This video is literally a God send. Earlier today I was drawing Ironman and was wondering how the heck do I shade this, maybe Jazza has a video on shading metal, and look what we have here! Thank you, dude!
I thought this was perfect too. Then i saw this is a digital shading video. Annoying.
OG
Is it just me, or does this robot look like Wall-E and EVA's son? :D
yeah that is true. wall-e was definitely a huge influence :D
Just a typo dude

Your videos are so helpful, the way go step by step and explain things clearly is awesome. I'm sure your tutorials have helped thousands of people out as they have helped me.
I found this post from a master list on tumblr, and when I saw this was from you I screamed, "JAZZA! IT'S A JAZZA TUTORIAL!"
i really love how this turned out jazza. it looks amazing!!!
nice Lineart ;)
TrueThunderCraft thank you :)
Love this tutorial - metal or any reflective surface is difficult to pull off - thanks for breaking it down!!
hey i saw you in a different comment section saying the exact same thing about a different topic Ō-ō
This was a brilliant tutorial. Rarely have I been this interested throughout such a long video. You are both a good artist and a teacher. Keep up the great work! Much love from Bangladesh.
Thanks Jazza! This was a great tutorial! This is going to help me out with more than just metallic reflective surfaces.
Kudos to Illustration Overdose for an awesome pic to work on :)
thank you :D
Whenever I feel down cus my drawings are bad, watching your videos sooth me.
Thanks.
***** Yeah, my bad :P
Very nice, 6 years later and the tutorial still holds up! :D
You guys want to know a quick and easy way to help support your favorite youtubers? Just click on the ads that show before and during the video and then exit the page that pops up... youtubers get paid not only for views of the ads but for the clicks as well :) I support Jazza, I click the ads
Thanks for the tip!
You're giving somebody money without spending your own money. AND I LIKE IT.
Hey man. Very helpful tutorial! I can never get the idea of metal shading. This video really ironed it out. No pun intended
I watched all 30 minutes of it without skipping. That is the first tutorial video ever I don't skip a single second.
Good stuff Jazza. Love your work!
You have ADD
Jazza just like your character design video, you should do a creature design video.
How to draw wet surfases?
Mostly the rules are same but here is a diffrence that wet sufaces refract or distort the object a little on transparent liquids and opaque ones like mercury are the same while oil and honey have a slight filter like appearece and glow in presence of a strong light source like the sun and a strong torchlight
Little guy reminds me of Short Circuit robot Johnny 5. I suck at metal but this is brilliant.
This vidio helped me much. That coloring thing especially. Makes life as an wanna be artist much easier. Thanks!
Jazza, I have a great idea for a video that will help me and many others, you should do a video on how to make animations that are at the best quality (Not Rubbish drawings or animation) BUT are quick to make (like 1 to 2 weeks each).
This would help us greatly because many of us either rush our animations sacrificing quality or take months doing a high quality 4 minute animation.
Thanks
With the quickness. This is so cool to watch.
Amazing I learned a lot about shades types .. Thank you so much
Thank you! this is one the things I strugle the most. Love when you do photoshop tutorials, its much more rich and neat. Can you try to do some carbon fiberish look tutorial? :D nice job.
Hey Jazza, this video seems to have realy low bitrate, even at 720
or is it still processing?
Sadly it does have a lower quality, I couldn't seem to get it to work in my favor and gave up :(
Draw with Jazza
An tips to make it on paper with metals?
This is an amazing tutorial! Thanks for sharing it! :D
hi, speaking from the future here, damnyour recording look like if you were in a horror movie
Thank you for this tutorial! I've been struggling with metal surfaces, this makes it a lot easier.
BEST Metal shading tutorial ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robo's right arm (our left) seems like it should receive more light, but it has a very dark shadow. It doesn't seem to have anything covering it.
Awsome tutorial Jazza! Lengthy one but it's all good! Maybe next one you can do about texturing different materials
Oh my god this was amazing. I've been feeling very inspired and just got Photoshop so you can see how those contrast and now this was helpful :D
first time i watched this, like 6 months ago, i didnt get it, watched it second time, and i finaly got metal right. thanks again jazza
Go Jazza. thanks for making this tutorial available
nice tutorial jazza, can you make a similar one but for ice
This helped a lot with my recent xenomorph drawing, thanks! :D
watches old Jazza video. watches new Jazza video. Is this even the same person???
This is my first Jazza video. How'd he change?
Would it make any difference if it's still metal but not as reflective?
Not really you could still pass it of as metal but the reflections make it look better.
Nice video! I do mostly traditional mediums but these videos have great carryover to that.
Thank you, Jazza.
Time to use this knowledge into practice! *-*
Jazza to the rescue!!!
Great tut, but I think you made error in the reflection of horizon. If the sphere is below horizon, the reflection should curve upwards, and if above, curve downwards. Google image search for reflecting spheres.
This was really helpful, thanks Jazza
Your videos are awesome and VERY educational. Thanks a lot for making these video tutorials. I immediately subscribed. :)
24:00 exlammation mark !, so cool!

Great video! This was very helpful!
Thanks for uploading! I liked it!
How do you make those lines when you have to make a skeleton and stuff.. They're still smooth like a brush, but "tiny", mine are big ugly ones that you can't even use when you have to make the final part.
The rolling things could fairly be called treads.
Nice tutorial, thanks!
thanks man blessings good vibes
So glad you explained the lens shadow! Lol
Great job both of you!
thanks
this is very awesome jazza. why do they not teach this in classes i pay for in uni? haha.
Jazza kind sir do you draw on a tablet with a stylus or with a computer and mouse, I really enjoy the way you draw and I just want to know cause I one day to be a successful artist like you
anwar alawy He does it with a stylus and tablet, this stuff would take days if he were to try and do it with a mouse.
Great video. Can you do one like this in Flash or Illustrator? Vector baby!

Artifical
Why don't you draw ember spirit from dota?
How would you do it with Copic markers
Metal! Awesome :D
How about fire? Like this comment if you agree :D
Ya i think a fire tutorial would be cool.

Why does he look too happy in the webcam lol
as you would in Adobe Flash??? Ayuda
Nice tutorial, Jazza - I wasn't convinced 'till the end where you add colour, it really makes a difference. I used this for a study and added to it, using colours for the shadows, highlights and environment from the start, but it's probably easier to start monochrome and build up the colour later on.

What’s the name of the song, when you start to color the robot?
cool
genius
whats the name of the soundtrack in this video.
is this applicable to adobe animate?
YAY! :D
Can I draw pictures like this with the mouse? I don't have a tablet and it's to expensive for me.
Sorry , but no ... use paper and pencil , it's good start .
I have been drawing with a mouse, for years! You get used it. But, a drawing tab is much easier, and faster. You can find some for around 70 to a hundred at frys electronics, or best buy! I would recommend getting one.
Just draw on paper and scan into an art program (like photoshop). It'll help remove some of the need for a tablet.
WurstschneideBrot I draw with a mousepad ^^ My avatar was drawn on the computer using normal paint found on any Windows computer and a mousepad. It all really depends on preference. I've had a tablet before, and I didn't really like it. It made things harder for me. The pen was over sensitive, the tablet screen itself was too small (as I had a 3x4, which is the smallest size), and over all, I found that it was harder for me to get where I needed to be and to draw things correctly. I prefer using a mouse (or as I have a laptop, mousepad) because it's easier and more natural to me. If you are able to try a tablet, see how it works for you. You may like a mouse better, or the tablet better. Then whichever you prefer, practice with that tool. Also, as for it being too expensive, try online sites like Amazon or Ebay and buy one that was used. They should be considerably cheaper. If you can't buy it online, save up and buy it in stores, or if you still live with your parents, ask them to get one for you for like your birthday or something. And if you just absolutely cannot get one, Chase Finch is right, scanning helps. You can buy a personal, handheld scanner for 19.98 plus shipping on Amazon (the cheapest I saw last I checked). And though it's a lot of work, you can also take a picture of your drawing, send it to your email or just upload to your computer, then use like Gimp or another similar program to trace over it in a new layer, delete the background, and work from there. Like I said, this way is a lot of work, but it is doable. I haven't yet got myself a scanner and this technique works just fine.
I Practiced and Drew alot, still can't draw hands.
