      I see the sarcasm, and as a lover of the art, I feel your pain. 2 things: Real DJing will never disappear. You can always choose to revert back to DJing with vinyl, CDs or USBs. But on the flip side, innovation will always happen. Will it look the way we want? Most likely not. Will it be the norm for the kids that are born now: absolutely! Let's look at our parents and grandparents that have opinions about what we, the DJs do: "That's not performing music". "That's nothing compared to live bands". Me personally, I don't want to become such a generational hater. And so I take the innovation as it comes and see if there's a way we can use it to our advantage and maybe show these kids that we can do incredible stuff with this too.

    • @dejantetickovic4478
      @dejantetickovic4478 2 месяца назад

      I would like to hear the inovation, right now we only see it. More technology does not result in better musical experience. But yeah, we can always revert to say that we need to go with the "inovation". Could it be that we confuse djs with engineers or even scientists? I thought this whole thing was about music and feelings it gives to the people. Guess I was wrong the whole time...

    can we get an in-depth look into the mixtour pro? It would be really interesting to see how to control 4 decks, switching between cues and stems control, adjusting bpm (maybe even nudging). It would be amazing to get some insights directly from you and how your preferred djing workflow influenced the mixtour pro layout

      Absolutely! And to be really transparent, it's very early days still. The unit we showed has been only (barely) ready for 2 weeks. So we have until June to perfect it and I'll be testing it thoroughly in and out of the studio. Before it comes out I'm also planning an In My Mind with it and what not. Plenty to come! : )

That will blow Rekordbox out of the water any day, so I think it's good to focus on that, regardless of the hardware. And obviously my opinion about the Mixtour Pro is that it's a perfect unit that is catered to my style of DJing. It's mobile, it's pro. It should be no hassle and it's cheap. But if anything: Do you! And whatever makes you enjoy DJing most and gives you the most flexibility is what counts!

    Hey Luke. What’s the relationship of the effects vs the filter knob on the original mixtour? If you have an effect on but turn the knob - it will change the parameters of the effect rather than filtering (for build up techniques for instance). Did you map the controller differently to do both filter and effect or is filter available with only some effects (like reverb) vs echo where it changes the echo parameter when turning the filter knob?
    Btw, I love the tempo change assist. It allows me to move around the mix more efficiently when putting together a set. Add in AI beat gridding and suddenly I’m more worried about playing the best song at the right time rather than worried that I can pull off the transition right for the listener or crowd. .02

    • @laidbackluke
      @laidbackluke  5 месяцев назад +1

      Rob, this is a GOLDEN comment! I hope everyone is reading this, let me quote you: "Btw, I love the tempo change assist. It allows me to move around the mix more efficiently when putting together a set. Add in AI beat gridding and suddenly I’m more worried about playing the best song at the right time rather than worried that I can pull off the transition right for the listener or crowd" - THIS.... puts the human back into the AI. And THIS is what people often miss nowadays: Playing the right track at the right time is ESSENTIAL. Thank you for highlighting this. In regards to your Mixtour Pro question: The Filter Knob and the effects are separate now. The FX are on the FX pedals and the Filter is only a filter now. The parameters of the FX are handled by parameter buttons now and the dry/wet of the FX can be altered by the big knob in the middle. Feels like a huge improvement with more control. But let me think about what you said. I might have an idea thanks to you : )

    Hi Luke. I hope you can help me. What I haven't been able to figure out in DPAI is what if I want the right side track to continue to play at 136 BPM and I even have it playing at 136 BPM before hitting the crossfader, no matter what I do, the fade always completes at the new track's original BPM 134, not the BPM I had it set for before fading 136? Is there a way to pull this off. Essentially I want the destination BPM to be 136, not 134. Thanks and cheers.

    • @laidbackluke
      @laidbackluke  5 месяцев назад

      Sean yes! Just turn off the Crossfader FX! Alternatively, you can go into the DJAY settings and under "general", scroll all the way down where you find "sync mode". Make sure that just says "sync" and NOT "sync + tempo blend". And then you should be good!

    I just saw the qbert namm 10 min b2b. Such a cozy little jam! I just have a few doubts: when you do fader play up n down shouldn’t one ‘always’ have fx on? I think it get a bit empty and dry in the cutouts. Also: i always wondered why Luke doesn’t use at least a small iPad. Even on the biggest iPhone those knobs get pretty fiddly. I mean in that reloop case an iPad mini would probably fit(?) any advice?

    • @laidbackluke
      @laidbackluke  5 месяцев назад

      That's a great question! And that's more of a DJAY FX type of thing. That's how they have their echo programmed. But they have a ton of FX there. I've always enjoyed the Delay FX on the Pioneer Mixer which was super super dry, literally no feedback or tail. Why I don't use a small iPad? That's the same question as why you don't use a small iPad when you're out say, in your car. Or doing banking while you just got gas. Or taking this last minute meeting while you just ran inside your car after getting a coffee. In daily life we use the phone and we don't think about these options. We just use the phone. That's my stance here in DJing too. I want this to be a daily experience for me. So I deliberately walk up to a stage, take the phone out of my pocket and go an DJ. So far I've had no desire for any bigger screen : ) But that is of course my own preference!

      I can understand why you feel that way. It's very different right? Can you imagine the looks I got from Vinyl DJs when I came into a club with a CD folder back in 2003? They said it was ridiculous. It had nothing to do with DJing! So I don't know your setup but say it's Serato. I remember Serato breaking through and a lot of DJs thought bringing a laptop to a club looked ridiculous. Like, are you checking your email?! Now it's normal. If you're on CDJs, ask yourself: Are we still using CDs in our cars? No, we stream music from our phones in our cars. And it's normal. No one thinks it's ridiculous when you are in a car. Why can't DJing be about streaming music from your phone? For me, the phone is a brain, just like the laptop is for Serato. So maybe give this some thought and hopefully you can see what I see. Thank you for leaving this comment, I want people to see this and see my response : )

      The mixtour controls 4 decks. There are buttons to switch to decks 3 and 4. Once you activate one of those decks, you are able to control them with the faders, knobs, and pads. When you are ready you can switch back to the previous left or right channel deck (1 or 2).
