- A short video (bit over 6 minutes) giving you a glimpse of the interior of a 'ro-ro' (roll on/roll off) vehicle ship. These large ships transport all types of vehicles around the world...loading and unloading at many different ports. Shipping contributes over 4 trillion (US dollars) to the world economy and provides thousands of jobs on ships, ports and related services. If you have been near any major seaport you have probably seen these type of ships. I hope you enjoy a brief look inside. Thank you for watching and please subscribe to my channel.
Thanks! It sure helps to understand what the rescue entailed. So glad they got everyone out safely! Now to recover that ship! A massive effort, no doubt.
Ah yes! Ship shape at its finest. I'm impressed. Nice. 😊
Thanks for video !
My car was shipped by this Line, the Tirranna.. how cool!
very impressive how clean it appears to be. massive undertaking to load each vehicle on/off. the number of people to get that done!
Yes..I've been on 2 of the vehicle ships and they were both very nice and clean
Excellent. 👍👍👍
Thanks again jim, showed to my dad your videos
Cool...hope he enjoyed them.
So beautiful ship
Amazing
Amazing.i am waiting for my car from Japan and am tracking it.b here in November.incredible to C how they are loaded n parked
The Range Rovers are generally exported from the UK via Southampton, there's a video by the Port Operator that shows a few bits of the process once they come off the transporters, it's a bit company heavy but shows some of the multi level storage they've been busy installing in recent years. I spent a few years moving Honda CRV and Civics from the plant to the docks. With just 5 trucks working double shifts for 5 days a week we moved around 43,000 cars per year.

We do quite a lot of them from Royal Portbury and Solihull to Bristol is less distance than Southampton.
I wonder what happened to the elephants that tested how much weight the ramp could take.
lol..I just now saw your comment. I can assure you no elephants were harmed in the ramp testing lol
🤗😄😋
I’m going on the ship the Green Cove on Sunday.
I wanna a car like these 😢
What all do you do when you’re in port? They are loading the ship?
I don't travel on the ships James, I just have been lucky to go on port and take a couple tours of the ships. But pre-covid the seaman (if eligible) will leave the ship in port. Post-covid has prevented many from leaving the ship.
how much time to load cars? how many drivers? is faster to load or unload?🙂
I'm afraid I don't have that exact information. Most of the ships only stay in port 1-3 days and seldom load/unload a full ships worth. They might unload 2,000 in one port, pick up 500 then head to the next port and load and unload. They use a passenger van to ferry drivers on/off ship with 12-15 drivers and I've seen more than one depending on what they need to accomplish. I would imagine it is faster to unload since the cars can be unhooked and driven off and not have to be worried about 'spacing'. Vehicles are packed in as close as they can be. Hope that helps.
Why do they have those plastic wrappings in only certain areas? I find it odd its only on the hood and around the windows
Every new car has it, it’s to protect the commonly touched areas from getting dirty
It varies from make to make but generally in the areas where they are likely to be touched or contacted by someone, hence the area around door handles and door frames being favourites. Certain manufacturers demand transporter drivers have no rings and watches while loading and clothing cannot have metal zips or buttons to minimise the risk of paint damage.
Need to start securing the cars to the ship that way they won't have to worry about the load shifting and the ship tilting like the last couple of ships of done
The cars are secured. 2 straps front and back are hooked to the bumpers and then to holes in the deck. But this isn't enough to keep the cars from such a dramatic shift (ship turning completely on it's side). Check out my video of a vehicle ship interior...though not positive at the moment if I show the straps. I do have footage of a crew member demonstrating how they are strapped in, but I can't post that.
What company is this I’m looking for a company that will bring my car from Norway to Texas.
You can check out this website. I have no idea if they do 'one off' car shipping or not. www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com
Since they have 4000 to 8000 cars I only need 1 😅
lol...yes that would be nice.
metric? imperial? noo...our unit of measure is elephants
What do they do with all the keys
They leave it in the glove box or somewhere inside
I read they leave them inside an envelope on the windshield.
How do they open the doors without damaging the cars as they are so close together
You are right...it is very tight. I found it difficult to even squeeze through on one occasion. But I'm not sure since I didn't witness them getting in and driving off. I imagine it's the order of how they are loaded/unloaded but that is a guess
