  • This video provides the pros/cons of the various resupply points on the John Muir Trail. The Northbound route in particular presents a number of challenges....which may or may not have forced me to haul 8.5 days of food over 151 miles to Vermilion Valley Resort.

    I’v never Thru-hiked but have done some sections on the JMT and we were impressed with Reds Meadow.

      Yes!! Red's Meadow was super cool. Sounds like there's alot of bears around there too!

    I don’t like leaving the wilderness so a quick stop at MTR to pick up my resupply and charge my electronics works for me. If you have a car you can stash a resupply in the bear boxes at Onion Valley. Check to see if this is still allowed. I really enjoy Kearsarge pass and the Foxtail Pines that grow there.

    I have hiked the JMT a few times, I resupplied once at VVR and once at MTR. My vote is for VVR hands down. VVR is geared to hikers, at MTR they want you to pick up your resupply and leave.

    • @ChadLubinski
      @ChadLubinski  3 года назад

      That's EXACTLY what I've heard and experienced for myself at VVR. Very sad that MTR doesn't do a very good job relating to hikers

      correctomundo. All MTR wants is your money. They "give" nothing. VVR is a place of good, positive, vibes and experience.

    Great videos man!!!
    We're planning on meeting a friend at Onion Valley Campground, and then doing another resupply at VVR. We heard Kearsarge Pass is gorgeous so we thought we might as well take the hit of a 14ish mile day and get more food sooner.

    • @ChadLubinski
      @ChadLubinski  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately yes….unless you add 14 miles (7 miles out and back) and go over Kerasarge Pass and get a shuttle to the Mt. Williamson Hotel
