Thanks for this post! Grateful for RUclips! My Older Brother knew Art Frias. Ask him to come over to the house so our Mom could see a Real Championship Belt. That's the Champ I'll always remember
I believe Mancini was the youngest son, and his parents were older when they had him. Mancini's older brother got killed very young. He was also a hell of a fighter. The same style as Mancini, balls to the wall...
Look how smooth Arguello looked here. Man I really really miss those days. Boxing was amazing back then! There was more action in this one round then any of Floyd Mayweather’s fights!
Both of these fighters were amazing for their time. Let’s face it, amazing for any time! Commenting on whether it was stopped too soon. Debatable,? But after being part of a boxing team I would say, it was stopped appropriately. Frias took the fight at late notice, and his stamina wasn’t as good as Mancini’s. He even got a got shot in that stunned Ray, but Ray recouped fast. Ray’s breathing was more controlled as well. Art was starting to feel it and fought the last portion of the fight with his mouth opened. He kept going though. I just don’t think it would have been wise to let the round finish. Not to mention, he wouldn’t of had enough time between rounds to get his wind back. Stop it now or see a devastating 2nd round KO by Ray. Like I said, great fighters, great fighting Era.
Los dos peleadores más parecidos en su estilo, empuje, físico, pegada, ritmo, etc, que yo haya visto jamás. Ganaba el que acertara los mejores golpes primero.
First watched this when I was a kid on live TV. When Frias got up with blood and snot running all down his face, I figured he wouldn't last much longer.
The referee Richard Greene: When you look at this fight, then the one where Dukk-Koo-Kim died, consider this: its because of the karma of stopping this one too soon...
A champion losing by stoppage in 1st round is suspect. Theres a 3 knockdown rule for a reason. Mike Weaver vs. Michael Doakes 1 Is more suspect in this regard....
My Father and i was at McDonald's on Beverly blvd just across Wilcox saw him eating as we ordered food Before leaving for Grant Rae park in Pico Rivera for my bronco league game
Talk about stupid. The Arguello fight was fabulous, Mancini very marketable, and since he KO'd the champion Frias in the 1st round, a very worthy opponent. Take your woke garbage and shove it up your azzz!
Half true, but let's examine another WBA, WBC guy: Mike Weaver...he surprised Larry Holmes and gave him the fight of his life ( so the caliber of his performance meant alot ) and fought John Tate for the vacant WBA version, came on late and KOed him in the 15th... While its true that boxing is political, you gotta recognize the value of losing a title bout while distinguishing yourself.
Arguello was a legend. Mancini was a beast. This video is a gem. Miss the Tim Ryan/Gil Clancy announcing duo. Nothing like it today.
Tim and Gil were a great team and had excellent rapport when calling fights.
Love Ray! A beloved fighter. And the ever classy Alex Arguello looking’ good in the audience there. Sharp dressed man!

Art Frias is a complete credit to the sport. What a classy individual.
Arguello looking dapper AF
Art has an all time great boxer nose
Great memories! Thanks for the upload!
They need to put this Art Frias interview before the fight on a loop to remind everybody about The USA and the country we have.
People will still cry about our "terrible government" , no one here knows how good they have it
@@USMC6199KR3W He didn't buy a house he got a mortgage theirs a difference
Tough to watch Richard Greene in there, knowing that--after refereeing Mancini's tragic win over Duk Koo Kim--he committed suicide.
Great fight
Mancini “The Good Son”...
Mancini’s parents look like his grandparents
He is 21 they both look in their 70's!
Fighting in WW2 and getting wounded can go that to you. Especially her worrying about him over there

Yeah a real Spanish Don
Mancini was so likeable.

I have yet to see someone who takes on a fight at the last minute be in good condition to last in a long fight.
Great fight 👏

Don’t know if Art is related to me. I doubt I’ll find out if he is or not that be cool if it is.

A anybody ever seen hard of a champion the Ray boom boom Mancini story Sylvester Stallone produced it it's pretty good
Great fight did that round seem long to anyone
Frias was a balls to the wall brawler.
Arturo Frias was a warrior and Mancini was the same great fight .
How come Frías never got a rematch
Cause he didn’t deserve it ‼️
He got destroyed by Ruben Munoz a few months later.
It's wasn't ray's fault that he killed duk koo kim it was the brutal match that ruined him
Frias a vampire ?
Alexis le pronostico...
Talk about privilege....6 month after he lost to alexis..wow.

Aaron Pryor would have beat the sheeeeet outta Ray no Boom Mancini
Absolutely..knock out Mancini..
Obliterate Mancini
Aaron was in a higher weight class than Mancini, so your point is what?
@@CY-1627 Hagler vs Pryor would've been a classic at a catch weight.
@@hammer44head Pryor fought Arguello twice and Arguello fought Mancini. I think Pryor and Mancini could've fought...
Arguello was MS-13
That's Crap
