  • Nigel Farage gets combative, saying there is a "total lack of comprehension on the panel" - and in the audience. That gets a reaction. David Dimbleby tells him the audience was selected by an independent organisation.

      Very good question.
      Its like when you see old TV shows, and the fake audiences screaming with laughter at things which aren't really funny at all.
      These debates don't need audience ques to tell people watching, when to boo, laugh or scream unnecessary childish abuse!
      The BBC makes no effort in hiding its blatant loaded questions whatsoever, and it's so insanely obvious, that it has the complete opposite effect to the hatchet job they planned. :) God bless Nigel... one of the greatest people in politics to have ever existed.

    Very brave Nigel. As a member of the real audience I appreciate the fact that you are so beyond all the nonsense of the other parties. When the other leaders speak you just look straight ahead, you are beyond them, so many of us are. It took me a long time to wake up, I was a Labour voter three times, then voted once each for the Liberals, Greens and Conservatives. I really tried to understand them. But Labour led us into foreign wars and the both Labour and the Conservatives gave away our sovereignty to Europe. I thought well, I'll vote Green, you can't dislike them and all the other parties try to have a bit of green in their policies to look good! But I notice to my horror that the greens want to build 500,000 new houses in our overcrowded island. This is ungreen and unsustainable.
    Watching this I feel the other leaders are like members of a cult. They are all sining from the same hymnbook, although perhaps they are on different pages. When Nigel speaks it all makes sense. So real people, here is our representative, you know what you've got to do, go out on election day and do it.

      richard richardson Well if a man raises the issue of the extreme cost of treating HIV patients who are not from our country, is a good reason to get on a high horse then you would say that. Ask yourself should the NHS spend £1billion on treating non contributors or put the money on the front line for UK residents? Obviously the LibLabCon (SMP,PC -lol) would push asking these desperate people to pay £20,000 upfront for treatment that is given freely. TBH it's more practical to say we cannot afford to treat them than to lie about believing that you can ask a poor African for £20,000 a year. Their governments should pay, or charities but not the British tax payer!

      David Holdstock I don't want an arguement but I am curious as to what you would do other than build more houses. Even if we were to completely stop all immigration and confiscate the property foreign born people live in, we would still need to build more houses to compensate for new-born brits. Is this still ungreen and unsustainable?

    • @Fastdags
      @Fastdags 9 лет назад +1

      It gets better than that. The privately educated Australian champagne socialist is in full support of the total freedom of movement laws for all people in Europe. How exactly does she think these free moving peoples get around, by foot, by bicycle, by swimming? When they are here, does she honestly think that they don't routinely return to their countries of origin to see friends, family and home sweet home? Presumably, they all do this by walking and swimming? Just as she travelled the 9,443 miles from Australia to the UK on foot so as to keep her carbon footprint as low as possible!

      Good question. We would build more houses, but not so many, and put those on brownfield sites. It should also be remembered that family breakdown is another driver towards building more houses, so perhaps this could be addressed in some way.
      I realise we are living in a society that requires growth and house-building, but I have to wonder what end date do the advocates of mass house-building have in my mind. By which year will we have enough houses? We could in theory, and probably in practice, concrete over the entire country within a century.

    I am not a UKIP supporter, but let's be honest the audience were completely biased (or those that upreared were). It seems, in my opinion, that the audience as well as the panel was anti-UKIP. Some of the points, Nigel mentioned were completely valid and it was made public by the moderator (David, that is) that input from the audience should have not been included. Yet, throughout the night the audience was bashing and ultimately crucifying this man. This debate exemplified the bravery Nigel has, and despite his views I admire him for that.

    He was absolutely right. Let's put things into perspective:
    UKIP are polling roughly 15% of the electorate.
    The Tories are polling roughly 35% of the electorate.
    That's 50% or 1 in 2 broadly-speaking "right-wing" thinking people, and yet the audience - Plaid and the SNP, got huge claps every time they spoke, and frankly I didn't anything of much worth coming out of that Taffy's mouth bar "austerity, austerity." The Greens and Labour also got loud applauses particularly when denouncing Cameron and tory cuts. UKIP hardly got a clap, despite around 75% (according to polls) of people in Great Britain wanting big changes to immigration, and 1/6 people who are going to vote UKIP.
    You're meant to be impartial BBC, you're meant to represent us. Why couldn't you have an audience where 20% were UKIP, 20% labour, 20% SNP and so on....therefore total impartiality.
    The truth is, you cultural-marxist, politically-correct tossers don't represent ordinary, straight-thinking British folk, and you merely speak for your champagne socialist friends in Hampstead that read the Guardian and froth at the mouth over everything Jeremy Clarkson or Nigel Farage says.
    Thankfully, things are changing, and the views of narrow-minded, bitter, left-wing cretins like the people who run your organisation are on the decline.

    Speaking as a person who doesn't know too much about politics, I have to say that Nigel Farage is perhaps the only British politician who isn't afraid to speak the truth on the world stage. Like the ITV debate a few weeks ago, he was the only one last night to directly answer all questions thrown at him instead of covering his own arse to sound 'good' and get lame applause from the audience like the other four did. None of the four answered his view on Britain having an Australian Style Point System, they just regurgitated their pre-rehearsed statements that whilst semi-legit, were completely irrelevant to the question.
    Farage is not interested in pleasing a hand-picked BBC audience. It is the people who do not like to hear the truth (which unfortunately constitutes most of Britain and the audience last night) that despise him. In hindsight, he was probably right to challenge the audience as 90% of them were left-wing socialists. It was effectively 200 vs 1.
    I'm not saying that everything he says is correct but acts like that show that he is a courageous and bold individual who means Britain well and more importantly, isn't afraid to speak the brutal truth about current affairs. I'd definitely want someone like that to be my leader. Then again this is just my opinion; I'm well aware of the shitstorm of an argument this post will produce..

  • @Kohl423
    @Kohl423 9 лет назад +8

    Nigel Farage was absolutely correct. The audience WAS biased and selected to be so. The BBC say otherwise but then again they would since they deeply support the Labour Party. I like others noted how the audience went quiet when Nigel mentioned immigration. That alone proved Nigel's point. The considerable majority of the people of this country, including those immigrants who came here years ago, raised families, worked hard and contributed. They all equally feel cheated. They are annoyed that mass uncontrolled immigration is STILL happening. Our country and all of our services are being flooded. It's allowing mass cheap "Labour" allowing employers to abuse those in low paid jobs. The lefties and luvvies only ever moan about an ageing population while choosing to ignore that fact that those older people all worked, paid taxes and N.I., whereas the mass flood of migrants have not. In some cases they never intend to do so. They can obtain money to sent abroad to families who don't even live here. Ask anyone in the street and the answer will be the same. Ask it of a BBC audience or those in the media or the luvvies, and you somehow get a different response. It is also amazing how many people still believe Ed M, the Green whacko's, or the other nitwits despite being cheated by one and all at every turn. No wonder the MP's think the voters are thick!

    Looks like Nigel was right. If the “independently chosen representative audience” had been chosen correctly, there would have been more Leavers than Remainers. That evidently was not the case and the national Referendum result proves that Nigel was correct and that the BBC audience was the antithesis of representative.

There is often an imbalance in debates between opposing sides. What I hate most is this persistent shouting over one another's voices and then I simply cannot follow or understand very much at all.
