oddly, it is comforting to know that there are many others just like me, miles away, listening to this audiobook on 2x speed the night before a test. Good luck.
Just finished your nuanced and beautiful Gatsby audio.. I read the book during high school (not for course work) when I read almost everything of Scott's. I've seen the films over the years too. I have to say, the novel never hit me as hard as it did today. It was a great experience to come back to Fitzgerald with such a remarkable reading. Thanks for doing it for us all.
I may be one of the few who isn’t a student doing some last minute cramming, but I admit I’ve been there before! I’m here enjoying this classic for maybe my 10th read through, though my first time hearing this audio book version. This is incredible work!! It brings the book to life in a whole new way for me
Possibly the finest writing of the twentieth century. Beautiful use of the English language, many passages that so lyrical in the images they create that they verge on poetry, and incisive, acute observations of human behavior that are pin-point accurate. Stunning work. Very well read. Good work.
Of the original draught, the publisher complained that FSJ hadn't given a physical description of the main character. Zelda made some sketches of her idea of Gatsby for FSJ to work from. We can just imagine that these drawings are lying in an attic somewhere and what they'd be worth.
Sometimes when you read something really you feel like you do know someone. I’ve always felt that way about Gatsby. Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. Means a lot to me.
Your voice sounds so comforting that all my anxiety and Negative thoughts have been drowned out and has left me in this moment. I’m listening to you read the very book I was too busy struggling with my own mind to read on my own. Sir you have helped thousands, and I hope you are very well aware of that. ❤
“The Great Gatsby” will forever remain my favorite American novel. I’ve seen every film version, more than once; I’ve read the most scholarly works about it, read every biography on Fitzgerald I could find, and read the novel at least 12 times in my 60+ years. But hearing you read it aloud brought it to life in a fresh, new way for me. It was like reading it again for the first time. I knew, however, the true test for me was hearing your interpretation of the last few paragraphs, those poignant, elusive dreams lost to Gatsby. I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, it left me breathless. Thank you for your lovely work. Looking forward to listening to more.
I have no obligation to read this book i only do it for pleasure and the amazing voice and interpretation of each character is making this a great experience. Thank you for sharing this great work😊
Not familiar with many other audiobooks, but i like that when you read dialogue, you still use a very similar voice to your narration one, but only slightly different. It's just enough for my brain to understand that a different character is speaking, but without sounding cartoonish or over the top. Very well done.
Your narration is flawless. I’m one chapter away from the end, but I keep going back and listening to previous chapters, as I don’t want it to be over. Thank you for this, it’s such a pleasure to listen to.
Reading this for school and I was having some trouble with it, having to go back reread things multiple times, but reading along with your voice helps comprehension a lot for some reason!
Wow, the fact that your voice has been made to sound like it comes from a radio in 1:20:35 says something about the amount of effort but into reading and making these audiobooks(I won't even start to praise you by saying how naturally well you read). Really wow!
This is the best way to introduce reading as an activity to anyone. I discover so much more TBE second go around. Thank you for this one and it'll be my next book to buy and read.
@@nolanreads... Not only was this a fantastic read but it has made people think comment and argue the points, motivations and epilogue of the story which has been ongoing since its release. That alone says something about the novel.

I have to read this for my English Honors class and do a report on it. Ive always had a hard time focusing on stories, especially ones written in old English, but most audio books just arent that good or cost money. This one is fantastic and free. I thank you so much for this ❤
I disagree (Nick's character had two women "on the line", the one back home and the golfer), but I think the way that Fitzgerald describes Buchanan starting about 11:20, I think Fitzgerald was a closeted gay or bi. Effeminate swank, riding clothes hiding a powerful and cruel body, straining the top lacing of the glistening boots, a pack of muscle shifting. All that just screams gay to me, but in Fitzgerald's era I don't think people saw that as revealing as it was, certainly Fitzgerald didn't or he'd not have publicly said that.
