Thank you for your work and inspiration. Funnily i have just finished my staircase lights 2 days ago. Using full rgb, motions sensors at the top and bottom, and on top of that manual control over mqtt with a home assistant entity. This way i can pick any color in a solid effect or 1 of many prebuilt effects that would work well for a party, Christmas, new years eve etc. Oh and also brightness control when in manual control mode.

I have RUclips Red and listen to long videos while driving with the SCREEN OFF mostly at 1.5 times speed (between 1.25 to 1.75 x speed always).
I can toggle this easily on DESKTOP browser with mere single keyboard shortcuts using extensions like video speed controller/ global speed controller, etc. They even allow custom seconds of rewind and skip fwd hotkeys.
In the Android RUclips app, for me to just to REWIND back via app (default 10 sec), requires me the user to wake up screen and double tap left side of screen. I had tried enabling accessibility settings to insert an extra rewind / fastfwd button, but still need to unlock / wake up the phone and summon the app if not I'm the active window.
I have tried "okay google' functionality:
I will be getting an Xperia 1 iii soon with a built in dedicated google assistant button so that will help skip the brief delay (of the "okay Google" wake up trigger), but I still don't want to reach for the phone and say " .... rewind (*) seconds " every time.
      What do you suggest?
Some sort of Bluetooth hand trigger / 'puck' with 2-4 buttons ?
A mini Keyboard to hold in one hand?
Volume button remapper for double-click up/down?
Looking for fast predictable rewinding ideally without touching the phone, let's say I click the rewind button 4 times, I expect 40 second rewind (depending on what the default setting is 5 vs 10 vs 15 seconds)
As a bonus, it be good if one of the buttons toggled the chosen example 1.5 x speed vs regular 1x speed , but that would likely work with browsers like kiwi browser which allow you to install chrome extensions like for desktop. However I personally would like to stick to the Android RUclips app.
If this has already been addressed by someone else / your prior projects, kindly direct me the way.
      Thank you.

That's a great automation! When I was a kid I put my laundry in the washer and it automatically washed, folded, and transported to my bed. My new washer and dryer though didn't seem to come with this function. Haha

I’ve set up a couple of virtual switches in ST to help with the triggering of automations. GUESTS switch disables all of the time based stuff / motion sensor notifications/ turning off the outside lights if we have guests over (you remember guests). SCHOOL DAY toggles whether the bus reminders are run or not on a weekday; don’t need the audiovisual reminders during school holidays. CLOTHES ON LINE reminds me to bring in the laundry one hour before sunset / sends us notifications if the weather changes to rain and we need to save the clothes from getting wet again.
I’m sure you guys have other FLAGS we should all be setting on out systems.

I have a LED strip on my kitchen below the top cabinets to help you see better. This is running WLED so I can control it with node-red and together with my ShellyEM I change color and/or flash it red when I'm approaching or I'm beyond the power consumption I have from my grid so the general switch doesn't "blow up" (not sure the exact term for that in english)

Broadlink are great remotes! The bad thing is that little by little they start getting greedy like Phil * ps HUE. In the new application, routines for S1C and S2C are not supported. Don't they understand the logic that if they don't stop the maintenance of the old devices I will be satisfied. Which will make me buy more of their devices in the future for every room in my home. I also want to give them money for broadlink e-air expansion modules, I don't know why they don't take advantage of that. What are they waiting for ?!

That's a bummer it didn't work for you. I didn't have any issues luckily.

Do you know of any good, cheap buttons for HomeAssistant?

The Shelly button is the best there is.
It integrates directly with Home Assistant, through the Shelly integration, or you can flash it with Tasmota, through a simple Over The Air process.
And since it uses WiFi, you can directly hook it up to Home Assistant, without having to buy a separate zigbee coordinator.

@@user-xu2pi6vx7o At $25, I'm considering it. For about the same price, I can get the broadlink quad-button with hub. I do like that the Shelly is water resistant and rechargeable. Thanks for the recommendation!

I am soooo annoyed that Homekit is still so bad compared to all others.
