I struggled a bit with the front engine compartment wheel wheels, firewall and lining it all up. I really love your buiild. Well done! I have a 51 chevy fleetline that I somehow lost everything but the body. I had started it and glued the front end all together and thought I could use the hood from the Bel Air but it won't fit. I guess I messed up somewhere . lol
I don’t remember if I ran into a problem with that or not... I recently had the same thing happen, lost all the parts for a Model A hot rod... but a little heat and a dremmel tool go a long way if you have to fabricate parts. I’ll post a video.
Chris Nix I like to think that I’m building on a budget just like most hot-rodders do. You end up with spare parts and motors from real life builds just as you do with the kits and are usually forced to resort to what you have lying around. Half the fun in building on a budget is forcing all the parts to play nice when they were never intended to be on the same vehicle. I like to bring that mentality to model building. Thanks for the comment!
I don’t see the mount for the stock engine..the instructions are not great..how did you mount yours… I dislike that the pulley piece as it’s not right,,,…and advice?
That’s a desoto hemi, those spark plugs don’t actually go like that, the raised part of the valve covers is a rail that covers the most off wires. Funny thing is I just ordered one of these 51’s and thought about using a spare hemi in it, but I’ll be using a Pontiac engine instead.
My only complaint is for the grill you painted the turn signals orange. For an actual car it would be white glass and then vents on the inner side of them.
Hey man, you are still rockin' the cool cars here! I love this Bel Air. I subbed to your channel a while ago but I'm not sure if you've ever swung by mine and left support. No worries. I'll keep checking in here for your newest content because it's a great channel for hobbyists like me. Take care in these crazy days, brother. An online friend from Switzerland - Andrew
Great build! Just got this myself thinking of doing it as my first. Small question - with the headlights do you paint white behind the lenses or just leave it chrome? Looks white on yours and I like the look just unsure how to get it. Thanks!
Caroline Hafner you should! I use a clear parts glue to set them, sometimes it can appear white but rarely. Thanks for the comment! Can’t wait to see the result!
Came with the ‘68 charger kit, but I’m sure you know more than I do lol. I’m a car guy but I’m definitely not knowledgeable enough to argue that one lol. Thanks for the support!
buckster2575 well I’m a die hard car guy that grew up on a budget... if it’s sitting there and it runs it’s gonna find an engine bay. Guys back then swapped flatheads into everything, then Chevys 350 found every engine bay imaginable... and guys LS and coyote swap all makes and models today (even ford to Chevy and vice versa)... they throw RB26s or 2JZs in domestic brands.... I don’t really know what you’re on about. If I had a ‘53 Chevy with a stock inline 6, and a Ford 460 sitting on a pallet I think this model shows just what I would do... thanks for the comment.
Thx 4 sharing. It is definitely on my list as my next bomba

A big block Ford in a Chevy! I love it! Thanks for sharing.

Man, I remember kits like that back in the 60s and 70s cost 75cents to a 1.95.
Like the color combo
Thanks man

Thanks for catching that, it has been corrected

@@nothing2scale255 Cool. Thanks!
Great job buddy, looks awesome.k.u.t.g.w.
Thanks!
Nice build, but that engine is a Chrysler Hemi--not a Ford.

Pretty sure that motor from the pickup is a Chrysler hemi......

Even back then no Chevy guy would put a ford engine in a Chevy. Maybe a Buick or Pontiac but no ford.

buckster2575 if I have one car and a 460, I’m using the 460.
