Many people happening across this and not having been there will probably think it's a lot of confused rambling nonsense. Actually it probably was, but what they will also never know is the sheer joy these nights were at the Cap. I lived for Tuesday nights and Reg's inspired performances. I have never laughed and had such fun at a show since then. The Cap was Regina's home. Those shows, with the amateur talents of Skippy (Adam), Zsarday, Rose Marie and all the others were part of one of the most inspired drag pub shows I have ever seen. Only Reg could have done this - aided and abetted by David Rosen, the original audience Fongettes (of which i am proud to have been one of) and the taped sketch clips which were the backbone of Regina's show. I was almost in tears by the end of this compilation as I sang along with Tell Me What He Said. Thank you for posting this, and thank you for recording this unique show. There'll never be another dear! Jungle Red!!!
You are so right, you just have to look at audience participation. I have so many great memories of seeing Reg perform and the audience thoroughly enjoying it and knowing all the routines etc
I realise you posted this 8 years ago but still I say, thank you so much!!!!! I first went to the Black Cap when I was 19 (almost 50 years ago). At at that time I used to go on Sunday lunch times to see Marc Fleming and Mrs Shufflewick. I then became a regular at the Cap. I used to go every Tuesday night to see Regina's show and evetually became a friend. I was reminded of Regina's funeral recently when Paul O'Grady passed away. Paul was at Regina's funeral and gave the soliloquy - he was brilliant. If I ever won the Euromillions lottery (lol) I would buy the Black Cap and open it again as it was before.
Thank you Shane, many a Tuesday night spent watching the brilliant Regina Fong and many others on different days. I'm 51 now and went to the Black Cap before it closed, such a shame to see how different it was 20 years ago. Best years of my youth spent at the Cap, Vauxhall Tavern & Market Tavern.
Just found these Regina Fong clips this evening, and boy what memories have come flooding back to me. The Black Cap, the White Swan and RVT. Some of the other comments are spot on when they say we'll never see the likes of Regina and some of the other great acts of the era again. I loved the audience participation of RF's show's.Sadly missed, of course.
I remember knocking on his dressing room door at the White Swan around 1990-91. I asked for a signed photo. He glared at me but signed one for me anyway. I went to his funeral where Paul O'Grady gave a hilarious eulogy. Dearly and greatly missed.
don't think I've ever been to the Black Cap but I saw this act many many times at the Two Brewers throughout the 90s. Never knew nor cared what the act was about, just wanted to sing along to Skippy, Windmill in Old Amsterdam and the typewriter song. Haven't been in a gay club for many years now and likely never will now. The atmosphere has changed.
God, this all seems like 5 minutes ago :O :O I used to see her at B.J.'s The White Swan back in the drunken fab-filled 90's. The 90's were great to be a gay clubber :)
I just remember the audience participation was intoxicating with or without drinks or drugs who could resist joining in from the moment she appeared on stage.
I looove U ...the regina fong. ! wwwwhen I first saw U..I wanted 2 look and beeee on the stage toooo.. And you know what..? she made it happen..well, some other time..same place, same stage....yes!...YES YES YES YES YES I LOVE YOU 4EVER..Mulle
Zsarday (patterned dress), Adrella (red dress), Lady Ebbonknee (silver dress), Millie Turner (black dress) and the other one I am not sure of. Sadly Zsarday and Adrella are both gone too.

Rambling, Random, non-sensical nonsense. But that was the point of it. It was unique, engaging and truly mad. BUT IT WAS BLOODY FUN!!!
