I've watched a number of videos on Md crabcakes. This gal is so clear in directions. So if I'm trying her recipe for my dinner for 3 girlfriends. Givi ng them a taste of my home state edible delights.
I have tried so many different ways to find the perfect recipe on RUclips and this is by far the best and easiest way to make them. Thank you for not adding so many fillers and not adding sugar . I will never flatten my crab cakes again ! Thank you Sugar Plum Run.
Same! I grew up in Maryland. Crab cakes should have the bare minimum of filler. There should be just enough to hold the cakes together. Jumbo is the thing! Love what you did here.
@@SugarSpunRun, I’m born and raised in Annapolis and my mom is from Centreville MD. She would poopoo the mayo but not me! This is the best Maryland Crab Cake recipe that I’ve seen anyone post, EVER!
Those are far and away the best looking crab cakes I’ve ever seen in a cooking video. I’ll definitely make these next time I have folks over. Love your channel 👍🏻❤
Thinking about a seafood feast for Christmas this year for our family gathering. Menu will consist of my seafood gumbo, fried shrimp, jambalaya balls, crab cakes, hush puppies and French fries. I will be using your crab cake recipe since I have never made these before. Thank you for the authentic recipe!
Thank you for sharing this recipe! I just made out them together, I’m currently waiting for them to chill in the refrigerator. I’ll let you know how they turn out
@@SugarSpunRun Thank you so much! The crab cakes turned out just like you said. My wife and my 11 year old daughter and her friend enjoyed them very much.
Lol I have the same issue with plastic wrap too so I switched to press and seal. It also clings to the dish better for me. Much easier to work with. Your recipe looks delicious 😋
Crab cakes looks amazing “The real deal” 😋mmm Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe with us all!! I’m keeping you and her (the baby) in my prayers❤
From St. Mary's county. That's how everybody down here. Pretty much makes their crab cakes. The only thing I see different is everybody I know adds a little bit of onion but most of the time it's cut really small. You can't even tell it's in there. And some of the older people actually save. Save the crab mustard from inside The crab and add a little. And we brush them off a little bit of butter before baking or broiling.
Have you ever picked your own meat from fresh crabs? If so, does it taste better than the stuff in the refrigerated plastic containers from the grocery store? On the other end of the spectrum, what do you think about domestically sourced jumbo lump / lump crab meat in cans? I know that some restaurants along the Texas gulf coast use it because I’ve seen it for sale at Restaurant Depot. Finally, I highly recommend that you get a roll of commercial food service plastic wrap from your local restaurant supply store. It’s less expensive in the long run, it tears off easier, I’ve never wasted any of it because it stuck to itself and it’s wider, so you wouldn’t have to use two pieces like you did here. Amazing video. I’m definitely making crab cakes soon. Thanks!!!
Typically if I go through the trouble of picking a crab I want to be eating it and it's completely coated in seasoning so for crabcakes I normally buy it already picked. We typically have access to fresh picked crab meat where I live so I've never actually had the stuff in cans. My husband used to work in a seafood department and he says they sold tons of the canned crab meat so it must be pretty decent. Unfortunately for me the closest restaurant supply store that I can visit is pretty far away. We do normally get there about once a year but we missed our trip this year. I hope you love the crab cakes! :)
Would you be willing to provide a list of bakeware that you recommend to have in your kitchen? I am getting back into baking and need revamp my supply. Thank you! Looking forward to baking through your recipes 😀 😋
Yes, you can, but I use all the same ingredients in my salmon cakes as this recipe, except I love onion in salmon cakes. The secret is Mayo in either cake and I only use Duke. 😂😂😂
Seriously how does anyone get Sara wrap to stick, please help me,I’ve tried the refrigerator no go,give me a way…help, I can tell she’s a Maryland girl cause so I’m I,looks 🤩
I do tell you what I'm adding as I add the ingredients, but the recipe is also written out in the comments and a link to my blog post as well. :) sugarspunrun.com/Maryland-crab-cake-recipe/

No such thing as too much crab meat in a crab cake. :)

Crab Cake lover from
Baltimore. When my
Mom made these she to used very little spices and no bread crumbs at all. They were always the best. ♥️

@@SugarSpunRun Thank you! 😁
I miss the East Coast! Haven't been in 20 years! 😢😢😢
Mines resting in the frig. Thanks for the recipe. 🤪
I hope you love it! :)
For seasonings try J.O. The crab houses use J.O. for steaming in MD .
J.O. Is another great option!
You use JO #2 for steaming because it has flake salt. JO #1 is more like Old Bay and is used for cooking.
Have you ever tried the plastic wrap in the freezer thing? It helps me from fighting the plastic demon every time in have to wrap something.
Do they taste like pappas crab cakes? Moist in the inside?
Love this! Had no idea you were American? For some reason I thought you were Canadian haha
Do you suggest using old BAY Classic Crab Cake Seasoning Mix pack instead of panko??
I’m not familiar with it so I can’t say for sure, I didn’t know they made a mix pack.
Mine are also resting in the fridge for a late night feast 😂
I hope you love them! :)
Does anyone have a thought on whether salmon from a can can be substituted for the crab?
Hmmm I haven't ever had salmon out of a can but if the consistency is similar to crab meat, I suppose it could work. :)
Yes, you can, but I use all the same ingredients in my salmon cakes as this recipe, except I love onion in salmon cakes. The secret is Mayo in either cake and I only use Duke. 😂😂😂
In Maryland we pan fry in oil! Other than almost spot on. 😊
Not my area of Maryland. Broiled only! Boxhill Pizzeria was my favorite

She says she is a Native of Maryland at 8:15.
