Seems to be a big trend in Metal, one or more people going off and either joining someone new or starting their own projects. We've been introduced to so many new places and then find out "oh that singer or player isn't there anymore" lol
My 10 month old has loved this song for past 6 months lol heard it to death now. This was bear wrestler post split with the guitarist and singer and the new guitarist and singer in this video went on to make Spiritbox
Fun react fellas! This song was legit released over a decade ago. As one would expect, Courtney has refined (and damn near perfected) her vocals after all of those years. With talent like that in the early 2010s its no surprise her new output Spiritbox is blowing up! I'd recommend "The Summit", its prly my fav SB vocal performance. There are also a few vids of Courtney doing live one-take vocals in the studio that are worth checking out.
It's probably more to do with approach than the voice changing or becoming a better singer. Spiritbox is more vibey so her vocal approach is different.
Iwrestledabearonce was fun. They were light hearted and down to earth. I like Spiritbox but Spiritbox felt like such a slap in the face to iwrestledabearonce fans in that it was like Courtney and Mike went on and got initially propped up by iwrestledabearonce fans and then forgot about the very thing that got them their start as a new band. There was an online article recently that interviewed them and kept referring to them as musicians new on the scene and they just ran with it. It’s like, no, you’re not new, you have been at it for over a decade touring all over the world. So it makes it difficult for me as a fan to enjoy Spiritbox. It just has this very elitist stuck up aura to it that I don’t vibe with and it’s evident in this react video by dude on the right. Get a sense of humor and take the stick out of your ass. Iwrestledabearonce is a punk rock middle finger at the generic standard and I’ll forever love them for it. React to “that ain’t them dogs real voices”. Dude on the right would HATE it. x’D OR if you wanna see Courtney and Mike when he joined the band go listen to “gift of death”. Lmao now that’s a wild song with Mike from Spiritbox in it but I don’t think dude on the right would like it. If you really want to hear iwrestledabearonce songs that sound more like Spiritbox I would say listen to “Green Eyes”, “The Map”, or “That’s A Horse Of A Different Color”.
Let's be clear, Unicron was her first band, not this. And Courtney and Mike have talked about never feeling at home in this band because they were "replacements." Spiritbox is their baby. And belittling them for wanting that... and succeeding with that, is weird.
@@GeekFurious I am not belittling them for wanting their own band. I am sad that they look back at IWABO like it is not something worth recognizing. They weren't just "replacements". They were huge parts of that band's history. That band touched many people's lives with their music, their content, and their personalities. There is some beautiful music that both Courtney and Mike contributed to across multiple albums and it's not weird at all to feel slighted by seeing them sort of diminish that. Also you're not telling me something I don't know by mentioning Unicron so gtfo lol.
My favorite band of all time. Such a shame they broke up. :(

That's a fair assessment
