Yes. Cheap bike challenges are the best and they demonstrate that you don't need a "modern" bike to have rad times. I was pretty sure of which bike would win and am glad that I was right.
That Marin was the mutts nuts back in the day! I had a lower spec model, was a great mile muncher, bit of a squishy sofa rather than racer but I loved it
I love the cheap bike challenges as I fix up dead bikes and love seeing the presenters with real fear on their faces. I have to say that Blake wins twice, because it's not ever youtube channel that can get away with showing an over excited man-child having immense fun playing with his horn all day.
I love it too, me and my brothers used to pick them up from the dump back before it turned corporate and stopped that. Best was a Saracen X ray with marzocchi z2s and one magura HS33 🥹
@@falconlips5474 Nice find! I got a 1999 trek vrx full sus with Judys and magura hs33s for £5. I too miss the old dump policy. So much for reuse / recycle.
This is fantastic for so many reasons 🤩 Above all else, look at how much fun you can have with your mates!... and all for less than what a lot spend on just a dropper 😁
Isaac always got so much more speed, you could see the difference a hardtail makes for sprinting 😆But the downhill looked super rough, wouldn't not want to try this myself, haha Definitely more of this, these challenges always fun to watch
I got my daily for about $100 Canadian...a 13" 2010 Trek 3700...kinda has jump bike looking frame. I stopped spending a ton on bikes when I realized every bike I have ever had was eventually stolen. I am more than happy with this thing. Previously, I had two other $100ish daily rides...a 2012ish Giant and a 2010ish Iron Horse...cant remember specific models, but they were also great...but were eventuallt stolen. I had a 130mm travel dual suspension scratch build stolen and I stopped after that. The forks on that bike were worth more than my last three bikes were. I am disabled and cannot afford to be replacing that kind of thing anymore.
I HAVE THE EXACT SAME B'TWIN! yes i understand there is better out there and the """comfort geometry frame""" does wobble a bit if you don't tighten the bolts for the rear shock, and the front fork (it is a 120mm travel, says it on the website) is not rated for actual downhill, and the stock brakes are crap (but you won't find stock brakes on it used! even I had them swapped after 3rd service with Shimano's at no added cost!) the drivetrain is a 3x9 so it's not exactly a mountain bike, can climb with it but it's sketchy, the chain really likes to skip even though from what I've read, the Altus deraileur is technically clutched, but I've had it for 5 years, and it's been great! I rode it all season, all weather conditions, if you don't plan on tairing it up too hard, it's better than nothing, get one so they keep selling parts for it (please)
I’d like to see you guys do a race with completely restored vintage bikes and do some of the legit old races from back in that era, a reenactment. That would be cool
Well done, you know most people watching can only really afford this sort bike. More like this, less like bikes that cost 5k+... This is your audience guys!
I wonder if the mix matched drivetrain was a trend back then. My cousin picked up an old specialized Enduro with that exact set up. Big coincidence if nothing else
Cool to see Decathlon bike ! Their latest products are less screaming, they are slowly diminishing those cringy stickers about normal technology all over the bikes 😂
Decathlon bikes are absolutely great these days. Really well specced for the price. I loved my btwin road bike, had it for a good few years before it got stolen
I own this exact bike but with different components in India. Nothing wrong with Decathlon products. Only annoying thing is 27.5 instead of 29 on other bike brands
Crackin video Bois really enjoyed that one! The Marin in particular looked a bargain. And the Saracen given it had been serviced. Nowt wrong with old bikes for mountain biking on if they're well looked after!
That Marin was a very good bike for its day. I used to own one just like that (minus the horn!), with XTR all round and Hope 2-pot XC brakes - i bought it off my mate who was actually racing XC for Marin UK at the time. They would get a fresh bike every year, and luckily (for me) my mate was injured for most of the year, so i was able to buy a barely used ex-team bike for almost no money! Good times!
I built an old DMR Trailstar for the nostalgia and was highly limited to decent forks due to a straight steering tube but even my (okayish) 120mm air Suntours cost more than these bikes... will admit it does well for a 20yo frame.
This was vey good, catering to a teenage pocket money budget I recommend one with a higher budget of 500ish which is a very achievable amount for most and 200 for repairs and upgrades Maybe also add an adventure tour to the finale😊
Fun! impressive correct pronunciation of Marin (Mah-rin) I had to look it up myself after I got their bikes. Interesting fact that in Marin country California most MTB trails are private land or not allowed (I probably didn't know where to find the proper trails when I visited)
3:27 Immediately I harked back to the days when myself and my mates would be riding through the forests all day and stopping off at the petrol/gaz station to fill her up with air - remembering to always fully press the lever, or the air would come out! c.1988 to 91! Edit: You just know, Blakes' keeping that horn!
the btwin rockrider 540 hardtail was my first half decent bike in that same colour, put some zee cranks, xt 9 speed gearset and renthal bars and stem and at the time it made for a really decent bike and learnt alot on it! the mrs now uses it on family rides🤣
These videos are great, you can enjoy dirt with any safe mtb. Keep it up team. PS Isaac wearing goggles on climb did need an extra point for commitment😅
One of the rare occasions where my bicycle actually cost more than those of gmbn.
And as such, it deserves a celebration!
Mine still isn't 🤣
alright flash....keep it in your pants 😂
Lol I don't know if my old iron horse could even fetch 150 but still love the heavy bitch
Almost 😂
Blake going absolutely bananas about his horn really makes the video for me 😂
Came here to say that
These are the best type of videos
Yeah they are

Absolutely loved this! You guys are amazing! Thank you for capturing the joy of riding for the fun of it!
I sadly can remember when the Marin Mount Vision was seen as a really high end bike!
This is fantastic for so many reasons 🤩
Above all else, look at how much fun you can have with your mates!... and all for less than what a lot spend on just a dropper 😁
Hell yeah for Blake and the Marin!! I have a Marin Gravel bike and a Marin Enduro bike and I looooove them!
LOL. The "Get what you pay for" challenge featuring Blake riding Honky McHonkface!! Love the video. Started my day with a smile.
Isaac always got so much more speed, you could see the difference a hardtail makes for sprinting 😆But the downhill looked super rough, wouldn't not want to try this myself, haha
Definitely more of this, these challenges always fun to watch
Isaac is also a big XC guy, it's crazy how I think the results would be similar between him and blake on the same bike

Why can't anyone create content that actually applies to majority of riders in realistic $500-$1250 range?
@@derek2gloves nah
Blake is the man! Never a dull moment. 😂
I HAVE THE EXACT SAME B'TWIN!

😂😂😂 This really cracked me up - that horn lol. Great work guys, please do more challenges like this 🙏🙏🙏
I’d like to see you guys do a race with completely restored vintage bikes and do some of the legit old races from back in that era, a reenactment. That would be cool
Get Doddy involved with that one
Rockrider for sure looked the best
New tires, new grips, new bushings / bearing most likely. Didn't look banged up, would be a nice flip bike once given some tlc
More of these!!
Well done, you know most people watching can only really afford this sort bike. More like this, less like bikes that cost 5k+... This is your audience guys!
Both full sussers need some TLC to run well and the dad bike performed flawlessly on the entire run.
Love these type of challenges so funny really entertaining, more please 😀👍
I love it when the Pedals are worth more than the bike. What an epic challenge!!
Priorities 😂
I wonder if the mix matched drivetrain was a trend back then. My cousin picked up an old specialized Enduro with that exact set up. Big coincidence if nothing else
Btwin is clearly the best bike
more challenges please boys ! always a good laugh !

Hello everyone…anyone notice that trail alien at 14:48 jumping for its life from Blake?
I saw !!
The cameraman cursing when he dropped whatever that was, was hilarious 😂
2:42 nice crack :D
I really love your challenges! Give us more of that funny stuff...
Great video!
Crackin video Bois really enjoyed that one! The Marin in particular looked a bargain. And the Saracen given it had been serviced. Nowt wrong with old bikes for mountain biking on if they're well looked after!
More content like this please!!! Nice job
That hardtail paid off on the climbing
And the 3x8(?) drivetrain with a 26" wheel. I'd say that thing could crawl up hills if it didn't want to flip over backwards so much😂
This video was absolutely amazing. Felt like watching mid 2000s top gear with bikes. Holy crap the world needs more of this. 😂
Amazing as per usual!!! Cool soundtrack today.
That was fun! We need more of these bikes!

Yes - combine it with the South Downs Way challenge (recent video) - that would be an adventure!
@@jmo2752 indeed
Even the last bikes need can do well with a few upgrades in my opinion

Love to see these done up and modded 👍
I love this. It’s like top gear but with bikes. ❤😂 wish it was a grand tour 😂
Crazy how bikes evolve. Good work lads
Great video, really useful info. Thanks
climbing part looked funny with the colically short handlebars 😅 mountain biking has come a long way
Isaac is basically on a gravel bike 😂
I'd call it a regular trekking bike...
Yes, more challenges, love them!
Blake is gold, man. He's clearly had coffee.
Love the Top Gear style points math 😂 and Blake’s horn

Love cheap bike challanges!
i love these btwin bikes. thing i hate though is the quick release
Nice!, this kinda stuff is what i stay subscribed for. 👍
More of this!
More of these Top Gear type challenges
Ofc more challenges, what about best trick challenge? Yes Blake, im your fan and you are my fun.
Definitely more . Brilliant stuff
These challenges are my favourite thing on the channel
I would love to see a horn like that in the GMBN merch shop! 🎉🎉
seriosuly this blakes makes the show more enjoyable. haha, so much fun I spilled my Coffe on my keyboard.
Isaac's bike has very similar geometry to my dad's bike. It feels like sitting atop a horse.
Alright then. Time for the cheap bike Mega Avalanche challenge.... 😂
I love these videos of you guys just faffing about, I live vicariously through you, since I have no friends.
Only Blake could build a van, a bike and be an entire enduro spectator crowd😂
Love Ritch bike! As an owner of Rockrider 2018 AM 100S model I approve. :D
These are my favorite types of videos.
TG-styled challenges are amazing!
the btwin rockrider 540 hardtail was my first half decent bike in that same colour, put some zee cranks, xt 9 speed gearset and renthal bars and stem and at the time it made for a really decent bike and learnt alot on it! the mrs now uses it on family rides🤣
I used to do voluntary work at the derby bike shop years ago and it is a good place and freundly staff.
Thats one amazing ride on a retro hardtail by Isaac!
These videos are great, you can enjoy dirt with any safe mtb. Keep it up team. PS Isaac wearing goggles on climb did need an extra point for commitment😅
Top team! great job from the boys!
Your helmet is more expensive then those bikes 😂
Blake and that horn had me in tears 😂😂
i bought a bike from life cycle when covid lockowns first started great what they do 🙏🙏
Love these! Do more challenges!
💯💯💯😎THAT WAS FUNNNNN!! More Please! 😎💯💯💯
I thought a saw Yeti on 19:03. And I'm not talking about the bike brand 😅
Blake the horn guy is my spirit animal
Dang it Blake! Lol 😂 that dern horn
You gents should do a video with the Giordano Valor. Or something similar. Around $350 US, with a SunTour XCM fork 🤷🏽
The horn was so good hahaha sounded like a downhill event hahahaha
Cheap bike park challenge would be very fun to watch
I was rooting for Isacc on the lovely Saracen!
This type of vid is always the best. It’s maybe a dumb question but where did you guys film this as would love to go ride there
Probably the Forest of Dean.
Top tier fun. Blake is hilarious 🤣 😂.
Yes, more challenges!
💥💥💥💯That was FUNNNN! More Please! 💯💥💥💥
this proves 26ers are still climbing machines. and why ill never run 29s bought a 27.5 and put some 26s on it.
that saracen.... balls of steel!
Good old Blake can’t help tooting his own horn 😂
Forget everything else, that horn wins it all.
I love this challenge!
Love it. Proper laugh out loud stuff that.
I had the same style Marin right up till about 2021 😂😂😂, that bike had already had 4 past hard lives before i got it.
Cheap bike challenges are great :)
Look these types of vids. U guys should come to aus next enduro World Cup
I've been Throwing everything at my Norco Stom 1 when I'm out riding. An it aint the most expensive mountain bike out there. But I like it.😊
Bring back death grip on the cheap bikes 😬
Love the content as always
