From a fellow LA Cajun that went to the mountains and never came back, Laissez les bons temps rouler...down the mountain super fast! Thanks for the pre race tips. A lot of these are just good for general riding as well. Especially chain maintenance out here east. Sooooo wet and muddy.
Mate, I’d recommend a second hand Hardtail build. I seen you just broke yours but honestly dude, try get your hands on either a Bird, Ragley or Nukeproof HT frame, then build up your parts over time. A good frame, some RS Yari forks, brand-X dropper post, NX eagle and some Shimano Deore/SLX brakes, you’ll be able to build yourself a pretty capable HT with a decent spec if you decide to build it yourself. Keep everything second hand, you might save a bit cash and be able to buy a brand new frame and some other parts. You don’t *need* a full sus, the HT can do everything a full sus does and come in cheaper. Also, less maintenance! Imagine going from having to replace 6/7 different sets of bearings in your frame to 0.
@@TheLoamCourierMTB I love hardtail but they definitely can’t do all the same 😂. Depends on location and riding style mostly, but anything can be built at home better and lighter for sure if the time and research is done
When it comes to frame bearings i spin them up with a socket in a drill and remove the old grease with break cleaner, then when evaporated force in fresh. One set of bearings is an arse for water ingress so when the dust seal is back on use water pump grease to seal below the dust cover, not perfect but def fends off the inevitable for a few more months. After that the bikes ridden into a watery ditch.
New pads, sand rotors properly, degrease with brake-cleaner/alcohol. Install new pads, make sure everything is grease-free, do a proper bedding in of the pads by finding a mellow downhill road, do 20 strong stops from a speed with each brake without ever locking the brake and don't overheat the brake at all.
From my experience, it's really hard to "clean" pads because they are so absorbent. I do the little sandpaper method to freshen them up from time to time. If they're wet or even super dry/dusty then some noises aren't abnormal. If they aren't biting into the rotor then it could be time for a new set but careful not to put fresh pads on a contaminated rotor or that's a wasted set of pads. -Christina
HI. You can burn em up. Works quite well for me. use some spirit or blow torch and burn pads a bit, do same with the rotor, not overheat just burn 5-10 sec. works well. or ultrasound cleaner for pads works like charm.
I like how at 3:16 she's talking about tightening spokes and a loosening of a spoke is shown.
I appreciate your keen eye. -Christina
@@pinkbike Good job with the video, by the way!
Fire that editor now
jajaja I saw the same... But what impress me more are the guns and calf of Christina jaja
Good luck if you're racing Christina! Can't wait for PB's insider commentary and coverage.
Thank you! Can't wait to get back out there.

8:30 why are you carrying a co2 inflator when you have the edc pump? If you unscrew the pump head it can thread on a cartridge
Thank you Cristina for the great tips!!! 💯👌👌
Great!!! cheers Christina ✌
Thanks Andres! -Christina
T-8 Days till Race Rendezvous! Thanks for the tips.
Now all I have to do is find a bike that's not sold out
I wanted a trek but was told I had to wait 200 to 300 days.
@@TruTube.1. that’s what I’m saying. Started with a 05 frame and now it’s close to 150g lighter than the 2021 model of the same bike🤗😂
@@TruTube.1. i would, but I broke my Hardtail

Super helpful!
4:52 what grit sandpaper do you recommend for a quick rub? This is a great video for general maintenance for the trail rider.

Nice ride! I got a 2017 slash with a dvo coil shock on rear.
Where was this filmed? Gorgeous scenery. Thanks for all of the tips.
Thanks! Just an average day in Squamish :-) -Christina
@@pinkbike thank you. I need to see Squamish, be nice to see coming from Ontario.
Could I race an enduro race on a trek marlin that is super upgraded (pretty much everything but the frame)
You can race anything.
Why do you carry a pump AND co2? When would you use one and not the other?
At 1:38 trying to say I use muc off but can't for copyright issues.

About 0.1% of people actually race, the rest of us use bikes for fun, never understood this racing thing everywhere.
when you try it youll know
I’m just saying, but your comment comes of as super arrogant
yes and most drive a race enduro and do not really need it 🤣
People do so much for racing now, I jist show up on 6 hours of sleep and an empty stomach
An enduro orange. 👍🏻

My brakes are super squeaky for some reason. I've tried cleaning bads and the disk, any tips on how to stop it? Or should I just buy new pads?
new pads, if you want them to be quieter you can get resin pads, metallic is more powerful but louder

Why ru keeping the wheel on
Christina, I never see good information about climb distance and elevation on an average enduro race. Make an episode
Super gravity tyres + digital pressure gauge = no more flats
