Yeah I know man ''Thank You'' is a great song haha I know all Zep songs there my favourite band but Beatles were the best tho in terms of world changing
Sorry, but Zeppelin's early albums were NOT released to critical acclaim. They were largely dismissed by critics and treated pretty badly. It's the entire reason IV was released without any reference to the band or band members, with symbols only (beating Prince on this by a coupe of decades). It was only after the release of IV that they began to gain the critical appreciation they were due. However, it took many years before their true greatness was properly appreciated.
Zeppelin is everything. They're one of the softest, yet hardest bands in history. Zep was all over the place.. dabbling in folk, pop, hard rock, blues, metal, and classical. They're my favourite band... and although I may have some biases... I'm well aware of the criticisms and agree with some. Were they a metal band? No.. but you can't say they didn't have elements of metal and were one of the pioneering bands in that genre. I think most metal artists would tend to agree.
Even has elements of metal, it's just folk rock, blues rock and hard rock. Metal is Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Blind Guardian, Pantera, Slayer, Black Sabbath, etc. XD
Miklos Salomon Lopez Zeppelin was the first band to be labeled as Heavy Metal by critics even though the band didn't like the title. Obviously there were much heavier bands that came after them but they're probably the first. It is debated wether Zeppelin or Sabbath are the first major band to make metal music.
The second highest selling band ever. But considering the way they changed the industry, probably the most powerful band ever. You may never see another band whose every member shows up in every top 10 for their skill. ( Page is the greatest ever).
Beatles = BEST Zeppelin = FAVORITE There IS a difference ! And let me say this... my "secret fave" Zep song is "Carouselambra". The middle when Jimmy hits the A-B-A--- C !!! chords... and Plant yells, "I heard the WOORRRD.." ahhhhhh....
Plant was asked in an interview about Stairway, did the crowd love it when you guys 1st played it. He laughed and said, I think the crowds were board when we 1st played it.
And another funny thing... the title track to "Houses Of The Holy".... is on the NEXT album !!! "Physical Grafitti" !!! "We didn't have room for it". That took some balls. Like NO title for Zep 4 or ANY words ANYWHERE on jacket (Atlantic Records absolutely hated that).
You forgot "Coda" album, the compilation of song unused on other records, released after Bonzo's death (R.I.P. John Bohnam, the greatest drummer of them all).
I find it incredibly tragic that John Bonham AND John Lennon, 2 rock legends died within 2 months of each other. Bonham in October, and Lennon in December.
Nothing in The History of Led Zeppelin about how the group got its name? I only know it vaguely, something about Plant (or somebody) wanting to call his new group The New Yardbirds and Clapton (or somebody) saying "That'll go over like a lead zeppelin". Or something like that. I was kind of looking forward to a more definitive account.
dwc1964 can't remember who it was, maybe Keith Moon from The Who like the guy above said, but they were jamming with someone and he (keith Moon?) said something like, "We should start a band, it's gonna fly like a Led Balloon!" Page or whoever it was liked the sound of it and changed it to Led Zeppelin. I THINK, this is correct.
dwc1964 it was John Entwistle of the who, page, plant, moon, and entwistle had an idea of a supergroup and entwistle joked that it would go down like a "lead" zeppelin if it were to happen. They then changed it to "led" as to not confuse us americans haha
To everyone saying this isn't heavy metal, think about the other music of the time, they're considered heavy metal because it was way heavier than any other music before it and they were the founders of heavy metal along side Black Sabbath. Although now everyone would think of them as hard rock because of all the heavier music there is to compare it to now. This is why they are heavy metal!!
Jakob Holt Listen to Going to California, The Battle of Evermore, The Rain Song, and most of Led Zeppelin III, far from Heavy Metal. Communication Breakdown, Immigrant Song, and Achilles Last Stand approach metal, but that's really about it.
You must mean music artists (why do people leave out the "music" part on these lists I'll never know). They have nothing on Bach, Beethoven, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Shakespere, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Frost, etc. Again...Music artists...respect!!!
Hello, I am seeking a Led Zeppelin Historian. I am hoping you can help me. They found the two people on the cover of the Woodstock album wrapped in the blanket. In the RUclips video "Led Zeppelin - Since I've been loving you Live (HD)" there is a girl in the audience that they pan to twice. She is a dark haired girl with major blue eyeliner on. They show her first at 2:37 and again at 7:46 at the end of this video. I have been watching this particular video for years and I have always wondered if we can find out what happened to this girl like we found out what happened to the two people on the Woodstock album cover? Thanks very much.
Some people don't count it as an actual Led Zeppelin album, because it was released just to fulfill their contract with Atlantic Records after Bonham's death (being just a compilation of songs that didn't make it into their previous albums).
