Hurricane Helene impact on St Simons Island, Georgia
Here is what footage I have from the recent visit by Hurricane Helene that impacted St Simons Island during the Thursday night 9/26/2024. High winds and rain, a tornado warning, power loss, tree damage etc. I am thankful that our impact was not as catastrophic as in other areas in the South. Some areas have seen and continue to see power loss and damage that will take years to recover. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel for future video's. If you have questions, I will try my best to provide answers.

SongRamp was an online website starting in 2004 to connect songwriters around the world to share original songs and collaborate with other artists. While the website has been discontinued the friendship and music continued. People traveled from around the country to jam and share their songs. My friend and I made our 10-hour driv...

The 'Tall Ship Lynx' a 1812 reproduction privateer was also sailing in the channel at the time along with other boats. I also included some other footage from Jekyll Island and boats in the channel. A short video from a quick trip down to the pier at the southernmost tip of St Simons Island, Georgia USA. It was about 75 degrees with not much wind and a vehicle ship was outgoing from the Port of Brunswick. So I made a dash down to get some video. I know winter is still blasting away in many areas so head down as our weather is great this time of year. Thanks for watching...please subscribe....

This is part 4 of my series on a July 2023 trip we made to Maine, USA. My first time visiting that state. This part features the shores of Maine from Portsmouth to Bar Harbor. The Maine shoreline is very rocky and so different than what I'm used to in the Southern states of the U.S.A. I really enjoyed the rock cliffs and shores. I still have additional video from Bar Harbor and Acadia National ...

Hi! I'd like to talk to you about using some of your clips in a tv segment about this accident. How can I contact you?
Is MILTON causing the island or Torras causeway any damage?
@michalromig3409 it doesn't appear to have effected us much. We dodged another bullet
Thank you for sharing your footage, I was wondering how the island faired. I'm in the N Ga mountains and was spared serious damage!
We did have damage both on the island and in Brunswick, but nothing compared to other areas
Thank you for rhe update and views. Lots of wind damage. There's a tree on my roof in Brunswick. Thankful it wasn't a worse rain event like it was in other places.
Oh...I hope it didn't cause too much damage to your roof. I know that's a pain to deal with.
Glad yall didn't have as much damage there.. I visited after the one in 2017.
I hope you get to come back to the area....still a great place to visit and live
@@goldenstringsstudiome too nice area
Hi there. I’m looking for a gimbal to buy that can run a go pro 10-12. Any ideas?
I wish I could recommend something but I don't use a gimbal for any of my camera's. I also don't use a go pro, though I do have a less expensive action camera that does ok. If you search youtube I'm sure you will find various reviews that might help you figure out a good model. Hope you find something
Yup i'm going to work again. good to see ya .
LOL...I had no idea what this comment meant until I saw who it was lol. Stay safe buddy!
Thank goodness for the Johnson boulders.
Yes...they have helped the island for many years. Thanks for watching Katie
thanks! glad SSI didnt get the brunt of it..
Yes..I am glad too. Thanks for watching
@@goldenstringsstudio any flooding?
@@OhioTravelswithKris I did not see any. Lots of water puddles probably from rain but I didn't see any sign of flooding. But I didn't go all around the island.
@@goldenstringsstudio ok good! thanks
spent many days hunting there with my brother in law and visited recently. Did not have the permit so will have to go back. The dove is a Mourning Dove. EXCELLENT video.
Thanks John for the comment. That is a very neat area where I've had lots of luck capturing birds etc via photos and videos. I don't hunt but I know it's a key area when in season.
@@goldenstringsstudio we used to hunt rabbits, ducks, snipe there but it was a long time ago. Many memories of me, my brother in law, and the dogs. One dog was bitten and killed by a cottonmouth so be careful.
Wow now I can see this place not just in real life but also in video 😃
Thanks....glad you enjoyed it
Bucket list- would love to tour one of those cargo ships.
Yes...its a cool experience. I've been on 2. But getting access to a port is not easy and then the ship captain has to approve the visit as well. But I hope you get the chance.
Dolphins! Lots if dolphins!
I knew there were dolphins that day, but I wasn't really trying to film them. It's always difficult to get any decent footage. But glad that I captured some every if by chance lol.
Beautiful area! That pelican did seem to mind people walking by.
They rarely move unless people are to close or approach to fast
Very oldschool design like they used during the previous turn of the century 1890s early 1900s to lift heavy cameras and meteorological equipment.
I’m looking at it right now in the shipyard that’s crazy
Oh cool.
wow that is awesome
Thank you so much, Jim! This is such an honor to be the focus of one of your videos. I love it! It was a real pleasure meeting you!- Michele Levani
Yes nice to meet you as well. Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you continue to enjoy successes with your art.
After a ship heads out I also enjoy awaiting the arrival of the harbor pilot when he comes back to the pier. The pilot boats are cool.
Yes, I enjoy it too. I probably have 100's of pictures and clips lol.
wow you got some good footage
Thanks....it was a neat place to video since it was so different than what I was used to. Thanks for watching
Goldenstrings. super! awesome .
Thanks mate and thanks for watching
Thanks for video !
very beautiful
How do they open the doors without damaging the cars as they are so close together
You are right...it is very tight. I found it difficult to even squeeze through on one occasion. But I'm not sure since I didn't witness them getting in and driving off. I imagine it's the order of how they are loaded/unloaded but that is a guess
We Haitian made ot woth coconut 🌴😂😂😂
Hi, Can you explain how you build your KAP rig or where you purchased it? Thanks
Hi, I did the video about the KAP but I'm not the person flying the kite. I can tell you that the rig he wears is home-made and that the spool holds up to 1000 feet of line. He has multiple kites for different wind conditions and some he may have put together and others purchased. If possible I will see if he would comment here to give more information. I would love to video him talking about how he made it and his kites etc, but I can't promise when/if that might happen.
@@goldenstringsstudioThanks would greatly appreciate this
wow very cool ,
thanks it was a nice trip
Such peaceful beauty.
Yes its a very nice spot to visit for sunrise
Thanks for that! As the sun rises over East beach and Goulds Inlet I wonder how many sunrises did James Gould witness from the inlet that bears his name?
I was reminded of Eugenia Price's book New Moon Rising and the story of Horace Bunch Gould as well as the characters from the book whose descendants still inhabit the island to this day.
When my transportation director found out that I had read the trilogy he started arranging private tours for guests of Sea Island that were interested, it was a lot of fun to share the history!@@froggyziffle
Probably quite a few. In those days they were often up early if he took the time to enjoy it
I am ready for Boston to Bar Harbor: Part 2
Thanks...I hope to get that out soon.
They are so beautiful
Amazing
Where is this on the Island?
It was behind one of the historical homes. But they birds have long since left the nest.
Nice job capturing all the different birds. The Painted Bunting was so beautiful. Birds are so cool. It's so fun watching birds.
Yes bird watching is great. I only started doing it for about 5 years now. So lot of learning to do still, but we have a great area for a wide variety with migration events yearly. Thanks for watching...saw your last vid so hope you get into the mountains soon. I'd love to see more video's of those mountains.
Thanks again jim, showed to my dad your videos
Cool...hope he enjoyed them.
These scenes were absolutely insane in the movie. Incredible filmmaking!
I haven't seen the movie yet. I'd like to see it. Thanks for watching
i really love this editor thanks so much!

Nice fishing adventure with your grandkids. They learn so much when they get to do things like that. I like seeing parents taking their kids out in nature. Looks like you all had a great time. Saltwater fishing is on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing your family fishing adventure. Neat to see what they caught.
Thanks for watching. Yes, being on the water is always fun and more fun when you can watch them have such a cool time.
Awesome to watch and you have great knowledge of these ships too I didn’t realize Georgia had a large port
Georgia has several major ports. Savannah, Brunswick (most of which is car import/export) and inland ports in Chatsworth, Bainbridge and Columbus. The Port of Savannah, home to the largest single-terminal container facility of its kind in North America, is comprised of two modern, deepwater terminals: Garden City Terminal and Ocean Terminal, while the Port of Brunswick is 1 of the top 2 car ports in the U.S. Thanks for watching my channel.
Thanks for that, I lived on the island until 2013 and sat many afternoons on the pier watching the ships pass by, coolest place on the island on a hot day. Peace be with you!
And you as well Michael
Wish I'd known about it. I'm in Savannah...
Make a note for next year. It's an annual event around the same time. Thanks for watching
It is amazing that the ships are so large and so quiet.
Katie the 'audio' on some of the clips are changed because of so many people always talking around the camera. The pier is seldom empty. So I use some stock audio clips...when that happens.
Thought about you the other day. Saw a white pelican
Cool...I need to go look for them and get some video
Excellent!
Great video - really does give a true portrait of the locale. Thank you!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it
Thanks! We spent a few days there in 2017 with a friend in ssi
