"I'm the gap between a tragedy and comedy" that part is just made for a comic relief character that constantly gets dismissed and degraded by their team *Cough cough* 2012 Mikey *Cough cough*
Or… When the antagonist kills the original protagonist, the Plot/the Fiction Organization DEMANDS that antagonist to play the protagonist’s role or face eternal damnation
It would be interesting to have a book about a main character who actually was the bad guy all along but it starts in with the idea that the mc is a hero in the beginning but slowly revealed the farther you go into the book
that's my ocs. except at first it plays into the trope of a group of villains that are 'omg so silly and goofy!! they act like a family!!' though the story progresses, slowly revealing that they're all super toxic and manipulative to one another and the group are actually terrible, horrible people. I like the idea of the main characters not being a 'peace and love' hero trying to save the entire goddamn world while acting all silly. yes I'm talking about Steven.
I've read a lot of comments on here about people's analysis on this song, and I'd like to chip in my two cents too! Honestly, the first time I heard this song, it came across as very sarcastic to me. Almost as if the person singing it is mocking themself and others like them. Mocking protagonists/heroes in general. As if the only thing that makes them special is that they're the only character in the book that matters, but only because they were created to be. They didn't earn their place, it was just given to them. But the two lines that get to me the most are these: "God forbid I'm seen as just an average human being." and "I'm the main character and you have to like me." I think of the first line as being that the main character feels like they can't be seen as human, as being relatable, because they are the main character. They have to be kind, strong, brave, funny etc. Basically, have all positive attributes and no negative ones. Or just minor flaws that can be easily brushed off. They're not allowed to be human, because as the main character, they exist solely for the entertainment of the readers. And this main character feels that no one wants to read about, or be around, a main character whose flawed, who is human. And the last line means that the main character must be likable to be the main character in the first place. That they have to have the readers like them, and if they don't, then they have lost their place as the main character. Basing their self worth on whether people like them or not is the hidden point I see here. So ergo, being too relatable, or too flawed, or too human equals being unlikable. If you're not perfect at all times, then no one likes you. If no likes you, then you're worthless, and no longer worthy of being the main character. And this main character is mocking all of that, but is trapped in the vicious cycle of wanting freedom but frightened of losing their sense of self worth by being 'the main character'. Whoever reads this, I hope you're having a great day! 😊
noooo spolierssss I'm working on Trials of Apollo, Magnus Chase is next. :( Though I have wanted to read a book in which the main character _does_ die. soooooo it's all good ig?
i kinda wanna write a story about a knight who is really bad at his job but somehow always survives and gets deluded enough to think he is the main character even he is actually the mc

YES, ITS SO SAD 😭😭
Now it’s Leo from rise
I can see the antagonist murders the protagonist to become the main character and sings this trying to win the rest of the crowd over
I love it when people imagine scenarios in songs lol (I imagine a protagonist being tired of being used, so they go bad)
@@Psiodyneee that’s exactly what I’m thinking this make a great short vid or play

I am realllllyyyyyyyyyy loving how "smug overlord" this sounds (I write that sort of character all the time!)

That's what my main oc is like, the whole story is making people trust and admire her, but in the end she was evil
