Do the story where a guy died from drinking too much carrot juice.
Based on the comments, an incredible amount of people missed what actually happened here. She had a tumor in her pancreas that caused a chronically elevated level of insulin, which was constantly pushing her blood sugar below the normal range. Going keto forced her body to rely entirely on the glucose it produces itself, which your body is normally able to do without problems, especially after it has adapted to using ketones for fuel for most things. Due to the chronic hyperinsulinemia, her body was not able to function normally. Going keto actually revealed an underlying medical condition that otherwise might have gone unnoticed for months or years. I guess there is also a warning here: Sometimes it's not just keto flu, but actual hypoglycemia.
Exactly.
If there's anything this situation tells about normal physiology is that high insulin wrecks your ketone production, regardless of whether you're on the keto diet or fasting or whatever.
No wonder we shouldn't be eating sugary carbs with fats in the same meal.

What worries me more is that they never said that they've taken the baby OUT of the fridge.

True, although it's not clear to people that a keto diet causes that.
Checking all of her vitals at that point, including blood glucose level would have helped figure out the cause.

Postpartum depression is a real thing you know
That's because it's common for doctors to disbelieve female patients. There's a long history of medical and psychological doctors telling women that their problems are all in their heads when they are actually suffering from real health conditions. Some doctors used to say PMS wasn't real and that women were lying about cramps and other premenstrual issues so they can get out of housework and "seek attention".

She’s not stupid; just very, very ill. And she did follow the doctor’s recommendations by only starting keto once she decided to stop breast feeding. It’s also safe to say that her brain wasn’t functioning as normal since it was literally being starved from hypoglycemia that was essentially caused by a tumor. Her brain literally didn’t have the capacity to function normally.

I used to ride my bike up to 50 miles a day before i broke my knee. During the time i was non weight bearing I did not change my eating habits as a result my weight doubled.. I reached a point where i was always hungry even if i just ate. So I got a surgery called a gastric sleeve where most of the stomach is removed.
Immediately following that surgery I went from eating all the time to barely eating at all. It was a HUGE adjustment period for my body. The thing is I am also ADHD and the first really bad hypoglycemic episode I had I was only alerted to because of my cat. She bit me until she yanked me out of my hyperfocus, yelled at me and then led me to the kitchen and yelled at me again.
She alerted me several more times after that as my body adjusted to getting healthier portions of food less often. After a few months I quit having these attacks and I am still doing well.
My cat still takes very good care of me.
Animals can smell high blood glucose. In Sweden we have therapy dogs that can smell high blood glucose, and alert the owner with diabetes. 🇸🇪
And low glucose. The dog can alert the owner about that also, if I remember correctly.
My nephew has type 1diabetes,as does his sister. A few months ago, they got his diabetic alert dog, trained exclusively for his scent...his older sister also has the same diabetes..this smart dog ALSO alerts to high and low blood sugars on his sister,too!!...animals are smart, have scents that are beyond our imaginations..it's so cool that the cat, untrained, knows and alerts, without training..sometimes we just need to give our fur babies more credit! They are awesomely designed!!!
Your cat would make for a better guardian than most creatures ever imaginable.
Cats are truly amazing. My mother is blind, and if she walked too close to the staircase banister, both our cats would alert her. Truly remarkable. Best regards to you. :)

Yea but then we get to the end and find out the real reason she's having a problem isn't the keto diet but the cancer she has that prevents her from going into ketosis. Her cancer produces 3 times the normal amount of insulin when there is insulin in the blood the liver won't perform gluconeogenesis she didn't just have no sugar in her blood she also had no keytone bodies.

My husband had this same issue for 7 years doctors in wyoming shrugged it off . finally a move to Idaho and repeated seizures doctors finally figured out it was a non cancerous tumor on his pancreas. When they did the surgery the surgeon said everytime they would press on the tumor it would realse high levels of insulin.
Seven years, and you did nothing? Not buying the claim "doctors did nothing". Not even slightly.
@@pm2886 mom had a similar thing. Sometimes Docs have blind suggestions but not enough clarity to the person to explain what is wrong and how to fix it. For symptoms, Docs offered removing ovaries but not a reason why it was necessary to undergo a major surgery. Then, many years later, new doc gave her a scan and could point it out. Doc said they would not remove her ovaries if they can be saved. The growth was "softball size" and as the doctor moved her ovaries out of the way to get to it they "just fell apart".
@@mf-- Still not buying it. Doctors are responsible people, and communicate any important information. Unfortunately patients don't always listen - especially if they don't like what they're hearing. Other patients just avoid medical treatment altogether, then blame some doctor in the deep past for not magically guessing everything that might happen in the future.

My mother had hypoglycemia caused by a tumor on her Pancreas too! She was having episodes once very few days and her regular doctor just told her to snack more and carry candy around. Luckily for us, the docutors at USC medical (In Los Angeles) figured it out and quickly removed the tumor. She's been fine eversince.
I think I might have hyperglycemia, I get shaky when I don't eat for an extended period of time and since my early twenties whenever I hadn't eaten for a period of time I'd become shaky, irritated and for some reason I knew that I needed something sweet, like a hard piece of candy or candy bar, and the word hyperglycemia came into my mind, I've never been tested, but soon will

Definitely agree!
My friend did the keto diet with her mum. She was 16 and 100 pounds overweight. Unfortunately her body reacted in a way that ruined her kidneys. She already has had her first transplant from her mum and it failed. This covid thing is so scary for her too. She is only 21 now and is suffering everyday. It's always best to have a doctor involved in any major dietary changes.
Why did her body react that way?
she didnt do it properly.
My stepdaughter's mom tried to get her to do a keto diet with her when kiddo was just 15/16. I had a bad feeling about it so I researched and it can cause either diabetes or hypoglycemia in teens, depending on how the body reacts, because of the hormone fluctuations and frequent imbalances as puberty hits hard and fast. I printed out the warnings from sites like the Mayo Clinic and other hospitals, told kiddo to refuse the diet in lieu of just eating healthier, starting active, and limiting quantity of problem foods - a SAFE diet. I sent the articles home with her and asked her father to explain to her mother how dangerous keto can be for a teenager and that we were vehemently against it. Fortunately, the mother realized the dangers and stopped forcing the unhealthy diet onto my girl.

I learned during fitness competitions that you have to be very careful when cutting carbs because they are a VERYY important part of diet. Our coach told us that if we started experiencing trouble sleeping or started feeling very emotional then we need to eat some carbs because it was a bad sign and we could end up in the hospital.
What's a safe way to cut carbs that you learned plz to cut weight?
I think what people should do when they try keto is to taper carbs so their body has time to adjust. If your diet jumps from 60% carbs to 5% overnight your whole system is going to freak out, tumor or not. Energy is essential for your body. It can either burn carbohydrates or fatty acids for energy. If it's been using one primarily for many years, it's not going to like rapid switching to the other.

When I resumed including meats and eggs back into my diet, I instantly felt stronger, had more stamina, sickness went away. I’ve learned to listen to my body. I don’t struggle with weight gain and I’m a lot stronger than I look. I don’t eat meat everyday but I eat it once or twice a week and that’s all I need to keep myself healthy. Awe JC you go girl, hope you and your baby are doing well.
Wait, if "JC" was trying to "feed her daughter naturally," doesn't that mean breastmilk? I gained about 50 pounds while pregnant; while breast feeding, I was eating normally, but the pounds were just melting off due to the calories going into the breast milk. After 6 months of breastfeeding, all but about 10 pounds of the extra weight were gone; I lost the last 10 pounds over the next 6 months. If you're trying to breastfeed, it's NOT the time for a reducing diet, since your baby NEEDS those calories in the milk!

Better than the Kato diet where a surfer lives in your guest house and eats all your food.
@@justayoutuber1906 Omg, hilarious! A name from the past ...
@@justayoutuber1906 what happened. Briefly explain.
I was in a keto diet for 6 months , I lost 80 LBS, and suddenly my body muscles start twitching unstoppably It was a scary experience. I was referred to a neurologist because my PCP suspected I have ALS. I stopped the keto diet and get back to my regular diet, and things start to get better after almost a year. My advice: you want to loose weight, simply EXERCISE and eat healthy.
Exactly maN. Keto is a dangerous diet. Just eat whole food and max out on fruits and veggies.
Could've possibly been potassium deficiency, a notoriously difficult nutrient to get during keto.
@@Owen_loves_Butters
It wasn’t, i did a blood works and all minerals and vitamins met the standard.
Most normally healthy people do well on keto, it's very effective in most cases, but of course do healthy keto, not dirty, and cycle off it for a bit after about 6 months. Like everything in life, moderation is the key. The dose is what can make anything a potential poison, so be mindful.

Keto is unbearable long term. No bread or dairy? Fuck off, I’ll just die early.
cnsln_memphis almond milk and there are ways to make keto friendly bread, but that’s a pain in the ass
@@thelastmemphian You can have a lot of cheeses that are lower in lactose on keto. You can also have cream, thick yogurt, and other dairy products that are very low in lactose. For some people on keto these are staple products in their diet that they eat nearly every day. Perhaps you're thinking of paleo diet, which is commonly associated with keto because it also cuts out grains but for different reasons. Bread is also doable in both keto and paleo but you have to be willing to switch to alternative flours like coconut and almond, it is true that you won't be able to eat almost any bread product that is off the shelf or served to you at a restaurant.

How many people have died, or became seriously ill, after the keto diet, or another strict diet regime, aggravated a condition??? I think a video focusing on the damage these strict diets have caused would be an eye opening event for so many!! Always love your videos!!! Thank you!!! 😊❤
Well in this case it was a good thing as it revealed a serious underlying condition… a cancer in her pancreas.
What happened when a mom with abnormal growth in her pancreas chose to feed her baby while on ZERO carbs diet (instead of low carbs) for 30 days.

keto isnt about having 0 carbs, its about remaining in ketosis which allows for varying lvl of carb intake which is key for insulin feedback loop. 0 carbs is atkins, shame on you chub
