Paul Newman had a 400hp V8 swapped volvo 960 back in the late '90.. and a 740 with a 3.8 v6 turbo grand national engine..
The 200-900 series Volvo could swallow a V8 easily. Almost like the designer's planned on swaps.
A conspiracy theory we can get behind.
They actually require quite a bit of firewall clearance. Ask me how I know.

The 2-series was designed to fit a V8, it just didn’t get one due to the oil crisis about a year before it came to market. As a result the engine lab at Torslanda and the engine factory started to look at turbo charging. I believe weight also was a reason a V8 never ended up in the 2-series. I have driven 245:s with both CSB and Ford 305 engines and let’s say it is no longer well balanced. No longer 52/48 % weight distribution. A LS is another story since it is in in aluminum form considerably lighter than a CSB.

Yes real original by the swedish team every other volvo like this, is swapped in sweden. This is pretty much like a foxbody ls swap in the us.
You do realize that they definitely weren't the first... I can go to a barn in Henderson NC and find one built with a 400 sbc with a junkyard diesel turbo ala roadkill's Rotsun... in 2001.
But continue believing that the first one you've seen is the original idea...

I think the first smallblock Chevy v8 swapped Volvo 240 was built in 1982 in Sweden :D I built my 240 LS turbo 6 years ago, and there was many before my build.
I have a turbo is 242. Great combo

You will easy get the same power just turbo charging the original motor and without destroying the weight distribution and still saving money.

I'm gonna be the unpopular guy - I want to like these guys but they're a bit hacky. Between the Mercedes and now this - I really feel like a better car could be made with that supposed money.
They do it for motor trend show . If they could do it the way they wanted to it would be something different.

watch some of the euro volvo types they get just as much or more power keep it all volvo and its not just another no imagination ls or even just v8 swap . this was so predictable and boring
