  • Hey ya'll,
In this video I am showing you how to spot a person addicted to crystal meth.
DISCLAIMER: These are only points that I've personally experienced. You cannot generalize it and have to see everything within a certain context!
Here are the points that I brought up in the video
    1. finding the drug itself
    2. drug paraphernalia
    3. rash erratic changes of mood or behavior patterns
    4. asking for money or borrowing money/ items
    5. feeling like the person is hiding something

I was in a relationship with a crystal meth addict, he was manipulative, could get violent, emotionally abusive, and the next day extremely charming. It took me a very long time to understand that drugs were involved, he lied that he had trauma in the past and that's why he said he had constant mood swings

    • @JoshBruin77
      @JoshBruin77 Год назад +3

May I add, it could be possible that he had trauma as well. I know that most addicts use, due to trauma, but not always. There is no precise specificity, in terms of what compels an addict to use in the first place.

    • @-PureLove-
      @-PureLove- Год назад +6

@@JoshBruin77 He lied that he had "trauma" from his ex-wife cheating on him and that's why he said he was abusive to me, constantly yelling and accusing me of cheating (I never even thought of doing it). In the end it turned out he cheated on me with several women, his ex-wife never cheated on him, and he used crystal meth in his marriage and throughout his relationship with me 😑 I get what you said about trauma, but this was just a cunning psychopath addict using fake trauma as an excuse to abuse me and to get his way

15ish years of daily use, I’ll spill the real beans.
Hyper focused on things that are not important. Either insanely clean or filthy- one of the other.
Super productive and creative, then they’re introverted like crazy.
Extreme weight loss, and get ready for it…. Weight gain. Yes, I gained a good bit of weight. Yes, you do eat… it isn’t just malnourished people.
    Crazy amounts of sugar intake.
Does the person smell like new car, leather and kinda sweet? Then they start sweating and they smell like cat urine?
    Alarming amount of urination?
    Frequent random nose bleeds?
    Constant sinus issues?
    Insatiable sex drive?
    Random small arm/leg twitching?
Burnt thumbs? Raw thumbs? Candles everywhere? Butane lighters? Cotton balls?
Wild anger mood swings from nowhere?
Lack of fear? Not cautious about risks?
Any combination of these are a problem.
This poor lady is trying her best, but luckily she didn’t get too involved, obviously.
When I was a user, you wouldn’t have known unless I told you. I promise. I snorted- shot- smoked every single day for over a decade. No “meth” mouth, sunken eyes, lost jobs, literally anything.
Physical deterioration isn’t from the meth chemicals themselves. Rotting teeth- not brushing. Kidney failure- no water.
Heart/brain issues though… can be prolonged but not forever.
Oh, forgetful of words very often and slurring speech.

I just broke with my girlfriend of 8 years and wife of 1 year. She has been using crystal meth since the beginning of the relationship. I never noticed her addiction. In the end she told me that she gets it for free without having to offer sex or paid for it. She recently left the house because I saw a text on her found from another guy telling her " goodnight! Babe". I kick her out of my house and now she is homeless and leaving in an RV with the person who sells crystal meth to all the homeless addicts. It breaks my heart and I feel extremely guilty. Its just not easy to be in a relationship with someone who is addicted to crystal meth. She was very lovely and very romantic. I missed her very much. I hope she gets better.

"Meth Mouth" or rotten teeth is caused by the malnutrition and dehydration, yes, but also because of the toxicity of the chemicals used in the production of the drug as well as lack of good hygiene habits. Users either actually forget to shower/brush teeth or they are in a position where doing so is very difficult like being homeless.
Meth users are very erratic, their emotions change quickly. Some do pick their skin, but not all. But they are "jumpy", they don't sit or stand still for long periods of time. Users also have a difficult time with being on time. "Tweaker Time" is the term they use for this. A user could promise to be somewhere by 1pm and it could be 30 minutes to 3+ days before they show up, if they ever do. Weight loss is most common but I've known several men that don't lose weight on meth. But, I've never met a user that didn't have the sunken cheeks, bags or dark circles under the eyes and/or increased acne.

Severe Bruxism brought on by use of potent psychostimulants also causes tooth decay, chipping, and occasionally tooth loss.
So Bruxism is another reason "Meth Mouth" can occur even when proper oral hygiene is practiced during Meth use

One thing I noticed with a girl I was with ….meth addicts are also very dependent on prescription drugs like klonopin (benzos) to ease or calm their urge or high and will over use their klonopin. these prescription drugs are just as bad if not worst then meth or heroin.
They become very functional on klonopin but once that wears off it’s like their brain shuts off they feel guilty and they fall back to using meth. It’s a cycle that an addict goes through. They are nice to you they seem normal maybe even free spirited someone that you can relate to in someway but then they become needy they will use your own words against you make YOU feel guilty then they feel guilty and use meth to coup with it and then take some pills so that they can feel like nothing ever happened and then it restarts over and over.
I felt bad for her but mostly very disappointed in myself that I allowed myself to get caught with her lies and manipulation. She would Make it seem like I was the aggressor. But looking back I was mostly upset that she chose the drugs meth, heroin, alcohol, weed, and her prescriptions over a meaningful life. Such a waste. She WAS very talented very beautiful but her sanity was declining rapidly……I just couldn’t be around that anymore. It was affecting my mentality it made me question myself and I ultimately had to let go that no matter how much I try to help or how much I tried to care it was never going to actually help her but rather keep her going back to using over and over. So I left.
At some point ,the addict, makes it easy for you to let go by letting themselves get caught so they won’t have to explain anything to you anymore. They show you who they really are and what they are dealing with. It’s the most disgusting drug on earth and you you have no choice but to walk away from them. It’s a that point when they show you who they really are you will never see that person that you met the same way again you will only see the addict that they are and they will have ZERO respect or a feeling for you.

The pain is more excruciating that narcissistic abuse pain.
Because at least in narcissistic pain you can walk away knowing the person can't love.
In addiction they can love, they're just chosing their addiction over your love.
I'm hurting so badly inside and your comment felt like you were speaking directly to me.

No. We have feelings, and they are real. And genuinely care, but functioning on the same emotional level, consistently as someone not on the same roller coaster, is next to impossible, and the frustration from this for both parties becomes insurmountable for either party. Often times. Everyone's different.

I’m sorry to have hear about your situation, I have had no contact with my husband for over 1 years. My husband from whom I am now separated began to consume methamphetamine again after being sober for a few years, but this time due to the formulation of the drug he became very delusional and this happened immediately. He accused me of things that I have never done and could never do, he accused me of being unfaithful with mutual friends that we have known since childhood and of being unfaithful with friends of our son, and people from his own family. In addition, the things he would say were so strange and incredible, in general. At first I was confused, but then I realized that I was in denial, in denial that he was back on meth. But when it's your loved one, you put yourself in denial, and you don't see it, and you can't believe it. His parents and his family still deny it, they don't see it because around them he acts quite normal and hides it well, it's not noticeable unless they know what the symptoms are and also unless he unleashing his anger, spurts of anger that he gets sometimes. They tell me that he’s better now, and off the meth, but I don’t believe it to be true, because the only time he would stop meth was when he would be incarcerated and was basically forced to go off of it. It breaks my heart because I was with this man for almost three decades, all thrown in the trash, all because of his addiction. I would like to help him, but because he believes his delusions, he doesn't want to know anything about me, and has cut off all communication with me, it’s been over a year now of no communication. Also due to his drug use our son completely cut off communication with him, because he is so mad at him for using again. The drug definitely affected him differently this time around, he became delusional very quickly, but also this time he actually goes out for a run daily (I know this because his mom has told me) he also talks about God (which is good), but sometimes he would say strange things about God, of which I don't think they are very Christian. But he says that he believes a lot in God and that he leaves everything to God, and that he was chosen by God, that he’s one of God’s warriors, an angel. I don’t know if anyone reading my comment can help me understand, but is it normal when someone is using meth that they speak about God, that they exercise, that he sleeps (because when he used in the past he would be awake for days)and that he actually eats? In the past when he used meth he would not sleep, eat and especially talk about or bring up God. I’m so confused that at times I think I’m the one losing it, this drug is definitely formulated differently now, just to see how quickly it affected my husband and how it affected him this time. I pray for anyone going through this with a loved one, my heart truly goes out to you!

I think it has a lot to do with how young you are when you started using. The younger you are your brain is developing still so if you start using it becomes wired to want the drug much more than if you started when you were older. IMO if you start younger, your brain wants it and will do anything to get it.

A person can easily display none of those 5 signs. Some people can completely have their ducks in a row aside from the usage. Some addicts/habitual users can play out their habit/addiction by being impeccably in order. They may prepare you a delicious dinner while meticulously and quickly cleaning knives, cutting boards, measuring cups etc... between cooking steps so that everything used to prepare the dinner is clean and put away before it is served, concluding with them taking your dirty dishes away and washing them immediately after eating before wiping off the dinner table. The inside of the refrigerator can be spotless and organized, floors, sinks, and countertops all pristine and wiped down with Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap to keep insects at bay. Then they do a quick once-over wiping down the entire bathroom to provide a clean relaxing environment for you to relax in as they draw you a bath with eucalyptus epsom salt, lavender oil, and 1/4 of a mildly aromatic foaming bath bomb. Afterwards you emerge refreshed from your bath and head to the bedroom to climb under the perfectly wrinkle-free puffed up comforter. You go to sleep, and they come to join you sometime around sunrise.... unless of course that particular night is "romance night" in which case you will also be up until the witching hour and happily wake up late for work a couple hours later.

The problem is that everyone is told that being an addict is bad. Most people have this precinceived notion that addicts hate getting high. That they don't really want tobe high and that's just not true. Addicts get high because they want to. It's not wrong. It's just how one person deals with emotions and specific life situations. Everyone thinks addicts are bad people and someone everyone should steer clear of. Which couldn't be further from the truth. When you meet an addict know that you are meeting one of the strongest people you will ever meet on this planet. The people that are always saying to stay away from addicts and that addicts are this or that. . . Those people have most often not had any but of a rough life. Rough lives are what makes someone incredibly strong. Think about it. The ones that have had life just easy. . . That's the weakest link. Addicts are true warriors of the world.

The ways I identify my stepfather’s meth addiction is with mostly psychological symptoms. Physically he doesn’t lose much weight or have decaying teeth, so you wouldn’t be able to notice it from sight alone. Instead, he becomes emotionally colder, argumentative, sees everyone and everything as a problem in his life, cleans excessively, and goes several nights without sleep. His personality changes dramatically under the influence of this substance and has caused great damage to relationships with most of his family.

@@Chantalthiel I appreciate the comment. At least in your case they were more charming and friendly. All of my stepfather's pain came to the forefront and out in the open when he was on meth. He also would not stay at home with his children, which is obviously quite common when you're addicted to most substances. The addiction and people that came with it became his life. I will stay strong through all of this. I have learned how to handle him when he's behaving that way until he cleans his act up or has to move out.

We also had a lot of physical altercations... I wish he was just deteriorating from the outside instead of within.... What about you moving out or are you too young still? @@Chantalthiel Yeah, meth is a horrible drug that changes a person from the inside out. All of the things you described him doing to you is what my stepfather would do to my mom. He would get paranoid and grab her phone. He would leave the house to go “run an errand,” when all he really wanted to do is get high with his fellow addicts. He would lie and constantly deny about his drug abuse, then suddenly blame the stress others put on him as the reason why he relapsed. It’s a lifelong battle for those with addiction, but myself and anyone else dealing with a person like this has to look after themselves. An addict will fight tooth and nail with you to protect their addiction and continue using their drug of choice until they are sent to rehab or you walk out on them. Everyone’s rock bottom is different. Everyone’s triggers are different. I try to understand that about him as best I can because it helps when there is support around them. He’s caring, likable, and comfortable to be around, but when that other side comes out after using again, it can be a living nightmare. I’m so sorry you had to endure all of that, but I’m really glad you did what was best for you. It’s always important to take care of yourself first.
My situation is bit more complicated than most. I’m physically disabled and have nowhere else to stay currently. I don’t feel like he will harm me but being around his destructive behaviors is extremely unpleasant and stressful. I’ve had conversations with a couple of my relatives if things get out of hand again, so I’ll go wherever I have to in order to stay safe.

Not the reason as in you are pushing her to do it, rather maybe you are enabling her because you support her no matter what. Support sometimes comes while taking care of yourself first. Hi. I'm a daily crystal meth addict I use it intravenously and shot up 3 times a day. I want to quit but the problem is whenever im trying to quit, ill be throwing fits of anger at anyone, binge eating lots of carbs and having weird dreams. I don't really mind the anger as long as nobody purposely get my nerves and the dreams, but i can't stand the binge eating. I was overweight before using meth and primary reason for using meth is to lose lots of weight. I did lose weight while using meth but im afraid of gaining back weight.

Hey there. What makes you afraid of gaining weight? It's a normal part of being sober, at least at the beginning. Try to focus on sobriety rather than your weight, since that is always temporary. Maybe find a way to balance it out with workouts, different past times or different choices of food while you are staying sober. All the best to you!

With your experience, maybe be you can enlighten me. I have had no contact with my husband for over 1 years.

I love how people in the comment section and people who use drugs in general say I used drugs and nobody knew.
Allow me to say that people do know and they are aware that you abuse drugs, however it’s not for us to judge or mention it.
Secondly it’s your own life to live and nobody cares if you do or don’t do drugs.
I can tell if someone has used and will never say a word about it or let on that I know.
The other persons drug use has nothing to do with me.
either way if it makes you feel better about yourself of others don’t know, then so be it.

This video seems strange to me. I live in very rural area. And I suppose things of changed dramatically in the years since you made this video. The meth cooks have disappeared since Mexican cartels have started supplying it and it is all cut with fentanyl. The tweakers here…you can spot them as soon as you see them. I was away and they broke into my house and relived me of about $250,000 worth of property. Thus, I have been going out and interacting with them. It is fascinating to me how similar their personalities are so similar. They simply cannot tell the truth about anything and even when they are spun and seemingly uncontrollably manic, just a bit of aggression from me turns them into simpering wretches who can do nothing but try to make me feel sorry for them. Strangely, my anger has subsided and I do feel badly for them. I just lost some stuff. They are losing their lives.

The good news is that you CAN quit and get your life back! You just have to truly want it, and - more importantly - be willing to make the sacrifices and changes needed to get clean. That means staying away from all drugs and alcohol, and staying away from people who are getting high (which is one of the hardest things you'll have to do).

The number one thing I’ve noticed about the way they move around is how they kind of jerk & twist while walking or shifting their posture.
Its difficult to describe to anyone who’s never seen it, but it appears as though their torso is ‘lagging’ behind their hips/legs when the move around, & their arms somewhat flail around.

I don't know if you will see this comment, I have been searching for what meth smells like? and You Tube suggested this tonight, but your description of its smell didn't tell me much. When my windows are open at night I smell an acrid rubber chemical smell occasionally, im trying to figure out what it is, and meth or crack is one of the many possibilities? Can you explain the smell of meth better so I can either rule it out, or continue on? Thank you for your time.

    • @Chantalthiel
      @Chantalthiel  4 года назад +4

Hi there, my ex tried to hide it a lot but the problem for me was that I met him when he was already addicted so the behavior seemed normal. This is where it comes down to gut feeling or physical signs like picking on skin or not eating much, not having to sleep. You will find many more online. Also initial signs are not as evident only that the person may seem more energized and can get a lot of things done seemingly. Maybe they might ask for money but many can also afford it initially. I hope this helps.

He's very sensitive, always lashes out, starts fights for no reason, never touches me or hates when I touch him and super paranoid etc. He recently told me he's never sober, but I'm confused because his eyes are never dilated, he eats a lot and doesn't steal. Hey there, first of all thanks for watching and reaching out. Not every person needs to have the same symptoms, maybe his body is so used to the drug that his eyes don't dilate that much anymore and I also know people addicted to meth who kept eating. Stealing is always a sign of desperation to me at least and it has a moral component. A person could be addicted to drugs in general and never really have to steal a penny in their lives. If someone already tells you they are addicted to meth just take it at face value and work with it however you see fit. Not even some small part of me.... it just upsets me to think about. I'm no longer a heroin addict. You can leave addiction behind. The only reason people tell addicts that they will always be an addict of this drug or that drug is because 12-step programs tell them these things erroneously. You can put opiates in front of me and I will reject the opiate 10x out of 10

@@evamoore2297 perhaps it will for some people but I think a big part of that is this 12-step culture of addicts telling themselves they are "addicts for life". I honestly don't think that fixating on your addiction 24/7 makes it any easier. All it did for me was keep the addiction alive even though I wasn't using. Being able to distance myself from the addiction and the other addicts who came with along with it was the best thing I had ever tried. I went in and out of 6 different rehabs that just kept pushing me further down this 12-step road where I'm sure to be told I'm completely powerless over my addiction and that that I'm and addict for life, and how medically assisted recovery was "just trading one addiction for another", etc. But once I left NA I finally realized that the program was WRONG about all those things because I relocated away from stomping grounds, started taking suboxone and the rest is history. I'm coming up on 12 years without having even a single temptation to used heroin. The hardest part is just getting to that point where you can distract yourself from the addiction long enough to forget it was there.

+Jasmine Blue I'm so sorry to hear that! Hopefully, he's gotten clean since this message and started making positive changes in his life.
If not, please just try to remember that hard drugs like meth will make people do and say things they normally wouldn't otherwise. I know that can be difficult, especially when the person is hurting you or your loved ones with their actions. Hopefully, when and if he does get clean, the damage won't be irreparable and you'll be willing to forgive any mistakes he'll have made.
I never was strung out on meth, but I was badly addicted to heroin and cocaine for many years, and I did bad things to people I cared about (mainly my family, and mainly involving stealing money or stuff I could sell), things I would NEVER do now. It consumes you and pretty much controls you, to where the only thing that matters is getting high. I imagine meth is the same exact way.
It took a while to have a good relationship with the people I hurt, but they gave me a second chance and I've been so blessed to have them back in my life. A lot of people never get clean and never get a second chance with their family and friends, so I know I'm lucky.
I just hope your husband gets through this and still has people who love and care about him. Judging by your message, it sounds like you do care about him and want what's best for him. Best wishes to you and yours!

*All in all, i liked the vid and that it was super informative but then i also noticed that you paused a lot, thinking what to say next, especially towards the end there.. So one advice that I'll give you here whenever doing such videos, especially when recording yourself, talking infront of a camera, giving such long detailed interviews on stuffs, is to always prepare in advance, a list of things that you'd be saying during the talk.. Like you may just write it down on paper, just note down all the main points there, and whenever you'd blacking out, just have a quick peek at those main points that you highlighted there and you'd then instantly know what to say next or know the things that you missed, which like this the moments of you taking these small embarrassing breaks to think and all, would be pretty much non existant hehe.. And i know that you had well prepared yourself up ahead, of all the things that you had to say for this particular vid here, you had all the things memorized and maybe you practiced couple times before but then when it came to doing the actual vid, when time came for you to record yourself and getting into it, you just happen to black out from time to time smh, which is very understandable as not all of us are blessed with some super brain skills and very good memory, so there's just no shame into writing down all of your main points, if not literally everything in details on paper and then checking them out from time to time, just so that you'd then be able to do a very good video of you talking infront of the camera on such topics..* 🙂🤗

There are many ways to do it. Dont be fooled that if someone has powder or Crystal's that they aren't shooting it or snorting it. It can be crushed and mixed with water. You do NOT have to have any items in order to use meth. Theres also hot rails which can be done with the stem of a pipe. If your stomach hurts or you're not hungry and notice feeling antsy it can be a sign you've gotten contact from someone smoking around you. But you do NOT have to have a pipe to smoke from a foil. I can relate. My now estranged husband started doing meth again after being sober for a few years, but this time due to the formulation of the drug he became very delusional and it happened immediately. Accused me of things I’ve never done or could never do. Also the things he would say were so weird and unbelievable, in general. At first I was confused, but then I realized I was in denial, and that, that I’m educated and have a degree in this subject. But when it’s your loved one, you put on your blinders. His parents and family are still in denial, they don’t see it because around them he acts pretty normal and he hides it well, unless you know what to look for. It breaks my heart because I was with this man for almost three decades, all thrown away due to his addiction.
So I just pray he can get the help he needs to get off this drug and recover. 😢

It costs $20,000 to clean an apartment just from a little meth smoked in it. We had to rip down the drywall and dispose of appliances. They told us that the chemicals longer years after on objects that are penetrated with it. So imagine what it does to the body it’s nasty stuff.

On the contrary, I wanted by ex-finance’ to stop using he was so abuse physically especially so I NEVER wanted him to get back high because when meth users are high there is that phase stage where they are a beast, not themselves, it happens every time he got high! So absolutely NOT, I never wanted him high when he was coming down, I know I would have to pay the consequences he fathomed in his mind!

I’m sorry to have hear about your husband. I have had no contact with my husband for over 1 years.
