It's no measure of sanity to be well adjusted to a sick society! I can't help but think that we still view bipolar and related conditions as the problem rather than the symptom of the way we live. Thank you for your advice Amy. Really nice thank you guys.

What is Amy a doctor of exactly? Please could you be more specific when choosing to use that appellation as I do tend to think of it in relation to medical doctor and can be misleading.I'm presuming it is an academic doctor of some kind ? but please could you not use that prefix without stating what sort of doctor as I think it can be misleading and give the wrong impression.
Also all these mentions of ways and mean of being alongside people..it would be nice to have mentioned such things as Open dialogue approach and also Hearing Voices network which has been working in this way for many many years now and has been offering an alternative to the biomedical model for some time not withstanding the need for drugs at some points. Also Joanna Moncrieff the Myth of the Chemical Cure, a psychiatrist who talks in detail with how these meds actually work and what they can really do if given diligently and with discrimination.
