    Matt Farah should be a character in GTA6. He steals your car keys in the beginning of the mission and you have to chase him up a mountain in the million mile Lexus he left behind.

    Good choice on the dual pass radiator and square 295 setup. Those two things make huge improvement for driving hard, I also had a 50-row oil cooler for 30 minute sessions 195F/195F @ 100F ambient. Dual pass is much more efficient especially on the road course. Square setup, once you get up to 295's, make a HUGE difference, I was running 18X11 315's on my last setup, which finally eliminates understeer(gained about 3-5 seconds from 275's). Last thing I loved was my steering quickner, but your rack looks perfect for a street car. Wrapped the headers with DEI Titainium heat wrap, which eliminated a lot of heat in the engine bay and next to the plug wires. Congrats!

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 лет назад +1

      +Meghani Motorsports I just ordered that DEI titanium shit along with ACCEL ceramic spark plug wires. Hopefully that fixes my plug wire boot melting problem.

    • @sittinheavy1
      @sittinheavy1 8 лет назад

      +TheSmokingTire Definitely should. I use the exhaust heat wrap on every manifold and you can pretty much touch the header after WOT. With modified headers they were super close to all wiring, never melted OEM plug wires or had any issues (30 minute sessions). DEI also makes Fire sleeves for wires, hose etc, if you have something super close and want redundancy. The exhaust heat wrap should be more than sufficient by itself!

    • @johnypiston

      +Meghani Motorsports Just subscribed to your channel based on your solid record of input on this channel. Your suspensions tips are especially appreciated.

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 лет назад +5

      +Meghani Motorsports Glad to hear it. I have the fire sleeves on my current MSD wires, and even though the sleeve itself wasn't scorched, the boot melted inside the sleeve! That's why I need the ceramic plug wires and heat wrap. I can't keep dealing with that shit.

    • @sittinheavy1
      @sittinheavy1 8 лет назад

      +TheSmokingTire Gotcha, the heat sleeve is more of a preventative of the wire actually touching something hot. It doesn't have a reflective radiant barrier that would deflect the heat away from the wire(gold foil). The turbo manifolds I use the heat wrap on, glow red under WOT, and like I said you can damn near touch them after being wrapped. The ceramic coating alone didn't seem to make much difference IMO, other than corrosion resistance.

      @BlueHokage 8 лет назад

      +sjpro1 Ok, let me retract my statement slightly. Yes I know the new gt350r and gt350 are massively cabably canyon carvers. I guess I was mostly referring to solid axel mustangs. I recall seeing a built late 60s mustang on Drive Network, that had a completely overworked IRS, which was also massively capable. You just dont see too many of them out there, because too many people use the platform for straightline performance purposes.

      +TheSmokingTire You've had shops building your car for 18-months and all of a sudden you're worried about cost? How much do you have into this thing? Use your connections and see if Ford will strike you a deal and sell your current motor for a couple grand.

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 лет назад +24

      +moaski of course I'm worried about cost. Cost is everything. Cost is the reason my car isn't like a SEMA ready show car. I got very lucky in that this car came with a crate engine already in it, with less than 500 miles on it. There was no reason to spend the extra money or the extra time doing an engine swap.

    • @moaski
      @moaski 8 лет назад +3

      +TheSmokingTire You'd gain a reliable 50hp, probably another 50+ torque, with a warrantee and no added weight. It wouldn't be a Sema car, but it would be borrowing from the best of another generation of Mustang.

      +monkeypainter808 secret? He showed us when he got the car, it was in good condition. It had a pretty much new engine. He then posted updates. He knew he wanted IRS, and other stuff. It was built from the ground up, a lot of time invested into it.

      Best I recall the explorers had a gt40 intake and heads. Back in the day is was a budget upgrade to swap out the top end from an explorer for a little more kick.

    • @HaNg_ALL_ThE_tRaItOrS_hiGh
      @HaNg_ALL_ThE_tRaItOrS_hiGh 5 лет назад

      Explorers came with the GT40p heads+ upper and lower intakes. Flowed better than any other stock 302 setup from the factory so everyone wants them as they are a cheap uprgrade. However, when you build a car like this you need better heads and not an alphabet cam.

    procharge it

    • @aperson4933
      @aperson4933 7 лет назад +3

      Procharger is a brand, not a type of forced induction so don't say 'Procharge it.' The correct term is Centrifugal Supercharger. Also with a Centrifugal Supercharger its just a hassle because you then have to take the engine out of the car and built it with forged or billet internals so it can handle more forced air.

      @umadbrah8267 6 лет назад

      Haha wow what a stupid comment. This motor comes forged from the factory. Plus even if it didn’t you don’t need to remove the motor. And “procharging” IS the accepted term for putting a cs on a car. At least with car enthusiasts

    I'm not a big Mustang fan but, I've always had a spot in my heart for
    those notchbacks. When done right they look really good. This thing is
    done so well, especially with the rear suspension. It's an evil looking ride and
    I wouldn't mind having one.

    A 5 liter v8 that produces 350 hp... Why the hell do americans love big gasoline guzzlers with compared to the engine size, "no power"? And on a relatively light vehicle, this just doesn't make any sense to me...

      I think that a smaller block with way less cubic inches fine tuned would be more appropriate for a light vehicle, wouldn't it also cut the gas costs? I live in europe so thinking about running a V8 that size would be suicide.

    I am not a big fan of Fords and Mustangs, however... This is a well built car, and I have to give you props. I love the fact that it started out as a Highway Patrol car, and the fact that you built it as a handling car, not a drag car. I can imagine it is a lot of fun to drive. You now have built one of the few Mustangs I have respect for, and actually would own myself if given the chance.

    We have two ghetto fox body racecars in my family. Both 5-spd 302s. We got a black 88 like this, and a white 90 with GT40 heads like this one. The sounds of this thing remind me of that piece of ours. So fun. 11,000 race miles and that engine will not die. absolutely bulletproof and a hoot to drive.

    Nice build. Like you said it doesn't take big horse power to have fun. Anyone who has ever driven competitively will tell you, if you can't put it to the ground your just wasting your time. Having a car with the right balance of power and handling will always win out. I can tell by the grin on your face the car is right. Enjoyed the video.
