This helps players with low-end hardware to play object heavy levels as long as they can run the level at 60 FPS, which is way more convenient than having to run it at 144/240 FPS to play it without delay. But imo, the sole fact that it opens more opportunities that would be impossible on vanilla otherwise is a good enough argument to claim it does change the physics. Again, take the wave, you can build stuff that is impossible to align with on vanilla. It highlights the issue with this mod.

The difference between 60 hz and 240 hz is WAY bigger than 1000 hz and 8000 hz. The effect is smaller the higher you go. Also, that's a stupid reason in and of itself. The game's limits should not be kept behind just because some platforms are limited.

The bypass was BETTER, because you using it with vsync off gave a less input delay than playing with the equivalent monitor with vsync on. 2. If vanilla GD had a bug where some hardware caused vanilla noclip, would noclip then have to be accepted, according to your logic? See how it makes zero sense to use "hardware vs software" as the basis for determining what is a cheat and what is not a cheat?

Some perspective i think ppl need is that virtually every other precision-input based game effectively has CBF by default - the input device's poll rate is the limiting factor in precision. GD is actually the weird outlier, only checking inputs as often as FPS/TPS for some reason.

I don’t see it similar to fps bypass since you can get the effect of fps bypass with vanilla gd (by using a higher hz monitor). Cbf is something nobody in vanilla could replicate. Yes I do think saying “just get a high hz monitor” is dumb, and is a good reason for fps bypass. But it isn’t comparable to cbf bc of that imo

The biggest difference between fps bypass and cbf is that cbf helps low end hardware way more because you dont need to be able to hit those high fps counts.
As someone who is against CBF, I was also not a supporter of unofficial FPS bypass, because of the same reason: external tools that give an unfair advantage towards players that play the vanilla game should be considered cheating and not be allowed. CBF would be great if it was implemented inside the game itself by RobTop, but until that point it absolutely should not be allowed.
my guess is that rob will add click on steps, a mod that registers clicks on each physics step instead of each visual frame, making it so low end players have the benefit of being able to play on 60 with higher input polling rate, without giving high end players the benefit of the physics changes
I bet the reason why they allowed the click between frames mod on the demon list is because it literally breaks every bot. Botting softwares just get broken with click between frames.
The problem with verifying levels now is that if you use cbf it will be allowed by the demon list however the level won’t actually be able to go on the list until it’s rated and it’s not getting rated bc robtop doesn’t like it
There's some things to note about click between frames being implemented in vanilla. First off is something Rob already mentioned, it might not be viable for all platforms. Click between frames is currently only available on Windows, and there is no guarantee it'll be possible to implement on other platforms (especially iOS, maybe Android). Next is, contrary to what some people seem to believe, Click Between Frames _does_ change physics. Now, it is certainly a much smaller impact than something like TPS bypass but it is worth remembering. It likely isn't a small effort to implement bug-free, but this one, at least, should be entirely doable. An alternative for leveling the playing field would be what qimiko's Click on Steps mod does. That is, change input from being read every frame to every physics step. This is likely easier to implement as this behaviour is a prerequisite for Click Between Frames (ok, they're not technically the same, but my point still stands). Although, this would only level the playing field for those playing on less than 240fps as opposed to elevating the skill ceiling which I think most players actually want.
I also found smth interesting In treasure room, if you dont whave enough keys, you will click chests that will require more ane more keys, the gatekeeper face will be confused even more

I think that demonlist allowing cbf will start a divide between levels being rated and being placed on the list. Tidal Wave situation already anoyed so much people. Even the demonlist in their cbf statement said that it's a possibility.

When Tidal Wave got verified, players only started to care about it when it got rated so that it can be placed on the list, and they get the ability to submit their records. So many unrated levels like Diabolic Clubstep, despite being verified and having a rate-worthy decoration, are practically unknown solely because they can't be placed on the list. No rate - no placement - and everyone's reaction is as if the level never even existed

Hey I’m the person who submitted that clip and on that recording was the level Disillusionment by JiJangs. That bug happened because of a mirror portal at 21% which had a gravity portal attached to it, which caused those weird blue lines to be on the screen in the clip. It only happens rarely though. In the final ship part where the level says Thank You, the frame my cube entered that ship portal this weird blue circle appeared around my character which I think only happens because of those blue lines. When I hit that gravity portal I guess something went wrong in the code which led to me just simply not completing the level. This is very rare and has only happened to me 1 other time. This is not modded, and I play on Mobile 60hz, so I don’t think it was related to FPS.

As someone who is against CBF, I was also not a supporter of unofficial FPS bypass, because of the same reason: external tools that give an unfair advantage towards players that play the vanilla game should be considered cheating and not be allowed. CBF would be great if it was implemented inside the game itself by RobTop, but until that point it absolutely should not be allowed.
my guess is that rob will add click on steps, a mod that registers clicks on each physics step instead of each visual frame, making it so low end players have the benefit of being able to play on 60 with higher input polling rate, without giving high end players the benefit of the physics changes

As a 60hz player I get horrible tearing on 60fps but barely no tearing on 120fps lol
I bet the reason why they allowed the click between frames mod on the demon list is because it literally breaks every bot. Botting softwares just get broken with click between frames.

The problem with verifying levels now is that if you use cbf it will be allowed by the demon list however the level won’t actually be able to go on the list until it’s rated and it’s not getting rated bc robtop doesn’t like it

There's some things to note about click between frames being implemented in vanilla. First off is something Rob already mentioned, it might not be viable for all platforms. Click between frames is currently only available on Windows, and there is no guarantee it'll be possible to implement on other platforms (especially iOS, maybe Android). Next is, contrary to what some people seem to believe, Click Between Frames _does_ change physics. Now, it is certainly a much smaller impact than something like TPS bypass but it is worth remembering. It likely isn't a small effort to implement bug-free, but this one, at least, should be entirely doable.
An alternative for leveling the playing field would be what qimiko's Click on Steps mod does. That is, change input from being read every frame to every physics step. This is likely easier to implement as this behaviour is a prerequisite for Click Between Frames (ok, they're not technically the same, but my point still stands). Although, this would only level the playing field for those playing on less than 240fps as opposed to elevating the skill ceiling which I think most players actually want.

I think that demonlist allowing cbf will start a divide between levels being rated and being placed on the list. Tidal Wave situation already anoyed so much people. Even the demonlist in their cbf statement said that it's a possibility.
Level placements on the demonlist shouldn't have been tied to a level's rating in the first place imo

When Tidal Wave got verified, players only started to care about it when it got rated so that it can be placed on the list, and they get the ability to submit their records. So many unrated levels like Diabolic Clubstep, despite being verified and having a rate-worthy decoration, are practically unknown solely because they can't be placed on the list. No rate - no placement - and everyone's reaction is as if the level never even existed

Well, the purpose of this kind of list is to archive most impressive player achievements, not to highlight levels of specific difficulty, even if global GD community thinks otherwise. I think that it should place everything legitimately completed, including layouts and challenges, to demonstrate WHO has beaten the hardest thing in a game, instead of promoting levels

Ngl I think that it makes sense for the reason that cbf would be aloud for level verification because it makes certain levels verified with cbf possibly impossible or harder on a device that can’t get the mod
In my opinion, cbf SHOULD be allowed to the game, and the main reason is that you dont need to buy a super expensive monitor just to have higher frames or even a super expensive pc in general

Apart from the right-clicking and the option to change physics, what does CBF do? It changes literally nothing in my GD, except for some momentum bugs in platformer, and the fact that pausing the game clicking the pause button makes the player jump

Hey I’m the person who submitted that clip and on that recording was the level Disillusionment by JiJangs. That bug happened because of a mirror portal at 21% which had a gravity portal attached to it, which caused those weird blue lines to be on the screen in the clip. It only happens rarely though. In the final ship part where the level says Thank You, the frame my cube entered that ship portal this weird blue circle appeared around my character which I think only happens because of those blue lines. When I hit that gravity portal I guess something went wrong in the code which led to me just simply not completing the level. This is very rare and has only happened to me 1 other time. This is not modded, and I play on Mobile 60hz, so I don’t think it was related to FPS.
