In 1985 a devastating natural disaster decimated a small farming town called Armero when a local volcano erupted. The disaster literally erased the town from existence and its 24,000 inhabitants.
In the aftermath of the volcanic disaster a small girl was found trapped amongst the rubble. This is the story of Omaira Sanchez and her desperate struggle for survival.

Honest truth I did actually play raid while making this video as a way to give my brain a break from what was a very sad and horrifying story. It's an odd use of a game like this but it did actually work.
Micro transactions and gbling esque mechanics are becoming so common in games now (looking at you EA) that I don't think it's fair to just pick on mobile games now, though I do agree the wrong type of person playing these games usually ends in big problems

And how my soul broke just a bit knowing she was trapped for so long. But I think its IMPORTANT to aknowledge that she did not just die. She was murdered by every official who decided to ignore the warnings. their actions caused her suffering. we should honour her for her strength. mourn her. but never. forget.

This was also why the M19 was fighting against the unjust government. at 18:06 This information is incorrect. Pablo Escobar DID NOT finance the guerrilla M19 nor was motivated to aid narcotrafic. The Point of this guerrilla was to perform a theatrical judgment day for the congress and president on their lack of diligence in attending to all the constitutional rights of the citizens which have been systematically ignored for hundreds of years but especially during the last century. SO IT was an unfortunate coincidence. The alternative hypothesis that Escobar financed the M19 is not proven and is unlikely.

I have no reason to ever feel bad about minuscule things again. This girl is on the brink of death and she was not full of self pity. Instead she was saying how she needs to live and how she’ll like a picture when she gets out. Cracking jokes and worrying about others. Speaking to her family. Being polite and addressed the interviewer as “sir” and asking for permission to share some words.
We can learn a lot about this little angel.
    Rest In Peace.

Children tend to believe (especially when in the midst of adults......those that are older than them) that they will be helped and rescued). So her attitude would be positive once seeing them present. As I guess this is why she became happy after her screams for help was heard. The reality of this not being the case is what set in as days past. Which is why she said she was going to the lord. Even adults (depending on who they are at the core) will experience glee and a level of happiness, the minute they see help or they're aware that someone is present to *help them. To compare her disposition to what someone else should or should not do once they find themselves in dire need or whatever situation is..........interesting.

The last couple weeks of my dad's life he was in and out of consciousness. He would sometimes awake and call for his mom for a glass of water or something, like she was in the next room. Toward the end, when he was very weak, he told me "I've been there...a few times. It's like I can't...tune it in... and I end up back here." I tried to be non chalant as I told him "Oh, you'll get it sorted out when the time comes... but next time- will you tell everybody I said "hi." He said "ok" and fell back asleep.
It sounds crazy, but I feel like I totally get it, like there's no doubt in my mind, my dad and my loved ones will be there waiting for me. I don't fear death at all. I'm 45 and I have an autoimmune disease so Im not gonna see old age, but Im ok with that. I feel bad because my daughters are in their 20s and losing me will be difficult for them, but just like they cried like they'd never see me again before preschool, they didn't get it- they'd be with me again before too long. I feel like it's a bigger version of that. I can't explain it very well, but they're waiting for us when we leave here- I just KNOW it with all my heart. And the ones we leave behind, we'll be there to receive them. It really does all work out in the end.

It wasn’t just water, there was concrete, debris and her *dead aunts body* (I read that somewhere but I’m coming back to edit my comment in case it was misinformation) keeping her underground, along with the fact it was only volunteers and reporters who were there, not emergency services or the army. Of course I also feel like more could have been done, but it’s simply a reflection of the time they lived in where amputation in that situation would have probably killed her

Interestingly the wikipedia page for this story only says evacuation was opposed by 'special economic interests' without detailing what that means. Took a while to find out it was big business spreading the information that the geologists were wrong.
