Way over estimated how much food I thought I was going to eat. The resupply points are good because you can donate any excess stuff to fellow hikers. so maybe it pays to add a little bit more in case you need it.
Well done!! You are a PRO!! You are going to have an amazing trip! As always your videos are informative and fun to watch. I Appreciate all the time and effort you put into everything you do. Enjoy your time out there man!!
Looks good nice job. I know for me it seems to take several days for my hunger to kick in, and I end up packing too much food for the first few days. Those TJ’s coconut strips are the best. Have fun out there!
Very Well Done! My hero. Especially like the Yankees sticker and reflective tape on the Barikade. Good idea on the peanut butter and jelly in the plastic jar. Thanks for the info on packing the tortillas! Did you go with Skurka's calorie consumption, or did you go higher based on calories burned per day?
Thanks! In my preparation, I added a few extra calories per day to Skurka’s formula because of my weight compared to his. Everyone’s caloric intake and output per day is very specific to the individual, but his formula is a great place to start! Nick
I have a small keychain phillips head screwdriver which I hang on the back of my pack. It is round like a nickel on the hole end. This doubles as a coin for the bear can and to tighten up my trekking pole screws. Very few people carry anything to tighten those screws if they loosen up, which could cause serious injury if they slip. Also be careful where you store the used TP bag. Rodents will chew into your pack and and the bag and spread the dirty TP all over the place. Yosemite park ranger told me to double bag and put in bear can at night.
Man. Great food choices. Trader Joe’s has some good stuff. Grab the dehydrated mandarin oranges if you see em. Crazy good. Out of curiosity, what’s your calorie/weight ratio? Good stuff bro!
My Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is 2092. You can use this link to check out yours. It gives you a good place to start. www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmr
Sounds like a great strategy. Well thought out. I like carrying the individual pre-wrapped prunes since they have a lot of potassium. Also, I found a great article on the MSR website discussing how thru hikers nutritional needs are different from marathoners. Here’s the link. www.msrgear.com/blog/nutrition-for-thru-hikers-part-1-food-for-fuel/ Can’t wait for the follow-up video. Hope you’ll cover what worked and what you’d do different based on your experience. Onward!
This is one of the most helpful videos I have seen in this topic. Especially the locations of your food pickup. Thanks
Hope it helped! 👍
Awesome video Nick! Super thorough and well planned.
Thanks AJ. Let’s see if I eat it all!
Did you eat all that food or did you have any uneaten left?

Well thought out food supply. Can’t wait to follow your hike and it was nice to see you help out Frozen with some Trail Magic very cool 😎
Thanks Ron! Can’t wait to get out there!

Can you please send me the link to the calorie calculator that you used? Thank you.
I’m not sure of the exact link but if you google calorie calculator a bunch will pop up!

Thanks! I can always leave some food in the hiker boxes if I packed too much! Better to be looking at it than looking for it!

Very good info!! Thanks. I’m definitely going to take precautions so my TP doesn’t get eaten by some pesky critters!

Very good article! Hiking is great... it gives you a reason to eat whatever you want!!
Thanks for sharing!
I don't see any hard candy? it's not a hike without some simple sugar ( werthers) on the uphills :)
Come on bro! You know I got some after you mentioned it! No waffles though!! Lol
Triple Nickel Outdoors I’m just sassing I have too much time on my hand. Now, get up to the cats the blueberries are popping
How many servings of the mountain house chili mac?
I believe each bag comes prepackaged for 2 1/2 servings. I just took it out of its packaging and put it in a Ziploc Freezer bag.
@@TripleNickelOutdoors My apologies, I meant the granola and breakfast skillet. I'm assuming 2 servings plus the Nido.
Yup. That’s what it is! Add in my morning cup of Joe and breakfast is served!
Are you going to tent or hammock along the trail?
I’m currently in the process of editing my Gear load out. Check back soon to see what I’m carrying!! 👍👍
