Get what you can afford and keep it moving. Don’t get caught up in the rode hype… I had both and they are good but there are other options you can use that would do the same thing that may be a little cheaper in your price range…9 times out of 10 you’re not going to use all of the functions anyway. Make sure you’re going to utilize what you need and go from there
What other devices would you recommend?
Thank you
Dude mention the other things then
SO WELL DONE!! We don't take time to like videos but this one, well we just had too! Fluid delivery, great information, nice pacing and visually covered it all.
The RodeCaster 2 certainly adds some nice quality of life features, but to be honest I dont think it's enough to justify upgrading from the RodeCaster 1. My RodeCaster 1 still offers me more features than I am currently using so it's going to be more than enough for me for some time.
Hi,
What a great watch! I have been hearing a lot of amazing things about Rodecaster Pro and some of my friends are thinking about upgrading to it. I am sure this video will be a great help for all of them. Thanks a lot for sharing your honest reviews, it really helps us, viewers, a lot, and I trust your judgment. I found this extremely helpful, and I think people will be able to base their decision on it.
Such a wonderful video!!! Very helpful for everyone! As a audio engineer for the last 10 year I like all of the new features of the Mark II.
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve been looking for this exact type of video for over a week and haven’t found anything that had what I needed. Thank you. Subscribed.
Woohoo! Sorry it didn’t come out sooner hah!
Glad you found this helpful! Do you already have the RCP1?
Loved it ! 😊
because of your review we bought this for our podcast setup! THANK YOU. (we talked about your video in our latest episode.)
That is awesome! Glad we could assist with your buying decision! Thanks for watching and for the mention! Got a link?
I watched the video until the end. Good video!
This video was SOOOOOOO helpful, thanks
I'm so glad this was helpful for you! 🎉 Hope that maybe you'll be able to stop by and say hey during one of our live streams someday! (Friday at 10:00am PT) 🙂
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
I have had multiple compatibility issues with my Rodecaster Pro 2 and have decided to look for new options (not an easy task). Based on your experience, if you had to choose a console that is not from the RØDE brand, which one would you choose? Thank you!
Great Video!
Glad you liked it! 👍
Besides the price, has anyone switching from the Zoom Podtak P4 for the RCPII? Major difference?
Job well done. All I needed to know without wasting my precious time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Glad you found this helpful!
Greta review!! Thanks!! I especially liked when you demonstrated using the voice changer😂
Glad you liked it!
I'm a bit upset that Rode removed the premium features like the locking mic clips and power cord connector.
Q:, Can you connect both RCP's on bluetooth?
Love this Review ... And the Video Clarity is VERY much so appreciated , A lot of work goes into these - TRUST , I KNOW!
Hi! Is there difference of audio quality between the 2 models? Can i control only the Spotify volume with a fader on Rodecaster Pro I?
:/
Here are some of the differences:
Microphone Inputs - Both units have 4 microphone inputs, but the newer model has combo XLR/TRS jacks.
No TRRS mini jack in the RCP2.
Better Preamps in RCP2.
RCP2 is smaller.
By removing 2 faders, the RODECaster Pro 2 is a couple inches smaller than the original model. This was mainly accomplished by removing some physical faders, with the new version having 6 instead of 8. The unit does have 3 virtual faders as well.
RCP2 SMART Pads can triggering sounds, but can also activate voice effects, send midi commands, automate levels, and more.
Improved Voice Processing in the RCP2.
Hope that helps!
Which mic setup are you using for this video? It sounds very well balanced. Is the mic on an overhead boom? Are you using the Rodecaster Pro 2? I figure probably not unless you have a couple of them laying around.
You can check out our recommendations here: livestreamingpros.com/setup/
And here: livestreamingpros.com/gear
Thanks. And if i would be my first Rodecaster - i have the cash. Should i then go with the new one?
Yes, that will help future proof! 👍
Hi! Does the psu of the rodecaster pro 1 work on the rodecaster pro 2?
Probably not, but you can check with Rode to make sure: rode.com/en-us/support/contact
On the original Rodecaster Pro how did you play music while livestreaming? That Minus Mix always keeps my audience from being able to hear the music I play from my computer!
If you're stuggling with that, you can also bring the music into your streaming tool from your computer - you don't have to run it thru the RCP.
Greetings, I have problems with my Rode Caster Pro
#1-There is a conflict with Adobe Audition in your sound hardware. Adobe doesn't work
#2 When I play the music from the computer and increase the volume I have an echo in the playback.
Could you guide me what should I do?
Thank you
You can contact the Rode support team here: rode.com/en/support/contact
It may be a stupid question but I am using the Rodecaster to connect a mic that goes straight to Zoom or OBS etc ... but I also want to use it as an audio device for my DAW (Cubase) so I can demonstrate my audio stuff from within the DAW into Zoom. Problem is, as soon as the DAW is open and active, I can't hear Spotify to run music in the background (if I am streaming without showing stuff inside the DAW). As soon as I open Cubase it stops audio for every other device in the back, so it always seems to block stuff from either Cubase or Desktop audio. Anyone knows how to fix that?
You're only going to be able to use an audio source for one purpose at a time.
@LiveStreamingPros Thanks, I find it weird that in 2023 we can do all sorts of things with visuals and AI, but when it comes to audio, everything feels a bit medieval 😅
My strong impression is that the new roadcaster is not as good sounding as the old one. It might be a beginner's thing, but for one; the gate does not fully close. It works great, but there is still a little room sound left. But the most striking thing is that my mic-I got a special tube mic-is not sounding as thick and warm as it does with the old version. I tried to tweak it with the effects, but it just does not work as effectively as the one. The delay and reverb are very cheap sounding. So, that might be my reference for being so critical. There are a ton of great new features, but for me, the sound is the most important thing.
The updates have fixed a lot issues, but yes, if you already have the RCP1 and like it, there's no need to upgrade!
what do i do? i’m trying to record off my rodecaster pro 2, and when i hit the “rec” it doesn’t begin to record the button is still blue
Return it.
Very good breakdown of the differences. One additional thing to take in consideration is the impact the firmware has on each model....which ultimately dictates advanced functionalities.....
Yup! That's mentioned as the last point! ruclips.net/video/W76C_68CXfE/видео.html
Dude u can't not finish the video and say he didn't mention it when he did lol.
Wonderful
not for me this time...I am happy with RCP 1...the new one is cool though
I wish I could route audio to all of the faders like the goxlr. Like game audio music etc
Your best bet for making feature requests is to contact Rode directly: rode.com/en-us/support/contact
Do you did a cloud lifter with the original rodecaster?
You can use that if you want, but most people don't find it necessary.
I bought roadcaster pro 2, which is cool really, but I only have 1 mic turned on from time to time. Which means, I spent too much money for a single mic input :D. But yeah, it's still a great tool. You can run a broadcasting station with this thing. And really cheap.
Thanks for sharing!
What is the maximum of rode caster pro 2 sd card store G?
Many thanks
That will depend on the microSD card or USB storage (such as an external drive) that you use with it. 👍
Woah for the extra price tag,I wish it came with two more mic inputs. Also, I'm upset that they removed the 3.5 Jack in the front. I produce shows for a living and I'm recording multiplayer people and now with the RCP2 I have to use one of my guests headphone jacks. Also, the 3.5 in the back is missing too. This to me doesn't seem like it's worth the investment if you already have the RCP1.
Should I upgrade from my goxlr to the rodecaster pro ii .... 🤔
Only if there's something on the RCP2 that you really, really need that the GoXLR can't do for you. Otherwise, stick with what's working for you!👍
@@LiveStreamingPros my GoXLR is having all sorts of issues. keeps disconnecting, and lights are burnt out. was just wondering if I go with another goxlr, or move on.
Try the Rodecaster Pro II and give it a whirl! We have a free Masterclass series that will show you how to use it too! ruclips.net/p/PLMwzFVPy_Z9uKbQ7Ymu05grq-g4OdaPhm
My needs are pretty simple and my Motu M2 does everything I need EXCEPT compression, I can get quite loud and need a compressor and don't want a dbx 286 So that's my interest in the Rodecaster. The original is in sale everywhere. Is the 2 worth the difference based on my use case - daily zoom calls?
No, you wouldn't need the RCP2, but if that's all you need, then even the RCP1 may be overkill. You could resolve your issue by changing your mic position, or with something like the Scarlett Vocaster (amzn.to/3irFudS) and save some $!
@@LiveStreamingPros thanks! I'll check out the vocaster and decide. Dollars arent an issue but space is!
Well done video, the presentation was excellent.
Sliders sound better
Yea sliders are used all the time in case u don't know that by professionals all the time, so 🤷.
@@WhiteBoyNick1hmm, maybe common elsewhere in the world or with the DJ community? I’ve been working over 20 years in music and audio production and studio work including post production, and that’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone refer to a fader as a “slider” (except for a crossfader). I’ve learned something new I guess… (I’ve edited my original comment). It was an excellent presentation.
U r great
Thanks so much, glad we could help!
"Rodecaster released Rodecaster Pro II" Mmmmm how did I catch that? 😀🤔
Yes, Big Bottom is Aurally Exciting ;-)
🤣
Normaly i would not buy it, because my Rodecaster 1 has more features than i will need, but there are 3 things which make me think about. First is, that my first chanel is defect. And the second is the possibility to connect 2 chanels to a stereo set (because i have 2 Neumann BCM 705) and the third thing is, the more powerful amp, specialy for dynamic mics, like the Neumann BCM 705 this is very nice. Now i´m using a cloudlifter and it works when i bring the faders a bit more up.
So i´m thinking about it, but i´m shure i´m not thinking a long time. Next week the Rodecaster 2 either is standing here on my desk, or the idea to buy it has been trashed.
Always good to consider gear purchases carefully!
missing 3.5 jack makes the upgrade useless :(
You can check out the details here: rode.com/en-us/user-guides/rodecaster-pro-ii
The preamp is bs. You're just repeating the Rode narrative. If you use a sm7b with RCP 2 it introduced noise in all 6 channels not just the channel it's connected to. I happened to own both I regretted to have upgraded
Sorry you’re not having a great time with yours. I as well as many other creators have the exact same set up and it’s been amazing compared to the original Rodecaster Pro, as well as other interfaces and mixers. But it’s definitely not for everybody! Thanks for sharing.
100% agree and I don’t need anything for my rodecaster pro 1 for shure sm7 mic
Yep, not everyone needs every device, it's all about finding what works for you! 👍
Holy macarony!! The original pro was already so incredible device but dude...Pro 2 is just God tier.
They're called faders!!!!!!
I have a big bottom 👀
🐤
🤣
"Is it worth it? That depends on your budget and your needs."
Way to commit to an opinion in your summary.😢
These decisions are nuanced. Every purchase should be balanced by your actual needs. For example the RCP II does a hell of a lot! Now they have the baby and mid sized versions - those might be all you need. Start with the end capabilities you need and buy from that decision. Here’s what I mean - ruclips.net/video/NFyrqlRJRMY/видео.html
You should show more B-roll with the gear instead of yourself talking.
Thanks for the suggestion! Hope you still got value from the content. Thanks for watching. 😃
NO, YOU DONT!
Why pro 2, it should be 'Ultra Pro Max Legend'
Maybe, and i hope there come's a XL version, so 2x all in and outputs
I'll save you 8 minutes by telling you the main difference is one extra slidey thing on the new one 👍
That’s not true though! The rcp 2 has LESS sliders than the rcp
@@LiveStreamingPros Yes, the older one has one extra slidey thing on the new one 😁😉
