It's funny. I go fish for 30 minutes almost every day on my lunch break. Last week, all I had was an offset worm hook and some trick worms. I pitched it by the always of the dock. It was on straight braid because my leader had broken off the spinning rod I keep in the bed of the truck. Caught two bass on back to back casts. I guess there's always exceptions to everything.
I've crushed fish on a bubblegum trick worm in the spring, summer and fall as long as the conditions were right. My PB smallmouth came in the middle of summer on a yellow floating worm. It's just an alternative to a fluke. Some days they want that fluke style bait over the worm and vice versa.
I know everyone will have their own experience but I'll disagree on this one. This is one of my summer go-to's especially early in the AM and especially in late evening when bass are schooled up busting shad on top.
I A-rig right now and have been doing great on it first light and at nite, also a floating worm on a shaky heads is bad medicine for bass. I know he might be referring to traditional use but cone on man think outside the box A-Rig at night you feeling this
I caught a nice largemouth on my Southern California HOA lake last week (late July 2024) on a weightless worm using my spinning rod. I just wiggled it in the water for a while and got the bite. Water temps of course are high…. Mileage may vary….
Hey Randy, I wish I had a few outings in my memory where I had a chance to get tired of catching them lol. I measure a good day by how roughed up my thumb is from holding the lower lip to remove hooks. Thanks as always for the tips.
Free rig a wacky rigged one. Cast it out, let it float up from the bottom. Caught my PB smallie last summer doing that. You can suspend a wacky worm in the middle of the column, it's great.
I have caught pretty good sized bass on a jig worm set up. 1/4 oz. jig head on a Berkeley power worm, working weed edges. It's a setup I saw Al Lindner use on his show.
Your in Missouri, up here in Michigan the big rubber worms, and mega 12 plus ➕️ inch worms hit big bass at Dusk!!!!! Seen it in rivers, bank fishing, lakes at mouth of channel and along banks with nice drop offs.6 to 9 pounders, up here in the frozen tundra 😮
Randy….. I’m headed to Lake Erie next week. What lures do you recommend I take? I’m taking a 7’2” mh baitcaster and a 7’0” med spinning rod. Both are travel rods. Appreciate any suggestions you might have.
Ive maybe caught more fish than anything else in aug sept fishing lures that style. I use a barkley flat nose minnow in open water shad patterns around scholling fish or their D worm and fish it weightless around bluegill beds heavy cover weeds. Im using natural colors not the neon and smaller sizes.
No such thing as '' a lure that never works ''. Lures are really just tools to check speed and depth control along with the '' strike zone ''...and they all work at one time or another. Thanks for the b.s. -- randy.
Try a Zoom trick worm on a Buckeye spot remover with the screw keeper. I have such a good hook up ratio on it. Its not the floating technique of course but it's a great way to fish it imo.
@@clay7514 In my river I haven't had much luck on jigs except a swim jig with a rage menace trailer rigged vertically like a bluegill imitation. Maybe I don't fish them enough or have the right trailer on them. I usually use a t- rigged crayfish like a speed craw instead when fishing bottom. I have 4 rods set up so I also always have a 1/8th spot shakey head with a trick or finesse worm rigged up also most of the time.
I wish you'd just go fish and stop with these silly click-bait videos. I caught four on that exact worm three days ago in 95 degree weather, sweating my butt off. Stop Randy. Just go fishing. Stop yelling at clouds and clickbaiting people for money.
Here's a hot tip... If you don't care for Randy's content and want to be a bully, go somewhere else because he really doesn't give a flip about all you bullies and hecklers and his true fans really don't want you here doing that either.
This is another of Randy's opinions. Floating worms work well on schooling bass. Can be fished like a fluke or top water.
Opinions presented as facts! Classic Randy move.

I don't know bout no floatin worm, but if you texas rig a dark trickworm on a 1/8-1/4 slipsinker- most places: Im gettin bit in august.
Caught 14 today on the floating worm, thankfully it's not August yet. 🙂

Up in river sections of lakes under shade trees.

"never" and "always" are words that don't apply to fishing of any kind....
Yeah but they certainly apply to brainless clickbait titles, which Randy is the King of.
I’m fishing a Zoom Trick worm now-shade and marinas

Go with a diving rattle bait. Ice blue top back. with silverside. And a red bottom. 🐟
Floating worm works good on a Carolina rig.
I’ve caught thousands on floating worm on shakey head in August. It’s about all I use on shakey heads and alter the length as needed.

I’ve never fished one, a floating worm. Might try this fall.
Floating worms on a leader ! Light weight or just a barrel swivel * killer
Had one real good day on trick worms in April. Lotta times I just lose so many on it. Draws small fish strikes alot too

Not a single lake in New Mexico, I nominate Cochiti or Bluewater.
