Happy Saturday! If you follow me on IG instagram.com/makoccinos you probably know how much I rave about gouache! And that's why I wanted to show you 3 ways how you can use gouache in your artwork while talking about why I think you should really give it a try if you can!
Love u makoccino... I had learn so much from u. .. I was also having trouble with the gouche.. But after seeing your video.. I felt really happy.. Thanks
I started to draw with gouache a few months ago and I instantly fell in love with it. So many good ideas and techniques in this video, thank you! BTW sunsets are my favorite thing to draw as well. :D
Hi Mako! You are such an inspiration to me. When I was a bit younger, I used to draw a lot and people used to tell me that I could draw very well and I was very happy! But later, I don't know why, I just started ignoring art and started thinking it was boring. Now that I think about it, I feel like I kept thinking my art wasn't good enough and so I started hating my art and that made me distance from it. Then one day, me and my cousin decided to do some watercolor painting and I was not that interested but I decided to give it a shot anyways. So while digging through RUclips for some inspiration, I stumbled upon one of your videos! In all your videos, you explain the steps so simply and it's all so clear, and the end results are always so beautiful! So I tried one of the paintings, and it actually turned out quite well for my first time working with watercolors! That was the day I fell in love with watercolors. After this video, I now want to try out gouache as well! Later I started watching more of your videos and subbied as well. Now, I finally have found the kind of art I'm more into, painting! Rather than drawing and coloring. Just a while ago, I was preparing some sketches for a little piece of artwork I just wanted to make. I haven't created art in so long but I'm finally back and it's all thanks to you! Thank you so much Mako for being the amazing inspiration you are! ♥️ Love, a fellow subbie💕
Extremely useful video-thank you! I’ve just bought some gouache and am really excited about trying it. I’ve previously worked in oils, but don’t want to use them anymore because of sensitivity to the materials. Your beautiful demo showing the three methods was really helpful!
I'm a beginner and started painting with watercolor this month. I've just tried gouache yesterday and boi.. it's a really fun medium to use. I accidentally do oil painting effects with it before I surf youtube for tutorials lol
I bought white gouache and found it useful to cover up mistakes with watercolors. Thank you also for the suggestion of having two jars of water to clean brushes.
I’ve been thinking bout using oil painting or acrylic, but i bought watercolors already but still struggling between the two but now i think gouche is perfect
Thank you for this video. I bought a set of Artist Loft gouache paints from Michael's. I just wanted to try it out with my watercolors, so I didn't want to spend too much money.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. I have tubes of gouache lying around taunting me because I’ve been too afraid to try it out. Now...will I give it a go...? It’s almost 2am and right now, the answer is YES! Umm, come a sensible time? Probably back to fretting... Note to self - keep watching this video until my backbone grows!! 🥴👍🏻🏴💜
Caran D' Ache's pan set of artist gouache is excellent and re-wets very nicely with a creamy texture. Very portable and reasonably priced. The set includes one brush and a tube of white. The paints are surprisingly opaque.
Thank you for sharing these techniques! 💕 I struggled indeed a lot when I tried gouache on canvas, the colours were always getting mixed in a weird way. Paper absorbs the colours so it's easier to control :D
Awesome,I love gouache, matter of fact I take my watercolors and mix it with the white it's in the watercolors tube style and create my own gouache and it's just right for me.🤗
Thank you soooo much Mako for this amazing video!!! All my exams are over and now I can paint all day long!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ You are my biggest inspiration for painting...I love following your tutorials!! Love you lots!!!!
And i always thought that using gouche like watercolor was stupid of me and that i didn't exactly know how to use gouche. But now after watching your video i feel good. 😌
Cool overview Mako. I love that painting at the end of the video. I have just ordered some gouache paint & Canson watercolour paper so I'm gonna give it a try. Happy painting :-)
I never tried watercolors but I have started since few years by watching your videos and I think I should also start to try gouache colors. Thank you for the video😘😊
Hi. Thank you for all your reviews. They are very helpful and informative. I also love your art so much, your painting process as well. Thank you for sharing!
thank you so much for your gradient examples. i am surprised that i like the abstract way. the colors are so strong and bright - I love it and paint one abstract gradient after another. Greetings from Germany ❤️
This was incredibly helpful! Could you make more videos on the first two techniques but more detailed? I haven't been able to get a hang of the medium because it dries too fast and I am not getting the look I want.
I've never gotten into painting before. But when I make enough money I really want to buy myself a little set and give it a try. Bob Ross inspires me to want to venture into oil painting, and you inspire me to try watercolors. I find your personality absolutely adorable and endearing, and I love your voice. I watch your videos whenever I'm stressed and whenever I have trouble sleeping. You've really helped me get through some tough times. So thank you for doing what you do and thank you for all the knowledge and creativity you spread. You're doing things you love and you're doing them really well. Prayers and love from my little corner of the world, Mako. 💜💞
I feel like when you're starting out with a new medium that you're not used to, there are going to be quite a few failures before you adapt to it. That's why I'm always scared to try new things, I don't like that process even if it's necessary 😂
I used to have gouache a long time ago and this was when I didnt see any gouache videos or tutorials on how to search them. Himi/Miya Gouache was also not a thing yet, so I had a pretty hard time learning how to use them-
recently realized that's 'watercolor' I've been using is gouache. following your step-by-step watercoloring it's very relaxing and a bit frustrating sometimes. so many trials and errors to finally understand why is my watercolor dry so quickly by simply read the tubes. GOUACHE. i bought a cheap watercolor (written on the box) set made in taiwan under 10$ for 24 colors. that's why it isn't working at all haha. thanks mako! (I'm sorry if it's hard to understand what's I'm trying to say, english isn't my first languages)
Oh no! That's why I stay away from art supplies that offer you 100 colors for cheap 😂 I wasted so much money this way that I could have just invested in good quality art supplies I could have used for years and actually enjoyed the painting and the learning process 🙈
Hi mako and everybody. I love ur art and u introduced me 2 watercolors and now fir gouashe, i wanted to thanks u. Can u also try painting a willow tree with watercolors?plz❤
I love your videos, could you maybe do a review of the Miya himi gouache set, they are like jelly gouache and look really cool and aesthetic. That would be really cool, I love watching your videos PLS NEVER STOP!
Oooh okay, it's just my art teacher made us use it in school but she would never allow us to add so much water and I didn't like the paint consistency very much as it was! I had no idea you could use it like this
I started drawing when I was a 5 year old that too Pokémon inspired me to become an artist. But it's been 8 years since I stopped drawing due to studies. But your videos provoked me to get my hands on paints & brushes again. Thank you.

How can we recognise a good quality gouache???
Small question here: can you reuse gouache when it had dried on the palette (like watercolor)?
Christina Sweety yes but still you should avoid it because texture changes a little
Nice vid

Awww
I really like gouache but whenever I try to use it I never know what to paint
You could try the sky & landscape you see from your windows. :D Nature's always a great inspiration.

Great to watch your technic for Gouache pigments !

I love gouache so much....helps me do quick painting... Everyday after day job..to keep my daily dopamine in brain going
I bought white gouache and found it useful to cover up mistakes with watercolors. Thank you also for the suggestion of having two jars of water to clean brushes.
Can you paint traditional gouache on animation cels and film frames?
your video always very informative! thank you I will try gouache now!
The first one looks like a digital painting. The second one looks like my watercolor painting. And the third one looks like you watercolor painting.
would love if you reviewed the himi gouache palette!!!
Well, time to try them. The flat color looks absolutely stunning
This was helpful! Thank you!

Hi, i wanna know what adhesive tape you used for your border? 😅 just curious because the regular tape i use ruins the paper. Tnx 😊
Cool overview Mako. I love that painting at the end of the video. I have just ordered some gouache paint & Canson watercolour paper so I'm gonna give it a try. Happy painting :-)

Wow! The way you show the pastime is so easy to see and it makes me want to. Thank you for showing me the good video.🤗👍
This was incredibly helpful! Could you make more videos on the first two techniques but more detailed? I haven't been able to get a hang of the medium because it dries too fast and I am not getting the look I want.
I'm learning watercolour, but I really want to learn gouache. You make it look like so much fun!
I like to change my art medium from time to time so I don't get bored and can enjoy the different paints in their own unique way!
Amazing vid.... Love ya mako..... #makoficationsquad
Will you make another fall watercolor painting?
How can it be so niceee😍

Yess first viewer and liked the video first 😺
And this video is too helpful thanks
Gouache is so satisfying to watch😊♥️
Just got gouache, imma try it out
Update: it was a complete failure.
Oh no what went wrong? 🙈
@@Makoccino I'm currently asking myself that question, I'll tell ya when I find it out

I used to paint watercolor and work in layers. I probably used too much water for gouache, and previous layer of gouache lifted
I used to have gouache a long time ago and this was when I didnt see any gouache videos or tutorials on how to search them. Himi/Miya Gouache was also not a thing yet, so I had a pretty hard time learning how to use them-

Yayy! So happy to hear that!
@@Makoccino i love the opacity that i got with this medium and at the same time I can use this just like acrylic or oil. I love this medium now ❤️
Pls do something with poster colors. Some pieces and techniques like this can be really helpful
Great video. I'm officially excited to use mine now. 😊
So crazy, I can’t pick a favourite sunset picture 😍
Thank you so much for your art vids they are so helpful!
Im seriously buying gouache next year when i can afford it...this looks so amazing and fun

Lots of love from Pakistan
You can try these techniques with it as well!
Could you also make a video on acrylic gouache? Maybe student grade? That's the only gouache my art store stocks!
Acrylic gouache is pretty much the same it just dries and can't be reactivated! It's like acrylic in matte 😂
Oooh okay, it's just my art teacher made us use it in school but she would never allow us to add so much water and I didn't like the paint consistency very much as it was! I had no idea you could use it like this
can we use normal paper? amazing art btww ❤️
Can you make a video of acrylic gouache? I want to know about it more before getting it.
acrylic gouache is pretty much the same, it's just dries like acrylic but matte!
Hi @makoccino, just wanted to know that is it alright if I use 200 gsm of watercolour paper for gouache painting?
I started drawing when I was a 5 year old that too Pokémon inspired me to become an artist. But it's been 8 years since I stopped drawing due to studies. But your videos provoked me to get my hands on paints & brushes again. Thank you.
