Good information and advice Bet most dealers don’t tell customers that it’s not the trans and get mowers dirt cheap Happy you took time to show us the fix and really reasonable Plastic junk parts
Great video. I've been try to diagnose what was wrong with my X300 not going into reverse. I would never have guessed what you were able to figure out. After inspecting mine, sure enough it was broken in half.
I've had to adjust my x320 for forward and it was ok. Not sure if mine has that. Being the experimenter that I have always been, I think I would get a copper tubing and cut it in half and slide in the two halves to take the place of that plastic. Wait until you try and change the oil in the tranny. 🤣 Mine is a 2010 model with the self destructive plastic hood. Good explanation and video. I'll have to look and see if mine is like that. Maybe even a wooden dowel and drill out the center to fit that shaft. I will try anything. 😂I have bypassed and did my own conversions all my life if I could. Yes, things have always been designed to fail. If they didn't, then they would not make anymore money from people. I have harassed corporate a few times about them doing a recall on their garbage hood that broke into pieces and want over $500.00 for another plastic hood. And people wonder why so many buy japanese things that last forever. I may be dumb...but I'm not stupid. As I have always said. 😁 Thanks for the video.
Was wondering why my mower was acting slower in reverse, but not a JD. Same trans axle I think. But, it makes me wonder if I could 3D print one of those, and then drill it out to accept a bronze bushing. Over kill? Maybe. Ever wear out? Probably not.
I could not see that flexing but now I see, if you know a machine shop to get someone to make you an aluminum replacement to put in there. Then that would be fixed for life. Might cost you $100.00 for it, 😄 but it would be done forever. Is your tranny the K58? You have to put in your own drain plugs... 2 of them in the bottom. Haven't done that yet. Thanks again. 🥰

Not a very good discretion of how to remove and reinstall
Wow, yeah - that’s garbage engineering. I checked out my neighbor’s John Deere and it’s the exact problem. 😣
