If you're looking to get one of these, here's my affiliate link to Revzilla. I think I spelled it wrong in the video...oh well :) www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-neotec-2-helmet
Can you claim tax back in the US if you're using your riding gear for work?? definitely a nice helmet though 👍👍👍🇬🇧
I’m going to get the identical helmet, but in blue, as soon as my favorite store receives the helmets they ordered.
Apparently there is a supply problem caused by Shoei in Japan due to COVID-19.
That was my store’s excuse for not having an adequate stock of Shoei helmets.
Legend has it he now sleeps with the helmet on cause there's no reason to take it off
sure do!

😂
One can never be too careful in bed, because statistically most people die there.
Nah! It was so he could keep jumping in his bed! 😉🤣
Meteorite strike.
You forgot one of the best features of modular helmets: being able to sneeze without getting a face full of boogers 😂

Ha,ha
Allergy sufferer here - I wear an LS2 Valliant flipover (the chin rotates full 180 to the back of the helmet) - it makes dealing with a running nose so much more easier.
Nice reason to add....Modular it is
I love my modular helmet. That's all I bought ever since I started riding. Of course, it's nice with a Bluetooth also
I got the Shoei Neotech 2 modular a few months ago. Pricey but WORTH it!!! Went from a half shell to 3/4 to modular because I feel claustrophobic in a full face. I love having all the features you mentioned. Awesome helmet 👏👏👏
I love it!!

First bro let me say that I can tell the effect that your time off has had, absolutely great to see how happy you seem to be through the screen lately.
Second I can’t agree more with the different helmets for different purposes argument, yes the full face is for track but cruising and teaching, modular cannot be beat. FortNine did a great video of best modular helmets in 2018, may have updated it by now but the principle remains the same. Utility, safety, comfort, and like you I can tell the different between 3 lbs 5 ounces and 3 lbs 15 but I don’t notice the difference once it’s on my melon. Cheers
:) love it

Just bought one myself (Neotec 2). It fits me very well and I love the quality and the relative quiet to my old one (a 10 year old Shark Evoline). I got a superb deal on it and I am very happy. Ready to test it out thoroughly. My old hlemet was a size too small and really hurt my head after even a short ride. This will improve my comfort as well as extreme road noise. I have struggled with wind noise when I do videos on my bike and I'm hoping this will vastly reduce that aspect.
I've bought the Neotech 2 as well, in white too! Got this for about 4 months. Comfortable AF, very useful. It feels quite heavier than a full face one, but Shoei has a good weight 'repartition' if I can tell. Got da smoked screen as well to give some extra power when riding. Cheers
Great video!! I love my neotec 2 so much, I bought two more! A different color for each bike! Modular is really the way to go, IMHO. Easy to snack and drink water while fueling up, blow your nose, etc. It is comfortable and quiet (when my comm is off). Best part is the quick release! Thanks for the video! Keep on keeping safe!
:)
I love my modular especially with the drop down sun shade. Life changing when it’s hot it South Georgia I always ride with the chin bar down but at slow speeds I open the visor and drop the sun shade to get more air. They are 😎 awesome!
I have had my Neotec 2 for almost 3 years now and very happy. Quieter than most at highway speeds. I added the Sena Bluetooth for it about a year ago and it works well, too. I know it is a heavier than average helmet, but I have had no weight issues even after 5-7 hours of riding. Excellent review, Greg!
thanks :)

I needed a 5XL and went with an HJC IS Max 2 modular about two years ago. Modular works better for me as well for daily use. Just more convenient. I wish you many years of healthy use from your new lid.
got a Shoei Neotech 2 as well, glossy black... perfect for road trips, when i have to stop and ask locals for directions... great ventilation too on sunny days, by lifting up the clear visor and having the sunvisor down... and no need to take off the helmet for making a phone call, just lift up the front to insert the mobile phone between the padding and your ear
I’ve just bought a HJC RPHA 90 for all the reasons you mentioned and it’s easy to add a communication device as I’m doing my IAM (institute of advanced motorcyclists) here in the U.K.
You where the major influence for me to take advanced training and F me. I’ve learnt so much from you and taking these advanced lessons. my riding had improved so much because of you both.
My instructor or observer as they are called here in the U.K. said my slow speed stuff is the best he has ever seen, even better than his.
I showed him your app today and he was like. That shit looks cool, I will get this and use it for my other students.
PS. I still have to convince him about trail braking though.
awesome!!

Purchased all street gear myself, and for my wife, and I too got a modular helmet! Currently I'm not a bike owner but when I rent a bike for a week its nice being able to feel comfortable and protected 😌

Can't agree more with you. I have this helmet for years (not sure if version 1 or 2), but yellow and black, and I can't imagine having anything else on my head. It's so great while waiting on the traffic lights to lift it up, on the petrol station, while drinking, talking etc.
I had few helmets on my head, and I don't see that weight make any difference to me. You seem to be busy
I have used modular helmets since the late 1980's when I saw European Olympic luge, 2 & 4 man bobsled racers used them. I figured if they were good enough for them they were good enough for me. First a BMW System 1, then Nolan N100 then Schuberth C-3 Pro and E1. I still wear sunglasses and additionaly use the internal sun visor when riding into the sun. Works quite well.
I've had one of those for the past 20 months or so, and I absolutely love it. It makes riding with glasses a whole lot easier!
Totally agree!

I've had this helmet for about a year now. I love it. I was getting a pressure point on my forehead for a little while when it was newer but now it seems fine. I can wear it for hours and never get tired of it. Sometimes I'll ride with the visor up and the sunglasses down. Sound suppression is great also.
:)
Great video! We here at Viking Bags really appreciate your content! Keep up the nice work!
thanks

What a coincidence; I took a break from prepping for an inaugural ride on my new bike, and I decided to check for your latest video. As it so happens, I'll be wearing my first modular helmet today. I bought an AGV and the features are similar to your, except that it's black but with reflective material designed into the back. I got it for all the pluses that you mention. I wear eyeglasses, so the drop down shade with be a boon. Looks good.
nice!

Greg our SSNB courses are comprised of a Thursday night classroom with old videos from MSF. Friday night on the pavement, get the students into first gear. Saturday all day and Sunday morning are lessons. Sunday afternoon is practice then we do the riding tests. Once a student passes the tests, he or she goes and does the written and eye tests for a Graduated license with four restrictions. A year later they can do a road test for a full license. Courses every weekend from end of April to early October. I teach about five courses a season.
Gotcha :)
Now I'm training for my 'Masters' in the UK - and, like you, I've just bought my first modular helmet. You look very cute in yours!
I had the Neotec 1 for years and I replaced it with the Neotec 2. They fit me perfectly, they’re high quality and comfortable for hours. I too like all of the conveniences you stated. I can have a drink, a conversation or just raise it for more air here in the southeast where it gets a little too warm and humid at times.
I love mine :) Consider supporting the channel if you enjoy my content www.patreon.com/motojitsu
Nice, i actually never thought about the practicality side of things.
it's great, for me anyway
MotoJitsu.com for my updated app, books, merch, affiliate links, etc.
Another nice thing about shoei is you can get thicker liners for about $100. I too have the medium neotec2 and after a year or so padding compressed a bit. I ordered thicker new liner and it made a difference. I too have a full face for the track but it is a size smaller. I find helmet needs to be extra snug on the track. Thanks for video Greg.
Yes about every year, when I had previous Shoeis, I would get all new insides :)
I've had this exact helmet for six months and love it. It's even in white too. Like you I tried the Schuberth C3 and C4 but this felt the best to me. It's worth noting that the Schuberth is designed for a more round head shape and the Shoei is designed for a more oval head. So which one is most comfortable will depend on head shape. It's very quiet (note: it whistles if you don't fully close the visory, which you have to close and then just snap it down fully - no whistle then). I love the easy release ratchet on the strap, the pinlock is fantastic even in cold and wet British weather, and the sun visor is great. I've used the visor a lot and on hot days I leave the clear visor up and the sun visor down to get more airflow. But the airflow is also very string on this helmet. I really can't fault it. I don't tend to ride with the face up but I believe it has actually been certified for use this way too. at least here in Europe.
At the shop I bought mine from they changed the headlining and cheek pads for thicker ones, for free, to get an absolutely perfect fit. It felt too tight to start with. But after a few days it became superbly comfortable. There is also an optional Sena SRL bluetooth comms system which fits into the helmet.
As a final bonus it means putting glasses on and off is much easier.
Nice! :)
MotoJitsu.com for my app, books, merch, etc. :)
I just picked up the same helmet for many of the same reasons. The fit and function are excellent. The airflow is outstanding through the massive vents.
yes!
I have an HJC modular helmet, it's easier to use with glasses. Also you don't have to switch to sunglasses anymore. Love it!
I bought a HJC IS max 2 last year, and love it! I don't think I'd ever go back from modular now. Fitted a Sena SMH5-FM headset into it last week so it's perfect now 👌🏻
Love mine...perfect for what I do...I have other other 2 helmets for dirt & track.
MotoJitsu.com for my app, books, merch, etc.
I have been rockin' this helmet for about a year now and it is just fantastic! Not quite the chin protection of a non-modular but unparalleled comfort, quality, utility and looks... price of entry is steep though but worth it!
:)
Thanks buddy, I’ve just bought one and already it’s so much more convenient. I also wear prescription glasses when riding and they are so much easier to put on now with this helmet. I fully endorse your choice.
thinking of getting a modular helmet because of my prescription glasses. what model/brand did you go for?
Just bought a new Shoei too! It has that New Helmet smell. Just as good as New Car smell :)
YES
Got several helmets Arai, Schuberth Shoei and I always seem to pick up the Schuberth when going out for a ride. To be able to lift the bottom up at times is so convenient and is also cool in both senses. Arai make a great thing about how well their helmets are made but Shoei is comparable but also make a Modular helmet. Come Arai its not only racers that need helmets. Great short video thanks.
Welcome! Consider sharing the video with others!! Check out MotoJitsu.com for my new app, books, merch, affiliate links, etc.
I wear a Neotec II when driving the Wing. I much prefer it over my original HJC full face. It's a bit heavier, but the fact that I can (legally) ride open face in slow traffic, or with the shield up and sun visor down, etc. gives me lots of options on a any combination of a hot/cold, wet/dry, bright/overcast day.
Initially, I installed the integrated Sena SRL2, with less than happy results. Wind noise seemed too high and I had to be pretty aggressive on volume to hear anything. A CarPlay phone call at 60 MPH was not happening. When Sena came out with the newer SRL-MESH, I immediately swapped it and wow! What a difference. The SRL-MESH has Harman Kardon speakers and better active noise control. Also, the HK speakers are 3mm thicker than the originals. So they sit a bit closer to the ears, filling that swirling air cavity just outside my ears. This also contributes to better overall wind noise reduction.
Hey kid; how does it sleep? I like the drop sun visor for "eye protection" under 50 mph. Cocking the glass for ventilation always messes with my vision.
Welcome to the world of modular helmets! I understand for some people having 3 different types, plus 3 different types of gear can be expensive. I’ve also got and had the 3 different types for nearly 30 years and they are all great and “fit for purpose”. However, if you’re not planning on dirt bikes or track days then the convenience of a modular is great. Is it as safe as a complete full face? No. They never will be. However, if you are just casually riding on the street and getting on and off your bike then they are great. I also don’t use the transition drop down sunglass replacement for the same reasons as mentioned in this. Great work. 👍😎🇦🇺
Thanks..yes...3 sets of gear pretty much...street, track, dirt...had to save up a while to be able to get all of it, but it's all good now :)

@@MotoJitsu Cheers.
I got a modular Nolan n100-5 as my first helmet and after less than a year, I found that I really dislike the extendable sun visor and prefer to use a smoked outer visor, unless it's getting dark. Also, I almost never even open the face up without taking the entire thing off a few seconds later and I'm already looking to switch to an integral one that would be lighter and less bulky.
I am using Neotec 1st gen. Because I wear glasses. Very comfortable and shoei custom fitting too.
I started with a Multitec and now I have a Neotec. Modular is very convenient.
I ride Schuberth’s modular E1. It’s been great for many of the reasons mentioned below plus it came with the pin lock insert included. Ready for a new lid and was ready to buy Arai XD4. Almost pulled the trigger this morning, in fact. Now I’m conflicted. Thanks a lot!
welcome!
MotoJitsu.com for my app, books, etc.
Nice lid ! Looks just like. my Schuberth, which I’ve had for about 3 years now, it has similar features, flip down sun shade, ratchet chin strap etc. I like white too, apart from the hi-vis aspect, they are much cooler in the sunshine, especially if you are forced to be stationary for long, and in that case, you can also flip the chin up.
Modular helmets are usually quieter too, as they fit more snugly around the neck when closed.
I love it! Consider sharing it!! Check out MotoJitsu.com for my new app, books, merch, affiliate links, etc.

Thought that helmet looked familiar! I love my Neotec II. I also got the custom Sena Bluetooth unit that goes with it, too.
:) MotoJitsu.com for my updated app, books, merch, affiliate links, etc.
Hi Annielfc, I also bought the exact helmet for the purpose of the integrated Sena but read multiple reviews that it was no good (after I purchased it 🙄) so I went with a side mounted Bluetooth unit.
Is the integrated Sena unit any good in your opinion?
@@garryrooney9636 I think it's great overall though I only use it for listening to music on my phone and answering the occasional phone call. Sounds great for both, in my opinion. My side mounted Bluetooth unit wouldn't stay attached because of the shape of the helmet. I miss being able to charge my Bluetooth unit in the glovebox in the middle of a ride when it goes dead and the voice assistant interruption is annoying when I'm singing along, but other than that, I'd definitely recommend.
Still got the first Neotec. It is the best helmet i ever owned. Fits like a glove and super comfortable.
I love it

Love my modular helmet. Will absolutely buy another. Yes it’s heavier but I got a strong neck!
Hi, when u were at cyclegear did you try the sedici sistema ii? What did you think of that? Very budget friendly option got me curious
Like mine have a G Max ! They said not to do this but I painted the bottom 1 !/4 of clear shield so when riding into sun can pull clear shield down and block sun at horizon, pull all the way down and see just fine, be sure your not blocking your peripheral view on sides when doing this! Tape off first and scuff up inch to be painted use plastic spray paint! Use tinted inside shield for sunglasses and ride into sun without discomfort, love it! Use bottom painted part to raise and lower with no finger prints!

very practical for me for sure

Enjoyed the vid... Just wanted to share a tip. If the two metal lock pins use a nut to secure it to the helmet under the liner do this. Remove liner, unscrew pin, put blue thread lock on pin and reinstall. I lost one pin that became loose over time. Almost impossible to find a replacement....
I'll keep an eye out

I was planning to buy two helmets, one for long rides and one for city riding. That being said i first thought of 1 modular and one half face. But since the biggest concern with modulars is their very own moving chin/jaw protection, I might instead buy a full face and a modular.
Good video. My Arai full face helmets are great but I love my Neotec II for exactly all the reasons you mentioned.
thanks

Glad to see you get a Modular helmet, I think they are the most practical while offering about the same protection as full faced helmets !
I only wear in town or during low speed practice. Not out in the twisties anymore
Excellent video! It is also a surprising video because I have never seen a video on this topic. I got a modular helmet as well and to be able to drink water when you get to a gas station when you are doing a long ride and not have to take it off is a plus. Some believe that a modular helmet is not as safe as the others any thoughts about that. Also, the bike you got off of in this video what kind of bike is that? I like it. Thanks
It's obviously not at safe as a full face...but like anything, we all have our own level of risk we're willing to take. It's a 2020 Honda CRF 250l Rally
Love my LS2 modular. I picked mine because the chin guard actually goes all the way back to the rear of the helmet when flipped up allowing you to use it as an open face at high speeds on those warm days. Can’t do that on the ones like the Shoei that only flips up 1/4 of the way.
I wouldn't want that feature

I have rode the world in a Schuberth C3/C4/Now C5. All the same and whatever makes you happy. Anyway, I also put a Pelican Air on back of my bike -- how did you mount yours? Curious?

I have two modular helmets, and despite the noise levels, which you can fix with earplugs, I love them. I like being able to take a drink of water at the lights, or not having to remove my helmet when I going to pay, after putting fuel in the bike.
One one has an inbuilt sun visor, but I still like my other one.
yes!

Need to order it. After an almost near death crash while wearing my Arai Quantic, I want another Japanese helmet and I think this fits the bill perfectly. Usability of an open-face and protection of full-face and with the Shoei brand trust.
I've been using modular for 3 years by now. To my mind it is the best option for daily street riding. Do not want to switch to anything else.
:)
MotoJitsu.com for my app, books, merch, affiliate links, discounts, etc.
I initially purchased a Schuberth C4 modular helmet - it’s been fantastic, however after some hot Summer days the liners needed a good wash, so also purchased the Shoei Neotec 2. The linings are easier to remove and fit than the C4, however the sun visor is disappointing as it’s doesn’t filter the sun enough and it’s also much noisier, even with earplugs in. Shoei definitely much better padding/fitting. Weight is pretty similar for both helmets.
:) I liked this one more...but whatever works for you.
I got the same helmet in yellow/black color with the sena com set,i got it almost 3years now and its great.i payed 699 euro in august 2018.The sena com set cost 299 euro here.
I bought a HJC RPHA 90s Carbon for winter and touring riding, but began riding with all the time now. I did so because of its light weight and price point when compared to the Shoei Neotec, the Schuberth C4 and the AGV Sportmodular.
Even with the HJC Sena 10b communication, it was still less than the aforementioned helmets without communication and certainly much lighter than the Neotec. Many riding buddies that own the Shoei complain about neck pain after riding all day from the 1780 gram weight compared to the 1305 grams of the RPHA.
After a 3,000 mile tour, my only complaint was it's a bit noisy with the vents open and the face shield down, but the ventilation was quite good. If you're in the market for a modular helmet, you'd be remiss not to check out the HJC.
I checked out almost every one...this was my fav.
I have the original Neotec modular helmet, great fit really great helmet. I do have an issue that the Neotec 2 now comes prepared with side cutouts for integrated Sena Coms and I have Cardo Packtalk Bold which will now not easily transfer to the new helmet, unless you fit the unit towards the rear of the helmet.
:)
Been riding daily with my Neotec 2 for a year now on a CBR1000RR. Works so well with glasses. Revzilla wasn’t wrong when they called it the Cadillac of helmets!
I agree

Yeahh great choice dude. Been riding with that helmet for a year now only the red white black version. Best modular helmet you could have picked! If you are ever bored look up how shoei helmets are handmade. There is a nice youtube vid by Bennets i believe. You might find out why it costs this much money. Enjoy the ride.
thanks

Another thing with modulars is the ability to remove and put on the helmet while still wearing your eyeglasses. Downside is the shape of the shield/helmet is more round and in the rain, water tends to pool in the middle of your vision plane unlike fully face adv helmets that are sharper shape and flows water off to the side
yes!
Hey I love your videos! May i ask what brand and model is your jacket in the video? Thank you!!
Klim
I have and love this helmet. Same thing happened to me. Walked into CG, asked for an all white helmet, this one was sooooooo comfortable, never took it off.
:)
Quality helmets are all good. Just make sure your helmet fits you. My first helmet was modular but the wrong head shape (I had to add a head pad to make it areas dy) and it allowed too much wind. As it was just as a starter, I put up with it.
Next helmet fit. It happened to be full face and highly visible. Down side - no drop down sun shield.
of course, buy a helmet that fits lol
MotoJitsu.com for my updated app, books, merch, affiliate links, etc.
I can't imagine having any other type of helmet than a modular one for every day riding. The comfort und practicability cannot be beaten. But for the track it does make sense to have a full face helmet; I assume they are a little safer than modular ones. Question mark.
Also, funny thing, somewhere in the middle of the video I thought "does he wear earplugs?" and at the end you already answered it. :D

Nice to see Shoie got on board. I really think modular helmets are great. Although I'm guessing they're still banned at the track. Maybe that'll change.
You look like you're Air force more than Marine now 😉👍
I have separate track gear.

I believe this is Shoei’s fourth modular helmet. There has been the Duotec, Multitec, Neotec 1 and Neotec 2. I’ve had the Multitec and Neotec 1. My head was a bit too long oval for them so I got an Arai Signet-X last year. I really miss the convenience of the modular helmets. The Neotec 2 might fit better than I thought, but it is an expensive gamble to hope that it is comfortable at the end of the day. The Signet is comfortable, if quite noisy, after 800 miles.
Awsome video about helmet. Just curious about the comm system you use on it. Is it cardo or the built in system sena like with a sherberth?? Luv your posts!! Be safe 👍
cardo
I also bought a modular helmet this year after years of riding with a half helmet as I realized that I should have better protection. I got the HJC RPHA 90s. Looks like it is pretty similar to your Shoei.

@@MotoJitsu Yup, got the gear and wear it always, including a hi-viz vest, led lights, brake light that flickers when first touched and I practice in parking lots as a part of my ride virtually every single time I go out. I practice good road strategies and try to look ahead and anticipate possible threats. It was just the helmet where I have been delinquent! Love your channel! Thank you!
I have had a Bell modular helmet for the last five year or so, there a lots of pluses to owning one as you have highlighted. However, I find mine quite noisy at higher speeds. 🇦🇺
PS. Love your work! 🙌🏻
:) Thanks
Hey Eddie, what are your thoughts on airbag vests? Do you use them at all?
I have one that's built into my track suit.

Also went from full face to modular this year, chose the schuberth C3. Was torn between that and the shoei, might get this next.
:) this one fit my head better

I never thought that you'd buy a modular helmet because of a compromise in safety, but modular helmets imo are a Godsend in comfort
Yeah, me too
They’re very comfortable until you hit your face on the pavement hard enough to have it pop open during the crash. Just ask my cousin. His face will forever be changed.
But what is the little bottle of oil used for the latches?
Im planning having modular helmet to replace old open face helmet.
I'm found it funny, some model can be flip to back of head. Another one not to flip but removable. But l prefer yours. But dang It's rare ltem in store.
I have a Shark modular helmet which flips all the way to the back & It's legal to ride with it open, but ones like in this video are illegal to ride with it open & the wind resistance would be dreadful. The downside with mine is it's noisy & I'm not comfortable with ear plugs.
You may also try Nolan N100-5 modular helmet. It has exactly the same features (vents both front and back), embeded sunglasses (that are adjustable - Shoei does not have this feature by the way), space for eye glasses (because some of us can’t see properly without them), microlock (just like Shoei) and a release mechanism that prevents accidental opening in case of an event (you need to pull 2 buttons in the same time). Please give it a try if you have the chance because i think that you would be surprised. Ah, i almoust forgot: Nolan N100-5 it’s cheaper than Shoei Neotec 2 :-)
No desire to try a new helmet since I just got this one.

I own three helmets but since i bought my modular it is the only one i wear. It is so much easier to put on and take off and i also enjoy the sunshade feature.
it's flipping awesome!

I bought this helmet about a month ago - coupled with the SENA SRL, it's the perfect helmet.
Wait. In my experience the non replacable battery will give up the ghost in about 6 months
I have had one for years.....it is the style that I prefer. Thanks for sharing.

What ear plugs do you use? I’ve been riding for about two months and i feel that’s the wind noise is getting louder as time goes by with my modular helmet. Thanks!
I have the NEOTEC II in use for 2 years now - simply the best helmet I ever had. Two disadvantages for me: the weight, it's quite a heavy bowl, and the price >600,-€). In every other aspects it is stunning: comfortable wear, silent (compared to other modulars), very good use, all buttons at the right places and it is certified for open and closed wear while driving. And the greatest advantage is that you don't have to take of your helmet at the gas station (at least in times when you don't have to wear a mask...).
:) I love it. I don't notice any weight.

I had an MT while my wife had an HJC Modular...Whenever we were on a long ride i used to envy her, as I had to take off my helmet and while she will just flip it up for a drink....Finally I got a Bell modular. I like whites too...I really like the Neotech 2 ...and from the reviews its far less noisier than the Bell...
I love it so far :)
