      You need to make a "What's the Password" Slot in the man door. Other than that it's an awesome door.

    I came for the barn doors, and stayed for the latch system :) I love watching you engineer mechanisms like that latch and lock. And that last scene of you opening it up and the bright light shining in, is what I think it will feel like when you first arrive to the DiResta workshop! Nice work Brother!! 👍🏼

    I know people talk up lithium grease but I've used copper paste for years in the worst environments (like on brake pads) and the stuff never fails. Years of sleet and snow, hot and cold and parts come apart like they were put on yesterday. Plus I love the color. Mmmm copper.

    Yet another awesome video on the construction of the maker temple. However, as long as it's been without siding, I'm thinking you should have installed the zip boards on their side. You could have just used a clearcoat sealer, and claimed they were giant-sized, earth-friendly, (read: green) bricks 😁.
    Thanks for sharing the process with us Jimmy!

    Hey Jimmy I am endlessly impressed at your ability to get old stuff to look just right where you put it. In my minds eye I had thought you'd plane, sand and finish those boards but once everything was done I could see why you did what you did. It looks at home.

  • @GetMeThere1
    @GetMeThere1 5 лет назад

    Ah well...I love these doors and those mechanisms. It has to be said, though: The sliding door is an easier, cheaper, and more robust choice structurally. Sliding doors have been working like gangbusters on barns for well over a HUNDRED YEARS (in fact I have a couple that are that old and working great). Futhermore, sliding doors are not nearly as susceptible to hindrance from a couple of feet of snow, as these will be. A sliding big door containing a human door (as you did here) would be ideal.
    All of which doesn't change the fact that I LOVED watching this video!!! Nice job!

    I love the barn doors, they look great. The only problem I see with them is if you have a strong wind blowing towards the doors during a rainstorm Waters going to come in. You might want to think about making lap joints or possibly TNG to make it a little more watertight.
