@@MountainsMulletsMerica Darn tootin. Great stuff. Subbed for sure. You out in Wyoming? Idaho? I've been fortunate to do some ELR out in Idaho a few times. And west Texas.
@@Whiskey.Tango.Actual I’m located in eastern Washington state. Very different terrain than most folks imagine you’ll find in wa. Epic for long range shooting!
@@MountainsMulletsMericaSpokane suburbs? I’m thinking about moving out west, would you recommend Washington State over Idaho and Montana for big game and long range hunting? Cougars and elk are a must on my list.
@@intuitivefugitive8852 Stay out of Washington dude. They have leftist from Commiefornia there now voting dumbocrat and they're passing all kinds of anti gun laws now.
Recently stumbled across this channel and binge watched a ton of your stuff. Very well put together stuff man, solid shooting, great background, and relevant info. I can see this channel continuing to grow! 🤙
Your videos are first rate! Your production values are top notch and the content is highly informative and real world relevant. I've used the 36 yard zero for years and believe it is the best all around zero for an AR 15 using 55 grain 5.56 ammo. Keep the videos coming!
Appreciate the support! My goal is to create entertaining but informative content. Tell you what the more I run the 36yd zero the more I wish I would’ve discovered how much I like it sooner haha
Started the video thinking that 300 would be max effective range for this setup that is reliable and usable. I think the video really confirmed my thoughts. I also think you’d see a complete lack of ammo performance much past 300 anyway considering the velocity you get from an 11.5. Hits don’t matter if they aren’t effective. I think if you’re planning on stepping it up past 300 you’re probably better served by an AR10 with a full length barrel and some magnified optic.
M,M,M… Again, an outstanding video on red dot accuracy on an AR. As an added bonus to collecting data, it would have been very interesting to see what the difference is between a 5.56 M855 62 grain green tip and 55 grain 223 FMJ at 100 yards. Great job!
Really appreciate your support of the channel! I’ll put some kind of 100 yd accuracy comparison on the to do list to show how various bullets perform for me at 100 yds. Let me know if you have anything else you’d like to see!
Great video you have excellent content, good ideas, and the landscape you shoot on is beautiful. Would love to see a 14-5 or 16” with the same conditions. I’d like to see match ammo with those and the 11.5” Keep up the good work
@@MountainsMulletsMerica midway has a steady supply of the IWI 77grain razor core. It has got pricey, but they always have it. Used to get that for .66 cents a round middle of last year.
@@Whipcat yeah man, I’ve bought a ton of IMI 77gr ammo through midway through the years. I’m sure you’ll see a ton of imi 77gr get shot on the channel in future videos haha
Great set up. I like this test for a combat setup. I concur 100% on the 300 yard practical distance and I shoot the same with mine. I’ve gone out to 400 with consistency but really, my 11.5 in is for close in work…but we can go out to distance when required. Well done!
That’s a goal of the channel…. I want to put out content that the bulk of the viewing population can relate too. One big area is ammo choice. Sure shooting expensive match grade ammo provides superior results to something like m193 or m855 but how many of us are actually running that more expensive ammo in our “fighting rifles”? Lots more content like this in the works so hope you’ll stay tuned!
I have tested my 11.5" SBR (Sionics RGP chrome lined barrel + Specwar 556 can) out to 500yds with my PA 2moa MicroDot and then my T1 3.4moa on a reduced sized IPSC. First round hits at 500 were still easy and consistent. Did not have a calibrated range further than that. Shot off my backpack, not a sweet bipod like you use. Granted, Geissele SSA-E + my 20:10 vision made it easier than most, I suppose. Was "dotting the i" at 500. bisected the dot with the top of the head at 400. 300 was a face shot. 200 was easy because I zero for 50/200. I was using Federal XM193 brown box from my agency's training stash. 70gr Barnes TSX and Hornady 70gr GMX TAP made missing a rarity, and holds weren't much higher from 300 and in (holds were the same past 300 despite slower initial muzzle velocity than XM193 55gr; better BC's matter). 77gr OTM from Black Hills, easier still. Heavier bullets carried a LOT more energy past 300 and made hearing hits (and even seeing the steel swing) vastly easier.
I think its important that everyone understand that a "fighting rifle" without a bipod and a rear bag won't get this kind of performance. Also, the environmental conditions in the video look to be optimal. In a fighting situation, you likely won't have optimal conditions, let alone time to set up a bipod, rear bag, and take a very deliberate shot. Everyone training with a fighting rifle should be training with "fighting" conditions. I understand the video is purely for information and entertainment purposes. Pushing a rifles limits is always fun.
Oh man, an sbr with 1x optic is epic for short range work. Pretty cool to see what a package like that is capable of at distance…. Typically folks think these setups are only good to a couple hundred yards but I’m thinking in the rifle conditions they are capable of much more. Now I’m wanting a magnifier haha
I have an 11.5" Super duty and have always wondered my own hit probability out to 500 yards (I have a simple red dot with a 3x) but don't have the land for it. As always, great content!!
Oh man with a magnifier I think you’d be surprised how well you’d be able to connect on a full size torso type target out to 500 yds. 2 main things about the red dot held me back at distance…. Lack of ability to see my impacts to make corrections and having to hold off the target in space. I’m thinking a magnifier would help with each of these variables.
Another awesome video! The Army’s qualification range (when I was in) is/was 50-300m. During my early years, we used iron sights on the M16A1-A2. Later, Depending on your duty position, determined what optic you got. Many had a red dot of some sort (14.5 M4) and some had ACOGs. For your video, I anticipated reasonable hits at 300 on the full-size plate. Anything past that is icing on the cake.
Thank you! You know I felt pretty confident taking those 200 and 300 yd shots. Beyond that at 400 and 500 is where the confidence really dropped off due to several reasons. I’m actually working on an acog video now, exact same concept so stay tuned! Can’t wait to see how far out I feel confident with the 4x mag and bdc.
@@MountainsMulletsMerica You’re very welcome. Eye sight is a big contributing factor whether one can make good hits at range, especially w irons or a red dot. Nowadays, I’m struggling past 200, and that’s why I’m considering a two optic combo (dot/LPVO in a bag) if I opt out of a magnifier. The ACOG seemed to be a Jack of all trades, a master of none except for its brutal toughness. Prior to a trip to Afghanistan, we shot stnd M4s with M855 on a KD range at 700m. While not match grade in the slightest, it was effective enough to know one could be effective enough to alter a threat’s decision making process out to 700m. Looking forward to your review!
@@johnw4999 Alter a threats decision making process..... that's the best line I've heard in a long time haha. I'm hoping to make consistent hits out to 600 so based on your experience it sounds very plausible.
No wind the Palouse?! That’s the most amazing aspect of the video. 😂 Excellent shooting. I was amazed you were still hitting consistently at 400 yards.
Love this video and the premise. Too often people will focus on adding more with out putting in the effort on their own skill and abilities. The gear will help but the shooter is the most important factor of every shot
Man this might be the most accurate comment I’ve had on any video since launching the channel. Gear is fun and enhances our ability to shoot but only if the shooter already has the fundamentals of marksmanship mastered. As with anything, the more work you put into practice and training, the more successful your end results will be!
Man the rolling wheat fields in eastern WA are a long range shooting paradise! Very thankful to have access to such a cool place to shoot. Thanks for watching!
Your integrity shows when you admit things like, "There was a lot of luck involved, and it was not repeatable." Appreciate your doing this test. These days I'm thinking red dots are the new iron sights.
I was hitting pretty consistently at 560 with a 16 inch and an eotech on a ipsc sized target. I had someone spotting me so that helps a ton. I've got a coyote at 440 with that same gun and eotech.
Also just once again, your clarity of explanation about what you are dojng and why, and the manner in which you speak is just really nice to watch. And just because I ask everyone I watch these days...would you please get a ballistic Dummy and get a 14.5 or something close, and shoot it out to 200, 300, 400 etc with a 77gr otm and see definitively where the round actually stops being lethal? I just want to actually see it instead of relying on well velocity should be this at x distance so it stops being useful etc. Thanks for reading this novel lol
Appreciate it! I’m just a normal guy with a simple mind so I have to keep things simple for my own understanding haha. Man I’d love to do some ballistic testing with something like a ballistic dummy but wow those are pricey. It’ll be a while before I can invest in something like that for the channel but I have been looking into some home made ballistic gel, that might be a more realistic option. Like you I’m super curious what realistic performance looks like vs just the theory.
@Mountains, Mullets, Merica! thank you for the response! I don't know if you could start a go fund me or something but I would absolutely donate toward the purchase of one of those dummies...I just looked at the price tag and Holy moly you are correct. I would even donate towards the materials for home made ballistic gel if needed. Once again thank you for taking the time to respond, have a great weekend!
What’s realistic is determined by the sub tension of the dot. A 2 MOA dot will subtend to 12 inches at 600 yards so a target with an aiming bull big enough to understand the sight to target relationship will assure a hit. What’s big enough is probably 36 inches as confirmed with 600 yard high power rifle competition bullseye. It can be seen by naked eye and the dot can be centered easily within the bullseye or hold 12 to 15 MOA high. BTW, iron sights can get good hits at 1000 yard without need to even see the target if position of target is known and something which can be held on can be seen from which a proper sight adjustment can be made.
A place to consistently hold was my challenge at 500 yds with the red dot. Dot size was okay for me given it was a 2moa dot vs an 18” plate but when I was holding over for elevation and some slight windage it was very difficult to find the same aiming point twice. Life would’ve been a lot easier with a spotter as well haha
Just what I was looking for to see how far out you can hit with a Red Dot MRO. Just bought one thinking up to 200 yards could be consistent but you certainly exceeded my expectations. I bought my AR for home area self defence figuring an average practicality between 10 and 75 yards. Because of range limitations had to zero at 25 yards and it put me on at 100. Using 5.56 with a green dot Trigicon MRO. Confident and pleased with the package. Great video, really nice to see how far impacts can be. Thank you.
I have a Romeo 5 red dot on my AR and a Holosun 3x magnifier, I can get consistent groups of 8 inch at 100 yards. My regular rifle range goes out to 100 yards, I typically use an 8 inch splash target in the middle. Anything outside of the splash target (usually maybe 1 inch) I consider a miss. For self defensive purposes that is good enough for me.
You did a great job showing how well your skills fits the sight. Have you ever reached the point of not needing to turn on the red dot? This is something that happens after thousands of rounds through the same gun, you know where the impact will be and all you need is to look at the target. In my youth, I got this way with a 270 Win and a 40 S&W pistol. Hitting a moving target is point and shoot. As you have noticed, RUclips is full of novice shooters with big egos, and they always show they don't know how to help others with gun related content. Most of them label me as a troll, as my 40 years of long range shooting skills steps on their inflated ego.
Underrated channel! You have helped me a ton! Watched your video on a 36/300 yard zero and decided I would hunt coyotes with that, after that I determined based of this video that I could hit 300 with a red dot! Swapped out my scope with a red dot and now my hunting rig is very light and effective out to 300 which is as far as I engage coyotes any way! Thank you
Yep can’t argue with you there. The thing that really held me back was the lack of ability to spot my impacts at the longer distances. Really hard to make corrections if you can’t see what’s going on down range. I’m thinking I might revisit this one with a magnifier as I think that would drastically improve effective range.
Outstanding Footage. EO-Tech CQB Always Ruled The Day For Us DownRange. Urban Compared To Extended Open Areas Where Wind Is A Taking Names Changer Was When Our Better Optics Change Out Was Necessary Especially At Night. Relaxed Shooting Is Far More Consistent Compared To Under The Most Extreme Combat Missions. I Have Almost All My Firearms 0 At 36 Yards. Keep It Coming.
I’d say the enemy will be in camo and 500 yards will become even harder. Recently saw a post where a guy inquired about 200 yards with 450 Bushmaster and red dot for hunting. Most comments were heck no. A few said yes. 40 year’s hunting experience and I know the difficulty in getting on target in low light, wooded, looking into the sun’s direction at a target blending into its surroundings. Great fun video, I just hope people realize that was absolutely perfect conditions.
Couldn’t agree with you more…. I couldn’t have asked for better conditions to shoot this video. No wind, big white targets in open wheat fields, no movement etc. While it’s certainly possible to push a red dot out to distances more than a couple hundred yards, it’s not exactly practical. The lack of magnification makes it next to impossible to ID your target, get a consistent and confident hold on the target or spot your misses/ impacts. Really I’d only feel confident using a red dot to take a shot where I’m actually holding the dot on the target.
Awesome videos, very informative. I’ve watched several of your videos, one again awesome work. I’m subscribed now. Keep up the good work. I would also like to see a video with an ACOG on a 16 inch rifle
Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and support the channel! So I’m actually hoping to film the bulk of an acog video if weather cooperates today. It’s on my 14.5” block ii upper though, I don’t actually own a 16” upper anymore. Stay tuned!
@Mountains, Mullets, Merica! I think every channel has its niche in what they do well. Not trying to tell what content to produce on your channel, of course, but I really enjoy what you are doing now! Keep it up!
This is why I love red dots..they are light and nimble and fully capable at practical distances. Magnified optics really take away the handiness of a fast and light carbine….I will say I love the reticle in the eotech, it allows you to measure the distance of your target out to 300 yards
100% agree. For the intended purpose of most short barrel carbines a red dot is a very effective optic choice. Keeps the rifle light and easy to maneuver but provides a sighting system that can be pushed to distance occasionally if needed. Funny you mention the eotech, I liked the one I ran in my combat optic review video enough that I decided to buy it from my buddy haha. Stay tuned as I’ll have more eotech content coming soon! Thanks for watching!
Very nice. I have Knights rifles too. I also have one red dot and it’s an old push button PA micro. It’s the only one I can stand. I got rid of my Aimpoint within a few months. I can’t stand the Aimpoint illumination. When I get it as bright as I need to work with a white light the optic creates a red ring around the outer edge of the glass. My PA dot has never done that.
I think I'll stick with my old Nikon 223 bdc - lol - there is no way I could hit like that at those distances with my old eyes!!! Fantastic shooting and another wonderful video - I would still love to see your reloading setup - possible video???
Your channel should be much bigger. You are doing what a lot of us dream of trying someday; and you are doing many things better than I would have done even in my daydreams. Thanks for the ideas boss.
Man really appreciate the support! The channel has been experiencing a ton of growth lately and I’m very thankful for it! Just out here trying to create entertaining and valuable shooting content. Hope you’ll stay tuned for future videos and make sure to share with your buddies!
Thank you, really appreciate the support! While I was able to make hits beyond 300 in this video I’d say that is the realistic max for a 1x red dot. The lack of magnification makes target id and spotting your own shots next to impossible…. Both of which are very important for shooting at distance.
Great video man! Exactly what I needed to watch today. I recently converted my AR pistol to a block 2 pinned. I have an old 512 in an adm mount on her currently. But I am getting a bonus in March where I’m getting a trijicon sco and a dead air sandman. It’s nice having a vid like this to show what the true potential of a rifle with a red dot because dang son you can shoot. Cheers bro I hope your channel blows up it’s amazing
Keep in mind the shooting in this video was in absolute perfect conditions. If I had any wind or had to shoot from less than ideal positions my hit percent would’ve noticeably dropped off at longer distances. That said however, it’s cool to know what’s possible as a baseline for comparison. Now I’m wanting a magnifier haha
Nice job! I think your setup did great for a 11 1/2” AR15. The furthest I’ve made with my 10.5” is 300 yards and it was fairly easy. Never went past that but I’m sure I could of made hits to 400. Good stuff!
Oh man for sure you could've connected at 400yds. I think the key here is consistent windage conditions and confidence in your 400 yd holdover based on the zero you're running. Shooting at distance with a red dot is very possible..... spotting your impacts and making corrections on misses however is a different story haha
I think you did incredibly well. I think 200-300 yards is absolutely max distance for practical application. I definitely want my P4Xi because of my astigmatism. But you picked a perfect day to shoot. That wind day I had a few days ago I'm sure you would have run into some issues. But excellent work as always. I enjoyed the video.
Totally agree, I'd call 200-300 the realistic max. Like you say, I was shooting in absolute perfect conditions. If I had any wind it would've become really challenging to judge a consistent wind hold and the lack of ability to spot my misses would've made it super hard to correct. Add a magnifier though and I think the long range capability vastly improves. Thanks for the continued support!
What brand of AR-style rifles do you prefer? I love your content, and I hope you keep it up. At one point, you were going to compare 308 to 6.5 Creedmore; I hope you do that. Also, a comparison of all of the PRCs would be fascinating.
I would like to see you try out iron sights at long range. A guy on RUclips has videos of him taking an AR to 1000 yards with what looks like mil-spec irons.
impressive for the barrel length. I hit out to 800 yrds but that was with a 18" barrel. Using a red dot also. Had a spotter walking me in. By the time I had it locked in, I was basically shooting halfway up the side of a hill and no where near having the target in my optic. The target was also a buffalo gong so waaay larger target. Pretty sure I was using a smaller grain .223 and not 5.56. Back before I started to understand ballistics. Good shooting!
I’d say the key to pushing a red dot out to distance is a spotter. The key thing that I felt like held me back here was the fact that I couldn’t spot my own impacts at distance. It’s basically impossible to see where a little 55gr bullets lands from 500 yds away with the naked eye haha
Using a Rock River Elite Comp with a 16 inch 1 in9 twist with a aim point pro and using 55 grain bullet I can hit a 600 yard target 5 out of 10 shots. It was a very calm day and about 80° temp.
First time seeing your stuff.... Really like your presentation and style, actually VERY informative as well ... Not a lot of BS or anything... Straight Gear, shooting and Results
Thank you! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch. Hope you’ll stay tuned as I’ve got so much more content just like this planned for the channel this year. Just wish I could spend more time filming and less time working haha
@@MountainsMulletsMerica I hear that, just wish I had more money to spend more time shooting as well.... Especially when my range is right outside my door lol
Great content! I tested 7.62x39 with 5.5" barrel LBPistol, zero for 50-200 tested up to 100 yards. (Range limits) ~5" spread. I drop aim 6"s low at 100. Dot looks like 2x2 wide on target so basically covers spread.
That's about what I expected out of that size barrel. Not bad at all. That's a pretty nice e setup for sure. Another great video!!! Keep em coming brother....
Man I had a blast down in texas! Texasplinking is an awesome dude! Hoping to spend the weekend filming content…. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates
I think what pulled me away from red dots only was a range trip where the targets were not the most visible. I really started to struggle past 150yds. On ranges where the targets were easily identified 500 yds was doable.
Man cannot argue with this…. Shooting wise red dots are very capable. The drawback is 1x and not being able to truly see what you’re shooting at distance.
Thank you! I’m thinking I’ll revisit this concept shortly In some fresh content. Want to give some 77gr ammo and an eotech with bdc reticle and magnifier a try. Stay tuned as I think that’ll be a fun video!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica Would definitely like to see this done with a couple different barrel lengths and different ammo types to see the accuracy and trajectory changes!!!! Maybe even a round with a Magnifier at the end to see how much easier it makes things!!!
@@ThePatriotParadox man you’re reading my mind… I’ve actually picked up an eotech with magnifier to use out to distance, and Ive got a video idea around 5.56 barrel length and performance at distance. Just need to find an 18” or 20” barrel to round out the comparison. Stay tuned!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica That sounds like something I wanna see!!! Do you find regular height scope mounts work fine for quick acquisition? Or do you need a 1.93 high mount?
@@ThePatriotParadox I've actually never used a 1.93 mount.... I've thought about giving one a try someday but haven't ever felt the need to swap from 1.5". It seems like 1.93 would be awkward for precision shooting where you spend a lot of time prone.
So yeah, that's interesting. I wonder if those flyers are because of the optic or ammo? Could be either-or. But yes, that's a much better hit ratio than I expected with a 1× red dot. As always, great video.
Hard to say, I’d say it was mostly the optic. Hard to get concerned about accuracy shooting a 1x optic. Also that’s just 55gr ball ammo so not really match grade. Something is up though as I’ve shot 1moa ish groups with this rifle and imi 77gr ammo in a previous video so the rifle is for sure capable of better.
Keep these coming. Caught one of your video pushing your 300prc and 338 Lapua, needless to say I've been hooked ever since. Thanks for the videos! you make em I'll watch em.
Awesome! Really appreciate the support! I was actually out filming yesterday so I'm hoping to drop some fresh content in the next couple of weeks plus I've got a ton planned for 2023..... Stay tuned!
Really fantastic shooting for wolf ammo and a red dot! A 3X magnifier and good ammunition makes it easy to get hits at 400 yards. Also, if you have co-witness flip up sights, use the front peep sight and it will help you focus better. Awesome content!
Good shootin man…surprised me…got me a crono today and checked some pistol loads… 135gr 10mm@1550fps…124gr 9mm xtp’s@1385fps….6” trp and 509t….no wonder shit was flyin into the next galaxy over….lmao…I’m to cheap to fire more than 1 at a man so that 1’s gonna count…😂
That’s about what I expected. We’d shoot that far in the Army with iron sights. And hold overs are easier with dots than irons. If somebody would come out with a red dot that had a BDC turret that would be something. A BDC reticle is too crowded at 1x.
@@MountainsMulletsMerica Crunched some numbers in Strelok. That target was more likely 24" or 36"! Love that you didn't call me out hahaha! I was holding one target above which sounds more like the 6' drop that my bullet has at that range. I'm learning! 😅
Really appreciate the support! The growth is happening big time right now and I’m really thankful for that. My plan is to keep delivering solid content so hope you’ll stay tuned and we’ll grow this together!
Great video...i shot my buck in Idaho last season...Tavor7 at 120 yards w/sig romeo5...not the distances you shot...but fully capable even at 60 yoa😂. Beautiful country...looks like area between Pullman and Spokane.
For the barrel length, red dot and caliber, I thought you did pretty damn good. Really an enlightening video. I am setting up an SHTF, Hunting and Home Protection AK KR103. I am leaning towards a 36 yard zero. Great demonstration. My Red Dot Sig Romeo 7s hasn't been as clear as I expected. I am 63 years old and my eyes are the weakest link to longer ranges. I would recommend your 308 video too for those that want to hunt with an AR style weapon. One issue that I recommend is identify why you need the rifle, what will it be used for? I live on the East Coast and use my weapons for deer hunting . Most of my shots are under 100 yards in wooded areas. This zero is perfect for that use. Semper Fi
Killer video, as always. I've gone 500+yds iron sights (Matech. Best iron sights for me) and 300yds red dot on ARs and AKs. The stock iron sights on my Rifle Dynamics AK are excellent and have taken that to over 200yds regularly off hand. I'm looking forward to more 300prc and 338 Lapua videos, your last ones were great.
Oh buddy, stay tuned as I’ve got a lot of Magnum content in the works. I actually just got a 300NM barrel for the mrad and each of these range trips where I’m filming ar content I’ve been working on my load development. Magnum content will be back soon, that’s my favorite type of shooting after all haha. Thanks for watching!
Exactly how I felt when I got done shooting this one! I expected to have very few hits past 300 yds. Certainly shooting in perfect conditions helped out but this at least gives a baseline to what's possible.
Very nice setup. You just prove that red dot is enough for most of weapon users for home defense. I thought red dot only good up to 150 yards. I guess I was wrong. Thanks for doing this test. Do you think 1-6x LPVO or 5x prism is overkill for home defense and shooting under 300 yards?
I've been able to shoot to 500m with my 13.7 equipped with a holosun 503g RDS. That reticle has a BDC that lines up very well with my gun shooting 75-77 grain. Granted I had a magnifier with it, but didn't use it for a few shots just to see. I'd love to see you revisit this with that optic to see if it increases consistency with holds. Good video 👍
You know now I want to snag something like the Holosun or an Eotech with the bdc reticle and try this again. I’m thinking the bdc would greatly increase hit percent, then add a magnifier and I think like you experienced hits out to 500 become very consistent. Maybe not the best tool for the job, but fun to know what’s possible.
@@Minutes-Mils Good to know, I'll check it out. I'm always looking for cool new gear to try, especially if it doesn't break the bank. Appreciate the heads up!
My working gun has a Vortex Spark that I back up with a 3x flip over magnifier. As I get closer to 50 my comfort zone with just the red dot is about 200 after that I flip over the magnifier and have taken shots out to 500 with that setup. I feel in your test you had a compounded problem first it's a 2 MOA dot not a supper precise sight, second is that ammo was about 5 MOA at 100 yards looking at your target. As you got out further you could really see that cone of dispersion come in to play. Nice test and I agree with you on distance for an un aided red dot.
Yep, several variables here that made connecting at 400-500 yds a challenge. While my 100yd group was far from impressive and a 2moa dot isn't that precise, my main challenge at 400-500yds was holding randomly in space instead of on the target. Once I got off the target, I didn't have a consistent aiming point so I found it very difficult to make repeatable shots. All things considered however, I feel confident in a package like this for 200-300 yds max. If you need to shoot beyond that there are better tools for the job. Thanks for watching!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica Yep holding into dead space with a simple dot or aiming point is a challenge for sure! It is a great setup for 0-300, but as you said there are better tools for longer range work. It is still fun to try though and even a bad day shooting is better than a good day in the office.
You exceeded what we’re capable of here, particularly with 55 gr. Your comment; “no wind, so I’ll hold dead on”- is something you NEVER hear around our AO. With IMI m193 (11.5” carbine/2 MOA R. D.) hits to 300 yds are 90%, 77 gr ammo and we’re at 100% most days. 400 and out I’m reaching for a different tool. Good shooting.
Well no wind is extremely rare in this part of the world as well. Really allowed me to push this setup beyond what it’s likely realistically capable of. That said however I’d still feel decently confident out to 300ish yds with some wind but if I need to go beyond that, time to get a different rifle. Thanks for watching!
Dude this channel is so much better than almost every “high production” channel on YT.

That’s my goal! Just out here trying to give a realistic look at the various shooting disciplines! Thanks for watching!

With our help…I’m all in fellers
I’d like to see match ammo with those and the 11.5”
Keep up the good work
Stay tuned, I’ll try to make it happen! Need to get some more 77gr ammo first haha
Well done!
Yep, a red dot on an sbr isn’t ideal for distance shooting but it’s certainly possible. If anything it’s super fun to try haha. Thanks for watching!
Like that you sometimes show the stuff that most of us use regularly. Great stuff man. Thanks.
This is true. What do you think about a 2x or 3x optic?
Your sbr is ideal for a close quarter gun, and it's cool that you can ring steel consistently all the way out to 400! Great video as always!
Not bad at all. You're definitely in tune with what we want to see and questions we want answered. Keep up the good work my man.
Awesome, appreciate the support! Next up I’m hoping to push my acog to distance on my 14.5” block ii upper…. Stay tuned!

Would love to see this test again with an ACOG.
Got to the end of the video, and now I’m pumped for the ACOG test 😆
Haha love it! Hoping to film the bulk of an acog video today if weather cooperates…. Stay tuned!
I utilized an ACOG at 500 with an M4 and did well with that left table one as an expert. That was a 14 inch barrel.
No wind the Palouse?! That’s the most amazing aspect of the video. 😂
Excellent shooting. I was amazed you were still hitting consistently at 400 yards.
Man it was shocking! 2 days where I had essentially zero wind. Perfect for pushing a red dot to distance.
As with anything, the more work you put into practice and training, the more successful your end results will be!
that landscape is equally bizaare and beautiful man.. that looks like an amazing place to shoot.
Great useful content. I always curious as how effective a 1x red dot it. Thanks for the good content.
Great video, and I’m glad you can even see the target at those distances. My old eyes are not good without a scope lol
Yeah that’s a great point…. If you don’t have great eye sight, a magnified optic is going to make your life such much easier haha
Thank you
How, this video was done extremely well. 😊
It's all up to the Operators eye sight.

Yeah don’t know how you don’t have more subscribers! Quality content!
Just a new channel working on finding my place in the RUclips world haha. I’m expecting 2023 to be a huge year though! Thanks for the support!
300 yds is the furthest I’ve shot with a red dot couldn’t go further to see the limit, love your videos.
@@MountainsMulletsMerica was the red d0t 2 MOA?
👍👍 Thanks!
Thanks!
Exceeded my expectations but then again you are a very good shooter. Great videos. Thank you.
Another great video!
Thank you!
What brand of AR-style rifles do you prefer? I love your content, and I hope you keep it up. At one point, you were going to compare 308 to 6.5 Creedmore; I hope you do that. Also, a comparison of all of the PRCs would be fascinating.
This was EXACTLY the information I was looking for today.... thank you! Well done! Great video, great editing!
Great video don’t think my eyes can even reach that without a magnifying great video!

Haha one shot one kill, I love it!
That’s about what I expected. We’d shoot that far in the Army with iron sights. And hold overs are easier with dots than irons. If somebody would come out with a red dot that had a BDC turret that would be something. A BDC reticle is too crowded at 1x.

Semper Fi
Have you found any alternatives for your optic?
Geez, beautiful landscape in the intro man.
Man I've very thankful to be able to shoot in a place this cool. Literally a long range shooting paradise. Thanks for watching!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica Hell Yes! I love my 300NM. I'll be looking out for those.
Very good video , I took notes . Thanks
Well done
Thank you!
You just proved that "it's the indian; not the arrow."
Great video, as always!
For sure the Indian has a lot to do with it but in this one I needed as much luck as I could get haha. Thanks for the continued support!
Better than expected 👌
Exactly how I felt when I got done shooting this one! I expected to have very few hits past 300 yds. Certainly shooting in perfect conditions helped out but this at least gives a baseline to what's possible.
Just wanted to come in and say I love your channel. Happy to see it growing!
Thank you! Really appreciate the support!
Always very interessting topics for the videos - great video 👍👍
Thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Great job brotha. Outstanding video quality.
Excellent video and info.
i really like this channel
Love it! Stayed tuned for lots of exciting new content!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica I know primary arms has clearance sales for their older md-25 with the same ACSS reticle as the 503g.
@@Minutes-Mils Good to know, I'll check it out. I'm always looking for cool new gear to try, especially if it doesn't break the bank. Appreciate the heads up!
@@MountainsMulletsMerica not a problem man, lookin like they have em for 120 right now, and they got a 12% off code Goin on too
@@Minutes-Mils Dang that is a steal!
I'd love to see you revisit this with a 3x magnifier and 6x magnifier.
Awesome video man, thanks!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch and support the channel!
With red dot 🔴 that hitting over 200yard I’m happy with it. Can you make content on how to zero 308 rifle like scar 17s ? Keep on good work
This dude found the location where they took the pic for the windows 10 background. Good job buddy.
Great video. Definitely do an ACOG vid.
For sure! Hoping to get the bulk of it filmed today….. assuming the weather cooperates haha
Great vid
Thank you!
Phenomenal content, really enjoy your videos. Thank You!
