Thank you for this letsplay series. I can't play your moded minecraft because of my pc, however I really enjoy while watching your series. Every time i'm opening youtube to see if there is a new episode of your letsplay and I hope that you will do all the things, that this mods can give to player. Thank you, dire
Dire! Proposition: use a 3x3 of the Ethereal Glass as a door for your pyramid base. Impossible to leave open, easier to navigate through at high speeds than a 1x2, and *mostly* matches the existing aesthetic. End of Line

33:16 "Hey look! We got dungeon loot!" Not quite. You got the chests and the broken spawner but the contents of the chests are spewed on the ground where the chests were, until they despawn. The quarry doesn't pick up loose items and doesn't handle the breaking of tile entities as well as one might hope.
@@nathantheuer4680 Go on? I mean my statement was true when I wrote it three years ago. So, if you are going to say that the quarry now picks up the entities then that is entirely possible, given three years of work on the mod.
The buildcraft quarry always brought all the dungeon chest loot with no problem. As it will do in my own playthrough. Edit, Well, I hope this is still a thing.
Dire, the cave illuminator needs to have a clear line of sight to the sky in order to work. So you would either have to glitch through the bedrock, or find a way to break it in order to use one in the deep dark.
Also the cave illuminator lights up any area that has less than a certain amount of daylight and torch light. So it will light up any area that has less than 8 light at midday
they're great, they don't have to be in the cave, just above it and have access to see the sky, I also really like the lights it uses, much prettier than torches
It's a great tool. Just place it on the grass close to your base or even on our house and it will illuminate really everything under it in a good radius. Was working perfectly for my mining
If you want to get the void ore miner this series you really need to build it as early as possible. It doesn't drain your RF too badly, but to upgrade it you need to get materials that take a really long time to mine with it and they are only available in the void ore miner. I have been using two of them for 3 days now and I am half way to having enough erodium to upgrade to the 2nd tier. It hasn't seemed to make an impact on my RF production though. I added 2 extra manyulin turbines to the generator though.
I used to love Direwolfs Minecraft videos, but "recently" (like the last year or so) it feels like Minecraft have become more and more of some sort of "Looking in different inventories - simulator 9000" Like a gray inventory can only be interesting for so long (which is a short time). For example, that starlight mod is interesting because much of it is in-world-crafting and when an inventory is needed it looks really fancy, similar with Botania.
Needs to see the NIGHT sky to be very specific. It can be kinda buggy with chunk loading in my experience. Placed one and chunk loaded the area, came back and it has large "piles" of the glowing little ball things instead of spread out and where they are needed.
I find this block to be a lot more appealing in description than in practice, based on my limited experience with it. I’ve just gone back to the tried and true Psi gun for all my lighting needs. Looks better too.
Dire, this is completely up to you, but don't' auto process your nickel. You can combine nickel ore with Cinnabar for 100% chance at platinum in your induction smelter. If you silk touch your Redstone ( either in your quarry or drill) you can get Cinnabar pretty regularly.
If you silk touch your Destabilised Redstone ore then pulverize it you can get twice as much cinnabar... at the cost of 25% less destabilized redstone compared to shoving the ore straight in the magma crucible :o
Dire could have simply set up the builder quarry at the bottom of the cobblestone stairs and used the offset card offset to lower the area down to the floor. He wouldn't have needed to go down and illuminate the area and get killled in the process.
Sadly not, I'm way ahead of dw20 in my playthrough, so i've found the illuminator is a little bit limited in it's uses, unless you're just trying to light caves below your base, to prevent spawns, for example.
Something I like to do with builds like this when I have a negotiable surplus of power for running a quarry, is setup a series of powercells, say 3, as power backlog. Run my base off the last to cell then setup a Redstone toggle on the other two which will turn on my quarry when the third cell fills, and shuts back off when the second drains. This works pretty good if you have a renewable power system that isn't strong enough to run everything but it will never have downtime as it's surplus drains through the quarry.
Void Ore Miners are more your Tech Level than your current Quarry set up to be honest. and you need to invest a lot of time or have a Server running for a long time to get the Ressources for the Next Tiers of Void Ore Miners which are out of your Level of Power right now. Would be a good idea though to set it up now so you can get the Required Materials for higher Tier Miners.
using the filter cards is the efficient way yes but dire is tooo stuck in his ways to realize how truly powerful the builder is when given specific instructions beyond " quarry area ". example filter: whitelist , Draconium ore (its lovely in the end)
Dire, if you wanna get emerald, build the shipping bin from Pams Harvestcraft, a Cloache or 2 from Immersive Engineering, maybe the auto fisher of Thermal and all your Emerald woes are gone. Sure you gota sell manually but just showing up with stacks of fish or produce nets you enough emeralds per full inventory to have no problems whatsoever :) im putting 6 emerald upgrades in my drawers + the void one if ever that much space gets full xD
Meh, I just used Actually Additions block placer to place stone (via an igneous extruder), an atomic reconstructor with lens of the miner to change the stone into an ore etc and a block breaker to mine the ore. It's really fast and runs off a 5x5x4 extreme reactor with the auto mining gaining more yellorium than gets used (by a huge amount).
Please not another void ore miner. This would be the fourth one in a row. I have never seen a Quantum Quarry, but I would really like to see a frame machine.
quatum is the most borring one you place 5 blocks give it a fortune book and some power thats it it's alot more borring then the rf tools one since you dont even need to setup an area, so he could do it in his base and it would be fine. void ore miners I personly like but I only watch his single player let's plays so don't know if he has done alot of it since I only saw it in the aoe pack
Frame miners are cool, but if they are ANYTHING like the ones from the Redpower days, they're a huuuuge drain on computer power, not to mention prone to breaking if in strange ways, and just not worth the hassle. They were popular on Forgecraft for a while back in the day, but were pretty much banned as I recall due to absolutely slaughtering the server. That's not even mentioning the complexities of what can and can't, or shouldn't, be moved with frames.
the actually additions route of transforming cobble into ores with the laser would be a new approach (even if its less efficient). Also that way he could use the refined storage constructor/destructor to place cobble and mine the rest.
ET is totally redesigned so you will be seeing something new. Also, there’s no manual available for the new version currently so it might help some people to see him work through it. Don’t worry, there will be many self-proclaimed experts here yelling at him in the comments to help out as well.
emeralds are easy to obtain from pam's harvestcraft's shipping bin. a little too easy to acquire, but easier than capturing a villager and auto-killing them in a smeltery
Extreme Hills (and its derivatives) is the only vanilla biome that generates Emerald Ore. I personally don't think using Extreme Hills for emeralds is practical long-term, but I guess if it works for some people, then more power to them.
Dire.. please switch to salad as food. I think its possible to make a simple one from stock and beets.. its better saturation than rice bread though.. or do something more complex and automate the best food available for an episode xD but right now you need to eat too often :P please!
There’s always been one but it’s disabled by default if RFTools Dimensions is installed. That’s still the case in this pack. Smartest thing is to get going with a void miner since it will provide those.
Just checked this, seems to be ignoring the config setting now so I suspect this is actually a bug. The configs are set, by default to disable the recipe if RFTDim is installed, and enable the hard mode recipe (which is what you are seeing) if it is not. Regardless of how I flip the config, I still get the hard mode recipe so my guess is that it's not correctly detecting that RFTDim is installed.
illumination wand just uses rf power, no need to carry torches, just a battery, I have found draconium so I built a wyvern power cell to recharge help items.
dire, trust me you either need to get started with an void ore miner early, or build alot of them because the void ore only crystals to upgrade the structures rarely spawn. i get maybe 5 or 6 in an hour of the second tier, after i have 2 void miners.
The whole time he was having stairs built by the MeCreeps illustrates perfectly why I don't like a combination of item voiding and magnet rings. I prefer one or the other but not usually both together.

there is a certain upgrade for the induction furnace that dirrectly double the ore, but since the pulverizer give you sometimes other dust, it's your hcoice, but if you want to make a very powerfull smeltery area, just use furnace with the ore upgrade
Induction furnace can double ores without any upgrades, but it can quadruple them if you give it as specialization and blazing pyrotheum. Also gives two redstone blocks per redstone ore, which is by far the most of any processing mod I've seen (I was looking through ways to process my acceleration wand improved void ore miner (which is so ridiculously brokenly fast, I need 4 translocators to handle the flow of ores)).
Since all the kiddies are demanding what they want in the comments, I figured I’d suggest / request some things I’d appreciate seeing in the series: 1.More Astral Sorcery (and specifically automation if / where it makes sense.). I’m still trying to figure out what I can get from this mod that is unique / better than the alternatives. 2. Botania automation in new and different ways than you’ve done before (e.g. integrated dynamics), including terra steel and the runic altar. New and different being the key phrase here :). 3. Fully exercise Industrial Foregoing to show off the content. ... and for the record I don’t really care if you fix your windows.
chris909090 💬 And I want to see in this series a naked women with a square boobs but no such luck for now =)) But jokes aside maybe Dire REALLY need to make some dire website for himself with votes and requests. Just maybe the time has come.
Why isn't there any energy, teleportation block? Why no tesseracts anymore in Thermal expansion? Why no other option? With my giant modified AllTheMods modpack, I had to use 2 industrialcraft geothermal generators with an electrical motor from buildcraft and an ender tank hooked to the geothermal generators alimented by buildcraft pumps in the nether. Ender tank for the items, of course. Can't believe I managed to get this quarry rather early in my playthrough.
Is there a way to customize the tool tip at the top of the screen that tells which block you're looking at? I saw someone was playing and theirs was blue and in the top left
Just as a reminder: For fast ore doubling you can use the flux anodizer augment for the redstone furnace. It's much faster than pulverizing first, but doesn't yield any secondary resource, which you don't need if you automatically mine ores (except maybe for nickel since that's the only way to get platinum). Edit: I know platinum has an ore and you can get it with laser/void ore miners and possibly other ways. I meant just right this moment.
and gold is a gonna be qiet the problem for him for a while to since he does not run the world except when playing. So copper needs to be there to and the secondery outputs are great for the early stages to. I even get more pulversiers and furnaces and upgrade to increse secondery outputs instead requiers more power to proces sure but I take a long time before setting up quarrys so it worth it for me
Actually, platinum does have an ore - I think it might still be called Shiny Ore from the earlier days of Thermal, back when it was Shiny Metal and Ferrous, instead of Nickel and Platinum. As a matter of fact, I believe it was mostly other mods and the ore dictionary that decided Ferrous was Nickel and Shiny was Platinum. Don't take my word for it though, it's really just a hunch.
Platinum Ore is called Platinum Ore and you can get it from any mining method (including manual mining). AA lens of the miner, Orechid, and void miner all provide it.
Enviromental Tech is definitly in reach for your tech level. I am liss developped in my world and I have a void ore miner that is running constantly. I'm just waiting for it to generate enoth Lithorithe for a solar array so I can get the extra power for running a resource miner and maybe also the plant stuff miner (I totally forgot that name) But at least the ore miner is perfectly fine to be run with an advanced generator with 2 manyullyn turbines.
the one problem that im seeing with quantum quarry is without any upgrades it uses 20,000rf/t so you need alot of rf/t and even a nether star generator without upgrades only gives 4,000rf/t..
@direwolf20 the cave illuminator needs too see the sky inorder to work Dire thats why yours didnt work. So it kinda works like most things in A.S. :3 hope that helps
How come when I go to set keys not all mods are displayed i.e my flux capacitor won't change modes it says press none but I cant set the key cause it's not in the config
I would loved if he wore some Magic Based armor honestly... they dont make you invincible like RFTools but at least they are nice the RFTools one almost feels cheaty ! and Magical Armors are nice because they have all kinds of fancy features !
It's the flux infused armor he talk about, an for that one you need two time more diamonds than the regular diamonds armor,,, wich is totally worth it, utill you want to do Draconic Evolution stuff.
I find the best way to light the deep dark is tinkers glowballs four stacks of those and you can light a huge area also you can stand at the bottom of your staircase and throw them to the floor level
Yeah, Psi is definitely the best way to light up the deep dark. In my 1.10 world I had a spell you could loopcast to light up a huge area all at once. Though it would quickly kill you if you don't pay attention to your energy bar.
Meekreeps are a bit OP. The main problem is that they break blocks easily. They should require tools for their job and the breaking speed should be dependant on that tool. Just a thought though ^^
I use the clear area function for manual mining... need wood? 2x2 tree chopping... this all wouldnt be a bad thing if you had to pay 1/4 of your hunger, taking Only 1/5 if you cancel the order by reimbursing some.. anyway, this mod was made to remove tedious tasks, so it being a little too powerfull isnt a bad thing. ;)
May as well play creative then. The main problem is that it feels overpowered. I have no issues at all with block placing/teleporting, but the fact that he breaks blocks like he is in creative makes it feel really OP. He should require tools for the job.
Agreed! I also think that they need tools for their job. And a recipe or a blueprint for it. And a weekends. And a promotions. And an insurance. And a strikes. And a trade unions. As for now life is just too simple.
Doubtful there’s any sort of converter mod since that’s usually considered a huge exploit on the IC2 side. Immersive Engineering connectors / cables might work though - I’m pretty sure they used to.
You could use the actually additions lava factory into a geothermal generator or a magma crucible with a pyrokinetic loop augment fed with either cobble or for better production netherack.
Just doing some catching up so I know this video is like 2 months old, but... 10 episodes ago: hey, we have frames in this pack and I love using them and they're super cool and fun to play with. This episode: sets up the most simplistic and basic quarry possible instead of building Uberminer 3.0 - smh
dire please make a power box with compact blocks. having. a portable generating block. like endertank lava into it. many some extra utils thing. make something fun. would be amazing.
If you mean imbalanced, could do the same exact thing with a diamond pipe filtering into a void pipe in old minecraft, if you do mean nonfunctional then as the nerds above say its currently working fine
KingFishey nope it doesn’t, the feature doesn’t void the items it just doesn’t mine it, it goes directly to the ores like a digital miner ( and it works just fine ) it seems tooooo cheap for the amount of ores you get
@direwolf20 Use autocrafters from RfTools and stuff to automate some Food from Pams like Lunch Sandwich which isnt hard to make and gives alot of hungerpoints. Would be like if you ate something better thn Rice bread, don't ya think :D

Also gives two redstone blocks per redstone ore, which is by far the most of any processing mod I've seen (I was looking through ways to process my acceleration wand improved void ore miner (which is so ridiculously brokenly fast, I need 4 translocators to handle the flow of ores)).
@23:26 Your Welcome
Vashta Narada! I should have thought of that, I loved that episode of new who.
Since all the kiddies are demanding what they want in the comments, I figured I’d suggest / request some things I’d appreciate seeing in the series:
1.More Astral Sorcery (and specifically automation if / where it makes sense.). I’m still trying to figure out what I can get from this mod that is unique / better than the alternatives.
2. Botania automation in new and different ways than you’ve done before (e.g. integrated dynamics), including terra steel and the runic altar. New and different being the key phrase here :).
3. Fully exercise Industrial Foregoing to show off the content.
... and for the record I don’t really care if you fix your windows.
chris909090 💬 And I want to see in this series a naked women with a square boobs but no such luck for now =))
But jokes aside maybe Dire REALLY need to make some dire website for himself with votes and requests.
Can't believe I managed to get this quarry rather early in my playthrough.
im not sure the cave illuminator will work with out access to the sky for the starlight power
where do i download his world saves?
For the wireless things if you use leadstone pipes and use wrench to open a connection will it transfer to those like it was with the enderio pipes.
no it will not that got fixed
is this is a modpack? if it is what modpack name is it for I can play it.
njw466 it is
It's available through twitch launcher
ok
Is there a way to customize the tool tip at the top of the screen that tells which block you're looking at? I saw someone was playing and theirs was blue and in the top left
You need The One Probe Note (I think that’s the name). Shift-right click and it will let you adjust the position and size.
I even get more pulversiers and furnaces and upgrade to increse secondery outputs instead requiers more power to proces sure but I take a long time before setting up quarrys so it worth it for me
Laser Drills will get you Platinum Ore over time.
Yeah I know, I just meant right now.
Every species has an irrational fear o the dark, but it's not irrational...it's vashta Nerada!!
his floor reminds me a bit of the top of some pies, with the woven strips of tan
Dont you have flux networks in this pack?
the one problem that im seeing with quantum quarry is without any upgrades it uses 20,000rf/t so you need alot of rf/t and even a nether star generator without upgrades only gives 4,000rf/t..
The thing is, 20k rf a tick is nothing for an Endergenic Generator. especially with the things that Dire has made in the past.
Dimensional shards have a crafting recipe in this pack
Diretime! Neat!
Omni stuf from integrated dynamics is good for power transport across dimensions
@direwolf20 the cave illuminator needs too see the sky inorder to work Dire thats why yours didnt work. So it kinda works like most things in A.S. :3 hope that helps
23:25 What was that dire?
Dim shards can be crafted now.
_heyitspezz heyitspezz you can get them from oregen its dimensional shard ore.
They have always been able to be crafted, it just that the recipe is disabled if RFTDim is installed.
I know how you get them. But you don't need to wait to get them in a RFTOOLS dim or a void miner is what I'm saying.
So what was the final "death count" in this episode? ;-)
hi direwolf, i mind your windows right behind the terminals are not sentered ;)
I noticed too, OCD :p
They have been like that since they were built. Ppl have commented every episode since...
How come when I go to set keys not all mods are displayed i.e my flux capacitor won't change modes it says press none but I cant set the key cause it's not in the config
I believe the flux capacitor mode is the "cycle item mode" key. Instead of showing the mod it says CoFH Keys.
Diretime!
I would loved if he wore some Magic Based armor honestly... they dont make you invincible like RFTools but at least they are nice the RFTools one almost feels cheaty ! and Magical Armors are nice because they have all kinds of fancy features !
RFTools doesn't have armor.
Botania add is own armors sets, an the top tier one is quite op.
Really? I think Terra Steel armor sucks. I’d call it UP given the cost.
How can RFTools armor feel cheaty when it doesn’t exist?
It's the flux infused armor he talk about, an for that one you need two time more diamonds than the regular diamonds armor,,, wich is totally worth it, utill you want to do Draconic Evolution stuff.
I think the cave illuminator needs view to the sky to work.
More turbines for the generator!
DireWolf use induction smelter to process ores, look for recipe for rich slag as it's a byproduct
I find the best way to light the deep dark is tinkers glowballs four stacks of those and you can light a huge area also you can stand at the bottom of your staircase and throw them to the floor level
The best way to light anything is with the Psi CAD.
A bit OP is an understatement
I use the clear area function for manual mining... need wood? 2x2 tree chopping... this all wouldnt be a bad thing if you had to pay 1/4 of your hunger, taking Only 1/5 if you cancel the order by reimbursing some.. anyway, this mod was made to remove tedious tasks, so it being a little too powerfull isnt a bad thing. ;)
It’s an early game helper for tedious tasks. Not everything needs to be hardcore mode.
How do you convert between grid power and rf
You can't, it's not like RF or EU.
Steffan Kitchener thanks so much!
am I missing something, or is there no way to convert RF to EU in this pack?
Doubtful there’s any sort of converter mod since that’s usually considered a huge exploit on the IC2 side. Immersive Engineering connectors / cables might work though - I’m pretty sure they used to.
they don't anymore. why even have IC2 in the pack...it's power is shit.
You could use the actually additions lava factory into a geothermal generator or a magma crucible with a pyrokinetic loop augment fed with either cobble or for better production netherack.
I already have a reactor that makes plenty of RF, that's why I was wondering if you could convert it.
Yeah, geothermal generators from ic2 generate eu. Lava factory from actually additions uses rf.
Just doing some catching up so I know this video is like 2 months old, but... 10 episodes ago: hey, we have frames in this pack and I love using them and they're super cool and fun to play with. This episode: sets up the most simplistic and basic quarry possible instead of building Uberminer 3.0 - smh
I love this modpack, I only miss EnderIO
Make sure you make lunarpanels so you have lots of gp at any time
why you take torches with you if you dont use them at all?!
garcipat _
Dire God
23:25 Dire's turning into a Zombie!
Uriei lol
I miss the Ender Quarry
Please tell me that if you through chicken into the dark of the deep dark it wi turn into a bone
dire please make a power box with compact blocks. having. a portable generating block. like endertank lava into it. many some extra utils thing. make something fun. would be amazing.
#diretime
I've never really had trouble with Emeralds. This is partly because I know how to make a Village if I can't find one nearby. #zombiedoctor
I just use the Pam’s Shipping Crate and sell my crops. Way easier and more options than relying on villagers.
08:00 you're the one that derped
Come oooon just get the fking quarry going sometime! Taking foreveeeeeeeeerrrr
The episode name is "the most wanted"
The ignore dirt, sand and stuff feature on the builder is totally broken
Works fine for me, always has.
Works for me as well
If you mean imbalanced, could do the same exact thing with a diamond pipe filtering into a void pipe in old minecraft, if you do mean nonfunctional then as the nerds above say its currently working fine
KingFishey nope it doesn’t, the feature doesn’t void the items it just doesn’t mine it, it goes directly to the ores like a digital miner ( and it works just fine ) it seems tooooo cheap for the amount of ores you get
Arthur Fair enough, I thought you were talking about the void option that was used in this video, not the filter.
How is he so many episodes in and is still using that terrible rice bread?!?
Lmao Direwolf20 doesn't know about the dimensional shard crafting recipe XD he gonna facepalm later
Dire really needs to make a shield and learn how to fight with it.... that would IMMENSELY help with his survival rate.
also the dark killed you in the deep dark
I just use a one shot clever. Killed the wither in like 5 hits
dire time!
Is it just me or does the deep dark seem not as dangerous as it was in old version?
It's not just you, the deep dark used to almost scare me before.
Apparently it’s just you and the other guy.
@direwolf20 Use autocrafters from RfTools and stuff to automate some Food from Pams like Lunch Sandwich which isnt hard to make and gives alot of hungerpoints.
Would be like if you ate something better thn Rice bread, don't ya think :D
in the last season he had automated beef wellingtons, im surprised he hasn't automated anything yet, but then again I've only just started using autocrafting from refined storage.
