they had dome helmets and wonder weapon looking guns ( Cod: Zombies). Which was typical for the 50s..
This 2012 animation WANTED TO BE HALO. You can see it clear as day, they look like Spartans. and while I give it too you. there is a resemblance to SST in Halo.. The Troopers in the film look like Halo Infantry Grunts not Spartans. LOL
