    We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and the wife wanted/ needed this Kitchen Aid refrigerator and all matching appliances except for the range hood (Z Line) and as a great husband...I said alright😀👍🏼 but I really wanted a Sub Zero fridge with the window but the price was crazy expensive.

    I just got mine delivered today. It's kind of noisy. An annoying buzzing, like a florescent light or distant leaf blower. I called my sales guy and he's confident that it will quiet down in 24 hrs after it reaches operating temp.

      Get it replaced. The units made in 2017 have a Service Bulletin issued as the design of the FF Section Evaporator is flawed and the newer models shipped in 2018 are completely resigned. Our replacement is nearly silent and no longer emits the high pitched tone or buzzing such as yours when power saving mode is on. It also has a much smoother operation in terms of the ice maker. Far quieter.

      @@ms3er396 So - do you still like it in 2019? I'm thinking of buying one this weekend.

    • @ms3er396
      @ms3er396 5 лет назад +3

      @@tomboysuze Yes. Zero issues with the latest version. There are a couple minor things though but nothing that would keep me from buying it again.
      1. The ice maker is finiky. I keep the temp set to 40 in the fridge as any lower it will ice items on the center and lower shelves. Actual temps are totally fine but it just has some pretty cold spots. I'm not sure if its related but the ice maker tray will 1-2 times in as many weeks freeze up and I'll have to wiggle the tray to break it loose so that it can empty it's ice and begin making more. I actually check it ever 1-2 days first thing in the am when I get my coffee cream. A little drag on my faith but I can live with it.
      2. The handles fasten in the poorest manner I've seen. Hard to explain but the freezer one constantly comes loose. The fix that's held thus far is I wrapped the screw with some duck tape thus helping "wedge" it in place as it's not a typical screen in hole fastening system. It's more or less a screw that presses in sideways into another screw. Crazy design. Hard to explain I know but you'll see what I mean.
      3. The left side door needs to be opened last and closed first. YOu'll forget just like we all in our home do. What happens is a small flap of rubber gasket gets ripped off the very top and bottom of the right side door. Nothing that impacts the sealing of the doors but I can see it's purpose....but not any more as I simply cut them off vs having them hang in the wind. Again, a poorly thought out final detail.
      If you can look past these little things, yes. Like I said, for us we did a full remodel of the kitchen and thus we wanted matching appliances and for me it's not an option to have a fridge that doesn't match. The matching is more or less to me the way the stainless steel is finished out. Thankfully our Wolf Stoves all match up but a SubZero brand Fridge is 2-3x as much as this one so unless it takes a crap and I get really pissed, I'm not spending 6-9k on a fridge.

    Can anyone PLEASE tell me if the bottom of the dispenser (tray) pulls out to 'extend'? I don't care if I can remove it - I want to extend it to be able to place a larger vessel there. The JennAir version can. I do not think the Whirlpool version does. NO ONE knows about this one.

    USA quality at its worst!!!! Bought because it was American made...what a disgrace! Nothing but head aches and food poisoning!!! Kitchenaid already replaced one...had to wait 6 months without a fridge for the newer model in which they assured us all issues where fixed....they where not. We have been beyond patient fixing everything they said to do, now 3 years in on number 2 and still the same issue they say it's out of warranty. Not to mentioned numerous times my family has gotten sick because it does not keep your food cold continously. What a public health hazard kitchenaid...your corporate safety officer asked "can food poisoning be fatal". All they do is transfer, lie, and disconnect so you have to call back in and wait another hour to talk to someone.
