    This was super interesting to watch. I thought it turned out good, but I get seeing the "cracks" in what we do. You cracked me up with the last part. Calling it a piece...ha! Very relatable. 😄

    Very good at showing how to control where you want the salt to be by using a brush to put water on the model only where you want the salt to stick. I’ve only seen it done with the hole model is wet. As far as the model fitting issue AMT is known for some bad kits.

    Key word: AMT says it all. I’ve had bad fit problems with AMT.

      I went back into it… the problem was in the interior… the instructions were not as clear as I needed…I got it mostly aligned… I’ve built a few more AMT and they were fine.

    That is one of my first kits I did when I was a kid In the 70's, revell kits usually are more detail, like the new 69 Chevelle or the new jag xk-e is a nice kit, the old AMT kits have terrible detail

    I just came across your video and was interested because I just got this kit this past Christmas. Looked like a decent kit but as with many of the AMT kits on the market, they do have their problems. The key is to work through them. If you think that Chevy was a bad kit, stay as far away from the Coca-Cola 32 Sedan Delivery as you can. That kit has more twists and turns then the Mississippi river.

      I built the 41 Plymouth Coca Cola and it was ok… I went back into this kit and fixed the issue but it never really aligned right… pay close attention to the interior construction.

      @@bmck-8400 Thanks for the heads up on that. I am currently working on three kits and the video editing for a fourth one. I was looking at the box for my Belair and was considering bringing that one online next. Have to wait and see how I feel when the time comes! Thanks again for the heads up!

    Man, don't get so angry. it wasn't the model. I got mine 2 months ago and no issues with assembly. Perhaps as you've said, you never noticed figures on instructions booklet, are upside down. I painted mine overall in anthracite black high gloss and looks super cool. Take it easy; it isn't the end of the world.

      @@charliebowman785 I was joking I went back in…disassembled and fixed…but the video was done. Though the wheels never really aligned right . I should pull the video but it’s my most popular. I’m doing a kit now high gloss metal flake…which I don’t often do.

    Not really my thing . If it were going on a G scale train layout I could see this process.
    As far as the model it's self goes.
    Fit and trim is a learned process. These mass produced models of today doesn't have the quality of the same models that came from the same molds of the 60s, and 70s.
    You have to spend time checking fit.

    Dirty up the glass if it’s a “driver” then don’t. Fade it a little bit. If it’s a “ junk yard” or a “ barn find” look then flatten the tires weather the glass

    • @bmck-8400
      @bmck-8400  5 месяцев назад +1

      I had thought about doing the glass… but it was my first attempt and overall it was ok… a bit of dull coat on the glass would have given it a good look … I liked the idea that it was still drivable … kind of like Christine. When I compare my efforts to the other builders… mine are not as good… but that’s cool. Some amazing builders. I found a few who did this kit and did a way better job with no issues. I’ve grown to like my effort overall. Thanks for the tips.

    The front suspension has always been a problem on this kit. It sits back too far and the posable steering only makes it look worse. The fender to hood alignment isn't positive on any of these '51 Chevrolet AMT kits (Belair, Fleetline, Convertible). The hood corners are incorrect / missing and the rear bumper on the 1:1 car are tucked into cut-outs in the rear quarter. Your build doesn't look bad considering that, in my opinion, these '51 Chevrolet kits weren't very well thought through by AMT. Good job!

    I'm sure model manufacturers don't care about your options about their kits.
    That's a shame cuzz Old farts like ( atleast me) are the ones keeping this hobby alive . I was at a car model show in
    South Philly and 99% of the people were old farts like me. Once we go. End of car model industry as we know it. Not so much with Sci-fi and Military. But American classic cars .....good bye

    • @bmck-8400
      @bmck-8400  Год назад

      It seems in general the hobby is old dudes. I like all the different areas of model building but find the kits to be too expensive for kids. I’m old myself and remember that kits were an inexpensive hobby when I was a kid. Kits now cost so much it keeps kids out I think . Licensing I’m sure is expensive but I think more people would do it if cheaper. With the 3-D printers and such there are many great things going on but hobby shops are far and in between these days. So many retro releases the hobby is geared towards people my age … maybe gear some kits towards young people.

    Came here hoping to figure out what they were trying to accomplish with their upside instructions, but you ran into the same issues I have with this kit. Nothing fits well. There are no concise instructions for mounting the engine, the engine compartment is just a guess where each piece goes. I've built models since 1964 and this kit was the worst.

    • @bmck-8400
      @bmck-8400  4 месяца назад

      Be careful with the interior I didn’t line it up right and that made the body not align correctly . I did go back into it and fix it. I also had issues with engine area…and it’s not right. It looks ok though as I think the paint job sells it… other builders did a much better job but I don’t do much after market work…I’m old school out of the box. I’ve built other AMT kits and they were fine.

    🛵 Guess there's no regulations for model kits. AMT used to give you the rudimentary parts, only unneeded decals, and box art that borders on false advertising.
    Nothing has to fit together properly, since they already have your money.
    What happened to Revell ? Haven't seen a 64 Impala or 70 Chevelle in years.
