Nigel was certainly spot regarding the effect of mass immigration, particularly regarding healthcare.

Immigrants make a net contribution to GDP and you're falling for the scapegoating of immigrants that the press and charlatans like Farage have been pulling for over a hundred years.

What they omit (from their headlines at least) is that whilst it's apparently true that all immigration (this of course includes all of the very highly skilled migrants from developed countries) does make a small net contribution, you should actually look at whether they make more, or less, in percentage terms than the rest of the country.
If they generate less than the rest, then they are dragging down the GDP per capita, and therefore reducing the per capita funding available for all of our infrastructure needs.

My favourite part is when Farage says that quality of life matters more than being slightly better off economically and then Izzards first point is about the finanial benefits of EU migrants - £20billion into the economy over 10 years? Thats less than 1/50th of the UK annual budget.

@@yanapostrophe4331 Sweden was a failure of integration, not of immigration. They accepted more refugees than they could accommodate with the idea that capacity could be expanded later - except it never was. Immigrants were given housing in areas that became ghettos with no job opportunities.
In the UK there is currently a huge demand for labour as we've now booted out most seasonal and migrant labourers (migrant means they live here but do not intend to do so forever and send money to families abroad, these guys kept our logistics sector afloat almost entirely with Poles and Romanians).
Brexit has been an all-round disaster.
Farage's main attack line was that we could stay in the single market but restrict the movement of people, thus keeping the benefits of the EU while getting rid of the perceived downsides. Obviously this was never going to happen and it makes no sense as to why the EU would ever allow such a system with anyone. Instead we're now enslaved to the EU, by far and large are biggest trade partner, and don't have any influence in its policymaking anymore. We have severe labour shortages that can't be fulfilled by indigenous workers due to our horrific cost of living crisis and rampant inflation, caused by over a decade of cavaliering Tory mismanagement. Brexit compounded these issues. It's just a spiral of awfulness that gets worse and worse all the time.

Rather than focusing on Farage being a hypocrite for being from immigrant parents, Eddie could have focused on the 22,000 EU nationals who left the NHS as a result of Brexit. Maybe remainers didn't have those predictions back then or were labelled as project fear.

I dont think he did really. Eddie is very progressive and supports multiculturalism. There is a an argument to be made that the UK was conquered so many times through history that its foundations are built largely on multicultural ideas mixing. Taking a full multicultural approach will evolve and advance a nations identity more than trying to keep it fixed in time with nationalistic ideals. Obviously you have to find a middle ground because you can't fit billions of people on the little land the UK covers. This is why there are the further opposites of the spectrum like Farage and like Eddie.
Farage is just wrong because he wants to preserve the UK in a state it was in historically. Its not progressive at all. Eddie isn't wrong as such but maybe too far into idealism because there has to be some fundamental level of immigration control to stop overcrowding and draining of resources in just 1 small area of the world.

On reflection as a remain supporter - I believe most of the reason we voted in favour of Brexit is because the lack of willingness to engage in civil discussions about major political discussion points, such as immigration. As much as I don’t agree with him, Farage comes across far more informed and pragmatic than Izzard in this example. If I didn’t know anything regarding the EU by just watching this clip, I’d probably be in favour of Brexit.
