It's hard to fathom how skilled and knowledgeable this guy is. You can't just Google this stuff, you have to have a thorough understanding of what you're doing to even know where to look. Definitely a trail blazer.
Could you swap the Thunderbolt 1/2 port on an older MacBook Air/pro with a type C header? Would be interesting to see how it handles data vs power as apple make the inverse adapter and original thunderbolt needs external power for all devices
I wonder if anybody with a official apple TB3 to 2 adapter knows if it retains the DisplayPort functionality (aka running pure DP over USB-C), cause otherwise a project like this would require decombining the original connector into TB and DP, to then recombine it + the USB data and USB PD (unless, of course, you don't mind having a TB only port, having no real access to the USB-C ecosystem)
When I first clicked on the video I was like. He's going to have to use a really cheap iPhone clone to pull the port off. Even then he's going to have trouble getting the cable to charge because they talk to each other.
Samsung company will be the first to see this video and say, we have given so many modern sockets, but why are you putting our ancient era sockets in my mobile.
I mean, I hate proprietary plugs. Not on just PSUs from Dell and HP, but also on devices like Apple. And not every cable works as Apple had to build a microcontroller into their lightning ports to f off all non-genuine cables that could deliver much higher currents than the original ones. The iPads are the only exception where you at least get a USB-C port. While we are trying to get rid of e-waste, Apple and other OEMs are doing the exact opposite. Apple's repair program is an absolute joke. Bringing the FaceID or a True tone back with a genuine replacement display will also void the previous display. So, in case the calibration fails and you want the old display back, you can put it into the landfill where it belongs as it won't be accepted anymore.
no this one won't :) I don't want to make it look like I'm always trying to sell stuff. for the usb-c iPhone, I feel like there was more attention on the auction than on the engineering, which is kind of sad
There is one thing only you can do for me. actually two. 1. Type c apple wired earpods. 2. A software or script to make apple earpods volume buttons work for android.
I have asked other guys who have done usb c project on the iphone 12 pro the speed of the usb c on the iphone will never get speeds faster than usb 2.0 because lightning don’t go in faster speeds then usb 2.0 it is a shame to apple to not bring usb c on the iphone
yes indeed, there is only one differential data bus going in the mainboard. so it's stuck to USB 2.0 for the moment. but it doesn't mean that the next iPhone will be stuck to USB 2.0 if it still has Lightning. They could give it a 16-pin Lightning connector with USB 3.0. If I remember correctly there was an iPad who had that.
@@ExploringTheSimulation they must stop with making own connectors usb c is the feature and i hope european law will pressure apple to make iphone 14 lineup with usb c.
depends on the model. some phones won't boot without a battery in. sometimes you can trick the phone to think there is a battery by shortening some pins.
You want to connect an external usb ssd to an iPhone? The board can't do that. If you look closely it takes as an input a Lightning MALE cable, so then you have nothing left to plug in your iPhone.
I have an idea for a project: PS5 (or PS4) that can play ps1, ps2 and ps3 discs! Get old hardware (ps2 and/or 60gb ps3 CECHAxx) and take components out (Emotion Engine?) and add it to PS5. I dont know if thats possible but it would be amazing, Sony is sadly not going to add hardware-based Backward Compatibility. Maybe the software is going to make it impossible.
Not impossible but I think it would be more of a software project. If it can be rooted you can imagine installing an emulator. If you want to do a hardware modification it would be kind of like creating a giant PS5 with older PlayStations inside, so not very elegant.
@@universe2170 usually you just need to take of resin bath, losen bed screw, move it to the home position and tighten the screw so you can still pull out paper with a bit of force. Different printers have different calibration steps. You may also need to clean it

Finally a modern day "Iphone" with a headphone jack
