Can you do a video on smart wall plugs? Which ones work best, which ones integrate best with Alexa/google, which ones have smart energy monitoring (I would love a smart wall plug that tells me current wattage and amps being pulled), etc.
I love how you provide the detailed instructions on how you created your automations in Home Assistant, it's very helpful for someone like me who is just getting started with HA. Thank you so much for all your videos.
My best doorbell automation (aqara button) is that if it's pressed in a specific secret sequence, it will unlock the door. That is used as a backup option if my phone is out of battery and no-one's home.
Regarding the first one: Make it a notification that is randomly sent to either you or your wife or the Echo calling only one of your names. That's some next level Russian Roulette.
I've just discovered your channel. Well done! I've subbed, liked and will watch many more. As a former Crestron, Elan and RTI programmer and systems designer I am staggered by how commonplace and affordable these things have become. Now easily replacing relatively complex routines and 'macros' and tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment just a couple of decades ago they have developed AI and sensors that are essentially free comparatively. It went from 'toys for the very wealthy' living in custom-built homes to intuitive, sensor-laden gadgets that have become everyday essentials and now suit every budget.
Hi Is it possible to do a video about the routine on showing picture of delivery at from door (:56 sec) as well as 5 minute reminders (1:26 sec). Thanks
Hi I'm from Brazil. I really liked the references from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Do you think it's a good idea for video, automations that Ferris would do if the movie happened today? It would have unlimited potential with Google, alexa and all smart devices haha
It's not straightforward, but you could have the doorbell turn on a virtual switch that is reset by the door opening. A Smarthings Routine can detect if the virtual switch has been left on too long and notify you.
Great suggestions! I use IFTTT in conjunction with my ring doorbell it calls my cell phone when a motion is detected. The doorbell once pressed opens my package box for deliveries to be placed, I then close it once I see the package has been delivered. Slow opening and closing to prevent liability issues.
I have been trying to show the my unifi doorbell on my tv as the second box but cannot get it working with my home assistant. Do you have the steps to do this you can share?
Since I have a Nest Hello, I have a pir motion detector (zigbee) on my porch linked to Alexa Echo dot 3. When triggered , Alexa says " Ok Google, Stream front door cam on TV 4" (or whatever smart tv I choose in my home). I have 6 Google mini speakers & 3 Echo Dots. 1 of each in my Attic side by side. Since my Attic is used solely for storage purposes , no foreign sound interference between the 2 smart speakers, which make this set up seamless and work quite well... PS I also do the same with my Neat Smart Lock👍🏿😁
As someone who delivers packages as my job I would never think to look at the door bell for a screen and then take the time to read that screen, just please leave an notes on the delivery
My nest doorbell just died, I’m invested into google and HomeKit ecosystem. What do you recommend to replace it with? Another google doorbell or something else, thanks
Well you can use Starling home hub to connect a nest doorbell to HomeKit, but imo you’d be better off finding a HomeKit secure video doorbell that works with Google Assistant too.
I really like it. My only complaint is being able to talk to someone at the front door with the doorbell doesn't work well at all. If you check out my latest doorbell comparison I show what that looks like. Besides that it's an amazing doorbell.
@@Alessandro20090313 yea it’s a really fun experience! Personally, I had no prior knowledge in coding or diy work but now I find myself making my own sensors and automations and I’m loving it.

Yea it’s pretty limited in terms of functionality in automations. What I did is integrate it to Home Assistant and gained some control over it. Although it’s still missing the person detection feature in HA so that sucks..

liked the Ferris tribute at the end
The whole video was a Ferris tribute 😀
Yea, what about the one in the middle?
All the Ferris tributes just make me want to do a twist and shout.
LOVE the all the Ferris references!
Awesome video and tribute to a great movie. Love your content. Thanks for all you do.
Loved all the Ferris Easter eggs. For the backyard blinking lights, how does your home know you're in the back yard?
You can have a "get the state of" rule so it looks for the backyard lights to be on and only then will it say to blink those lights.

Does it work on Samsung TV? I have a eufy doorbell but doesn't work for me :(

Super helpful. Especially the write up in the description.
Thanks, I’m glad the write up is helpful!
Really enjoyed the automation ideas Reed, and I loved the Ferris cultural references!

Loved all the Ferris Bueller references. Just got a new home and am a new sub. Absolutely LOVE your channel.
For the TV notification, is that assuming the use of a FireTV or something else?
Not so fast .. gonna need the lawn secrets too .. that thing is beautiful
Yet another amazing video. Confirmation that you are indeed the GOAT. This will definitely help me step up my doorbell game. Thank you!
Fantastic as usual. These are turning into art pieces.
Wow, thanks! I appreciate that!
Are these automations specific for the video doorbell you use or can I have them happen when I get my ring doorbell
Ohh Ferris Buellers day off.. One of my favourite feel good movie
Loved the ferris bueller references!
Can you please help me setup the doorbell preview on my TV. I have a Samsung frame TV and a Ring doorbell Pro but don't even know where to start.
Haha loved all the ideas and the FBDO theme! I need to show this movie to my kids.
Haha thanks! Yeah it’s a classic!
Man you love using Home for your music. :) And I ABSOLUTELY love them!
This video reminded me. Save Ferris was my daughters favorite band.
Haha, i love the little cameos of yourself.
Any giveaways coming up? Tis the season! :)
Very good, very funny. Paul will be envious.
easier solution. Get everything google including the tv. Then you get all this. But also that doorbell is awesome. Great video!
The white bezel on the Frame looks really good. I should add one of those bezels but I was never sure which one to get.
Yeah the white looks really clean! I was considering the wood look one but the reviews had me concerned. I love the white though.
Loved this one! Some automations I really didn't think of, but very useful. Thanks again!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked some of the ideas!
loved it great ideas save ferris
Thanks for posting Reid
Very slick.

Great vid, now i need a unifi doorbell.
I just skimmed through your linked article. It looks like you are able to achieve all the integrations with the Unify G4 doorbell. Is this true?

Ive got the newest ring pro, but the quality is trash compared to the eufy. But, the motion dection of the ring is spot on. I cant decide.
thanks for the great ideas!
Yup,beware of porch pirates ... 🤐 How to make my TV (SmartThings) alert me like that? 😲
Great video and cool ideas! What is the name of the app shown on 2:00?
Haha! What I need is something that stops the dog from barking so I can even talk to a person at the door through my doorbell camera.
awesome vid, can you do a vid on good automations with smart life please.

Great job buddy, I have a Eufy doorbell which I bought after seeing your review. Keep em coming. 🙏
Do you need a fire stick to do the picture in picture on the tv with the doorbell
Think so
Great ideas but how are you doing all this? Is this strictly on home assistant and alexa?
Mostly Home Assistant. I wrote down everything here: smarthomesolver.com/reviews/8-doorbell-automation-ideas/
Smart Home Solver, you’re my hero
Can you do automation video with the Wyze doorbell? I love mine but man its hard to anything with it unfortunatley...
is it possible to connect unifi door bell to the google home assistant with a screen?
I'm new to the smart home space...i feel stupid asking ..how does everyone get their lights to blink?
Do I have to have the same doorbell or can I use my current doorbell which is a nest hello for all these automations?
This is cool and I wish someone would set it up for me!
Wow your TV looks well nice, what brand and model is it?
That’s the 2021 Samsung Frame TV with the white bezel attachments

How in the world do you get Alexa to say all the hilarious phrases?? 😂
You can have her say preprogrammed responses to any prompt
@@saxdogg69 I've never even thought to do that. I'm also primarily a Google speaker user, Ive always much preferred the Google AI over Amazon.

I’ve wanted to add the tv notifications on my Apple TV 4K with the nest hello, is there anyway to get these two to talk together
no because it's Apple
@@techguy348 I thought that now with the new apple language with apple Amazon and Google some what coming together it would be possible with HomeKit

Is it possible to have a button that activates a nest mini instead of saying hey google?
Amazon Echoes (without a display) have a function button you can press instead of saying the keyword.
How did you create those automations?

That makes sense. These are just ideas, so you could always implement one of them and skip others.
