I think you can't underprice art because money has no real value in the world where real art has relevance. If there is love for a work of art that work of art is paid in full. Money is worthless, so even taking millions and millions for good art is underpricing art. Art takes passion and a good sense of life. @@dritter7051 well that depends if you want a cover that wraps around or not (I actually prefer these because they make it feel more cohesive) but I have to say, that if the 285$ and 100$ were indeed intended to cover both the front and the back of a book, then the characters were not well placed. So yeah for what it is supposed to be I think the 150$ is the best one

A lot of drawn children's books are landscape (like said before) but typically when doing commission work you either have to stick with the material provided, ask the commissioner or provide multiple options for the clientele to select from. Because Jazza commissioned using a landscape drawing as the material, it was expected a landscape drawing would be recieved in return.
He should have kept the dimensions regardless. You can't just assume what the dimensions are, especially after receiving a source material to work with.

Damn as someone who 3d models and is learning digital painting I cant get over how bad the 285 one is.The robots a generic 3D model with some pathetic paint over (left arm lazor, the head bits ok) the volcano is utterly pathetic, the buildings are either a photo or 3D model, the cars either a 3d model, a quick paint over, or a photo distorted, the sky is a photo thats been so pathetically painted over (alot of lines are literally on top of the building, he didnt even rub them out, so that probably means the buildings are a photograph joined with the sky) The character looks vastly different to the style of the robot, almost like a rubbery plastic figure. Would not be surprised if its just a quick paint over too. On second glance, the hair is definitely painted over. looks like he added a moderate amount of paint on top of a pre-existing character and gaussian blurred it. The smoke on the volcano is a cut out, the lines on our right are so sharp. God what a total mess. the 25 dollar one has way more passion and merit.
Jared M exactly they definitely FLOPPED in the background, I’m not even a digital artist...and the lack of effort and care put into the background kind of disgusts me.
The cheaper priced (but obviously higher quality) ones were definitely better. The 25 and 150 one put in a massive amount of effort hand painting everything. The 100 was okay but definitely cut corners like he said using photo elements. That top priced one was seriously just generic 3D models overpainted and a s**t ton of blur effects. Very lack luster and honesty I think that's what Jezza probably wanted to say but didn't want to be negative of another's art as he is a nice bloke like that.

A lot of artists need to have better business sense. If you're working $25 for several hours, you're making below minimum wage for something that is a valuable talent that most people cannot do. $20-40 is a good hourly rate for his level of skill.
@@ghostphoto1789 What is especially frustrating about this is that it devalues the industry and everyone's work as a whole. If you set a precedent for undercharging, it's what people will expect to pay.

$100 and $150 were truly amazing, but I have to go with the $150 one considering you said its a book cover and they went out of their way to size it to a book cover, even though your sketch was longer.
I had thr same thought, it was the only one that considered the book cover aspect of the commission. The others wouldn't actually make ideal covers even with the quality of work.
The proportions being correct is an important part of the product asked for. Of course, not all books have the "standard" proportions and I don't remember Jazza specifying, so we shouldn't be *too* hard on the other artists for that.
@@wolfmatic399 True, but he should also have specified. If I was his artist, I would have asked a clarification question, or defaulted to the "traditional" ratio. Let's be clear: if Jazza had actually wanted a book cover, not specifying the proper ratio was his fault. Since he was really just wanting to see what quality of art he could get, the ratio doesn't matter as much and we get to have a fun discussion about whether it's actually a problem or not.
My favorites are the $25 and the $150 pieces. I think the $25 piece was best for your money but the $150 artist should get bonus points for being the only artist to do it in the portrait orientation which is the correct orientation for a book cover.
It actually isn't though, you'd need a front and back side and the cover should wrap around the book. So a horizontal orientation would make the most sense (I think).

Maybe not $250. I know that 25 isn't a lot, and I'd gladly pay up to $90, but there are a few places where lines were a bit sloppy, and it looked slightly unfinished for something that would theoretically be on a book. The final two scenes were much better in scale and detail, though the final one needs to be improved in certain areas.
Honestly I'm someone that prefers a heavily stylized look over a photo-realistic rendering or a more traditional style/look. Hate to go around promoting other people on Jazza's channel, but Vivziepop and similar are def my cup of tea: ruclips.net/video/ZWrM-eDxTas/видео.html I went and commissioned her some years back, $300 for a two character piece. That 'book cover' piece for $25? Considering it's for commercial use I'd be paying $200 PLUS royalties minimum.
Also to note, apparently it was mostly "stolen", as seen from another comment who showed the original robot design. Which probably means everything in it was taken and modified from somewhere else.
I don't understand what exactly do you even mean.. Pretty sure higher the price better it gets lol... Also don't forget which exactly there are tons ways to draw and make art... Its funny people don't get it, realistic art whet ever fan art or any is the hardest.. NOT to mention.. How you plan on courting if all those take forever to plan out and draw YES THE CONCEPT NOT THE COLOURING.. i still think the third one was actually the best. Remember you asked for a book cover, which is extremely likely to be portrait whereas the others are all landscape.

No it isn't. Just because you feel they should have charged more doesn't mean they feel they should. People overcharge on art so ridiculously often, and I'm saying that as someone who does art.
That's exploitation, lad. You do something amazing, someone gets thousands of dollars, you get enough for a meal and it is fair and legal and we all are alright about it.
considering the amount of motivation it takes to even draw, let alone consistently improve and hone those skills. Every penny spent on art is worth it. At least, what else would one spend that cash on? (after base needs of course, never spend money needed for food and living on art lol) Also even for 100 dollar they clearly put in a lot of work. A lot of artists would charge more for two characters.

Yeah I think so too. The quality was really good. I personally don't have enough money to just buy a 100+ drawing so I really like how well the 25 one turned out.
It's the same for my Headphones for example.
My price limit was about 150 euros. The Sound is good. Obviously 500 euro Headphones have this super detailed sound, but is that really worth the extra 350 euros? I think quality in relation to price is what I really like about the 25 Drawing.

I think you can't underprice art because money has no real value in the world where real art has relevance. If there is love for a work of art that work of art is paid in full. Money is worthless, so even taking millions and millions for good art is underpricing art. Art takes passion and a good sense of life.
Money means nothing and has no real value but the ability to make art is essential to the real human being.
Is there a greater act of art than revolution? A greater act of revolution than art?
As you might be able to tell, i'm personally sick of moneys dragging humanity down.

To the person who did the $25 artwork - up your prices! Good job!
I was thinking the same thing! They're very skilled and definitely selling themselves rather short there!
A lot of artists need to have better business sense. If you're working $25 for several hours, you're making below minimum wage for something that is a valuable talent that most people cannot do. $20-40 is a good hourly rate for his level of skill.

The proportions being correct is an important part of the product asked for. Of course, not all books have the "standard" proportions and I don't remember Jazza specifying, so we shouldn't be *too* hard on the other artists for that.
People could have thought it was a children's books so they made it wonder that it was tall
He could have wanted a wraparound cover, his sketch implies that.

It should go up to like 75-100!
@@zacharybowman8950 thank you :)
Drawphics by Sarah you’re the person? If so when you draw pictures could you do like speed draws on your channel?
No offense but I think $20 to $30 for that is fine. The $100 one set the bar way too high got its price so I wouldn't consider the 25 one to be 75 to 100.
@@rylaicrestfall2500 $100 did photobash which is like overlaying different pictures so the artist already has the form laid out. $25 i feel like the artist really needs money and attention for their art. Most likely a new freelance artist. Trust me, the bar really is high on this field so i understand the lowballer artist where he/ she's coming from.
Wait you mean you didn’t ask freelance artists to do their work for free in exchange for ExPosURe?? What a legend 👏
Some people were very confused by that comment😂
in fact he payed in both, money and exposure, a mad lad
Aitor Rosell a true crazy fellow
Don't be afraid of exposure, beat those scumbags with one simple website! www.paywithexposure.com
Oml I almost snorted at this 😂
the $100 and the video ideas were by far the best
Ikr I love the $100 drawing
Yeah, it was definitely my favorite.👌
Agreed
$25 was :O
IM IN LOVE WITH THEIR ARTWORK!
ALSO $100 was cool too!!!
but really $25 stole my heart
