    I always recommend people invest in a cheap dehydrator. For the 15 bucks you spend on one mountain house you can make many tasty meals that blow away the store brands.

      Definitely have been weighing that option! How long does it take to make a couple weeks of meals?

      @@ChadLubinski It depends on variety, one recipe with yield about 8 to 10 dinners,. Figure about an hour of prep and cooking and another 10 to 15 hours of dehydration. 20 bucks of ingredients will get you 8 to 10 dinners and they taste great. Check out the hunger hammock hanger on RUclips for recipes. I have been doing this for years.

    Corn Nuts & Cheez-its for snacks and CBD Chocolate at night are my go-to! I've also been de-hydrating my own dinners for a few years now and I'll never go back - cheapest, lightest and most customize-able option (in my opinion).
    Going NOBO this year end of June! Thanks for all your tips & videos

      @@ChadLubinski I love making and dehydrating hearty bean soups with lots of spices (supplemented on trail with some naan pockets for carbs). Another favorite meal is a farro (or rice) base with chickpeas, sweet potatoes, beans, spinach, sundried tomatoes, and hummus powder to tie it nicely together. The best fruits to dehydrate are bananas, pineapple and mango (at least those are the ones I've been most successful with). Don't do blueberries, takes way too long haha. I have a pretty cheap dehydrator from amazon, but if you get one with variable heat settings you can experiment more with meats (I'm veggie so I haven't tried that). Bonus tip: to save weight on plastic, dehydrate toothpaste drops! Hope this helps :)

    What's your favorite trail food??
    *Also wanted to add that I take a daily multivitamin, Vitamin C, Glucosamine, fish oil, ZMA, and CBD - totally worth the weight IMO

    Moo caffeine, nice, thanks! I was wondering if there was a dehydrated version of a Sugar Free Red Bull 😂. Spam FTW! I like mine tucked into a pita pocket so the juice doesn’t get all over the place

      Ooooo interesting!!! I'll have to try the pita thing. I usually get them by the slice which is SUPER expensive!

    I've had this on my bucket list for a while now. Thanks for the detail on what to pack and how to plan this one out! Did you use a spreadsheet to track calories ahead of time? Were you worried about tracking calories burned on the trail?

    • @ChadLubinski
      @ChadLubinski  3 года назад

      Hey thanks Clark! I did use a spreadsheet! If you want to email me at clubinski10@gmail.com I can give you the template for it when I create another for the TRT here in a few weeks.
      Wasn't worried about tracking cals on trail, probably because I don't do it in real life haha but will be definitely packing more cals for latter part of my next thru hikes

    Lara Bars: I have to laugh. I'm also sick of them and have a million left. I kept buying boxes on sale at a bargain market. Thanks for the other tips.
