i like to imagine it’s just a song about a man being bounced around from therapist to therapist and medication to medication to treat illness without a good result. the song title comes from a Black Box Warning, which is a deadly warning on medication that can kill you. who knows, though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i wouldn’t write an extensive take on it here
@@phoneyogurt From what I've heard, you're pretty close! Apparently it's about Will Wood talking about possibly taking a medication for his bipolar that could kill him!
@@Titleknown this makes a lot of sense. As far as mental illness meds go, anti psychotics can be some of the most dangerous. I took like 100mgs of seroquel and ended up having a hella bad restless leg syndrome attack, passed out for a good day or two. It's not like that for everyone and in the past I was able to take over 1000 mgs without any problems , but it's definitely a hella realistic possiblity
It’s about an abusive therapist I think.
Edit: Waitwait, Ok so OKULTRA? Yeah, it’s a play on words for the government controlled secret psychedelic drug experimentation on humans in the 1950’s-80’s (correct me if I’m wrong) called MKULTRA before it was put to a stop. Obviously I don’t know exactly what they did but an obvious way to give the drugs to people would be to prescript them secretly in medical treatments, anti-depressant, (etc.) OKULTRA is mentioned a couple other times casually throughout the album including in the FIRST SONG where in the second half Will straight up throws in a very cheerful, “OKULTRA!” And judging from Will’s history with drugs, theming an entire song on how therapy sucks makes sense.
Honestly, this reply section made my respect and admiration for this masterpiece double
The subtitles think he's just *music*, it's incredible

Least complicated Will Wood song to sing.
Everyone’s talking about the tempo of the song or the complexity of the lyrics, but it no one going to talk about how good the piano part at the beginning is? Like if the whole song was some kind of boss monologue then the beginning would sound like the thing that plays when you step into the boss arena for the first time. I don’t know how to describe it, but it would be awesome if there was a whole song with the same vibe the piano part gives, or at least an extended version of the piano.
I learned the piano part, and it's so fun to just sit around and play it without doing the rest of the song. Just the same intro part over and over. It's incredible
He also does this stuff without reading sheet music
this is so true that piano melody is so good bro 😩
I started listening to this artist earlier and thought “This is what cryptids listen to.” I have since changed my theory. Cryptids is too tame and restrictive. This is the music skips would listen to.

Well he collapsed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome on the E.R. floor
Panic attacked, anaphylactic and ataxic
The way he spun his butterfly risked all six his phalanges
Roman candles at both ends in his synapses
And the method with which he recycled his humors
Trojan Horse'd his Blood-Brain Barrier and raised the LD-50, yes, yes
And through flight-or-fight revelation shame the Black Box Warrior
He skipped this town and headed straight down history
Shields himself from reason in a Kevlar baby-blue Tuxedo
Quilted from the finest fibers, flesh, and fiberglass, and flowers
His ego a mosquito, evil incarnate good incognito
Pops placebos for libido, screaming, "Bless the torpedoes"
For what? For what? For what it's worth
If it was going to kill you boy, it would have by now
For what? For what? For what it's worth
There's no more looking back, it's looking up or looking down
Well, he was wearing stolen rubber shoes and wrapped a poison ivy noose
Around his Lotus jugular when they came
Well, they found him with a map to every victim of his love
And a tattoo of a blue jay on his face
And they waited for his vital signs to lie and let a flatline cry
A hymn out in Hungarian Harmonic
But he cocked his noggin, through his stoma sang, "For auld lang syne"
"Happy birthday to the succulents, I'll die your hydroponics"
His rib cage was a hornet's nest, palpitations set the beat
His vagus nerve a turk's head knot, an axel hitch, a carrick bend
He wondered if Christ Consciousness would charge a cancellation fee
Auf wiedersehn, au revoir, he gripped his wits right by their ends

Will Wood and Lemon deamon are so stim
I interpret this song as a man or his peers reviewing how he died with lost frustration, guided by the therapist saying “did you die before your day?”, or should have died as demons and ghosts try to coerce him into insanity
I think "did you die before your day" ties into the previous line about Phineas Gage. He got a superheated railroad spike blasted through his frontal lobe and he survived as the rod immediately cauterized the hole it made through his head and went clean out the other side. His personality was completely destroyed, and he became a man completely devoid of the self he once held. A death/change of personality could be called dying before your day.

I wonder, can i go insane hearing to this song nonstop on loop everyday for a year?, that would be an interesting experiment!
I can honestly imagine the ER room and Will Wood being the "doctor" while talking to a young boy whose relationship with the criminal mafia guy on the examination is undetermined. Meanwhile, Will Wood is slowly starting to turn the ER room into an acid trip where he's slowly starting to magic trick off of the body, even having doubles playing the dead body like a piano and blowing off the tip of the head's own saxophone mouthpiece and warp the room to match what he is saying, from what he's observing, what he's been told, to what he is reading off of the doctor's notes.
During the monologue, he is personally addressing the kid through a chair while literally, PsychoAnalyzing interrogating the kid while chucking at him a ton of questions, pulling out a bunch of items, and writing down things incredibly quickly before ending up pulling out a mirror to his face which is now a mirror, before cheekily shrugging it off. Then comes the rest of the lyrics and the kid is now being treated like the previously mentioned dead body before the entire song ends with two Will Woods Neo Cortex falling (before, he just pointed up and down like Scout's default Baseball Taunt) and being pulled up by a rope like a creepy smiling doll being noosed across his neck before crashing into one Will Wood who poses for the camera with his arms outstretched, and a hop to be put on one foot with a smile across his face and the entire sequence animation ends.
Basically, very Looney Tunes tone with what is clearly a horrifying situation for anyone to watch or be subjected to. I would honestly imagine a lot of musicians like Will Wood to have a very Rod Serling role to their art, heck, I would love to be looked at as a Rod Serling figure in the rest of my work. Tally Hall and Bo Burnham come to mind as other Rod Serling figures to their music.

I'm happy to be able to study English with my favorite song ! 😆
Haha, it does kind of sound Nazi themed
Just giving you a heads up that even people who's native language is English have trouble grasping what is trying to be said in the song since a lot of it almost seems like random words strung together at certain points.
@@sardonicus1739 Thanks for your good advice.☺️
The song is about the toxic mental health stigmas of the world :)
@@sardonicus1739 I'm pretty sure atp it's either about the mental health system or health system in a whole
1:45 something about the way "palpitations set the beat" makes me get into it?? idk why it sounds so good but it does!
this is like lemon demon for people who are somehow even more mentally deranged

I am determined to learn all the words, if I can learn all the words to crazy food by joe hawley then I can do this too
Edit: I did it!!
same goal mate
good luck pal
I can actually sing the fast parts in Crazy Food but this song takes it to a whole other level.
if i can sing the entirety of the mind electric including the reversed half i can do this
This song just gave me an adrenaline shot
THIS FUCKS SEVERELY
this is what my thoughts sound like when i have a migraine
i actually made it to sing with him on 2x speed, i deserve a cookie
To the people who are trying to learn the monologue for whatever reason, check out the live in studio version of this song. The monologue is was clearer and it's spoken slower. I think it could help.
ok i LOVE that art you did for this video its so cool!!
Possible tip for keeping up with this:
|Could be circumstantial, as I have no way to test this|
Learn & keep up with 6up 5oh first, as both are fast paced with a lot going on but 6up 5oh isn't as lengthy.
Let me know if this helps 👍
[ I'm still tripping up on a phrase, as well as the monologue. This possibly circumstantial tip just helped me with keeping up with the rest. ]
New challenge.
Put this song on 2x speed and try not to shift into the back rooms keeping up with lyrics
i remember the time i did an entire school presentation about the MKultra because i found out this song was about it like five minutes prior
