THANK YOU!! I literally tried one time and all the other videos try to loosen the right side lower mounting bolts which are VERY DIFFICULT to even get to. I couldn't so I gave up!! I was quoted $350 from the dealer just for labor! Then I came across your video and saw that EXTEMELY useful trick of removing the rear left side bracket mount which allows to pull the manifold to the left side. NO OTHER VIDEO I SAW EVEN SHOWED THIS!! Thank you for saving me literally $350!!!

Did my 160k km/ 100k mile tuneup based on your vid. Thank you!
For everyone else, here were my challenges:
-the 13mm bolt at the left rear bracket was rust-welded to the stud. But the stud came out with the bolt just as easily so no issue
-the top PCV valve bolt stripped (cheap plastic). Need to take to a shop. So no PCV replaced yet
-coil electrical connectors not easy to take out (stuck). Gotta work at em.
-you don't have to take off all the alternator wires but it is easier to work at the rear if it is out of the way. The intake plenum can swing to the left just enough to change the plugs
-ALL vacuum hoses stuck. Used WD40 at the connectors and had to tug hard on the hoses (learned the WD40 trick from mr. Pike 👌).
    Thanks man for the vid!

Incredible video! I followed these exact steps with my 2014 Dodge Charger SXT because I needed to change a spark plug and ignition coil and I was able to get the plug and coil changed easily and quickly. Mr. Pike was also spot on with his description of the coil stem showing a white pinhole/ring when it throws a misfire code. My old coil had this ring and pinhole exactly as described. My car seems to be running perfect again! Couldn’t be happier with the quality of this video. Keep up the great work!

Also a 3/8 set work fine on a 2017. You're right about all socket and wrench sizes. Keep up the good work, with video's.

You saved me at least $400, at a minimum, from what the dealer was going to charge me. It isn’t just the labor, they wouldn’t accept the job unless I got the parts through them…. Then there was the way the service guy warned me about a common lifter problem these engines are having (an issue I know was not happening to my sons engine) as though to prepare me for the additional expense…. When I hung up the phone I immediately felt as though I was about to get screwed.
It’s always better to do the work yourself if you can. No one else will care as much about the details as you will. And this job, while initially daunting, was actually very simple when using your excellent video as a guide.
Really, this is one of the best how to videos I have ever seen, nothing is left out.

Much appreciated Ken. Its always cool to get feedback on the videos......also doesnt hurt when its a positive as that lol. I actually made that video in a way that it covered 3 repairs.....the plug replacement.....the oil filter housing replacement....and the oil pressure sensor replacement. Which means.....expect 2 more.

Very well done, David. Just did maintenance on a 3.6 Jeep a few weeks ago. Can't believe how much Chrysler has detuned that engine in a Jeep. A loaded Caravan with a big mama onboard would blow it's doors off.

Its cool to see that they are pushing 300hp almost out of that v6. Thats more then the older 5.2 and 5.9 gas v8 engines we use to run.

    • @mikel.laughridge9480
      @mikel.laughridge9480 7 лет назад

The Ram 1500 version of the 3.6 puts out 305 hp. It does a remarkable job. I pull my travel trailer with it and I does just as good as my f150 with a 5.4 v8 did. And with MUCH better gas mileage.

@@MotorCityMechanic I just wanted to say, ever since I've owned my Journey (2013), you've given me the one piece of confidence I lack at times and that is torque sequences and specs. I don't know why manufacturers make it so hard to find them. I'm lucky and my local parts guy at the dealership has no problem printing me off such things.

Used this video to change plugs on my 2014 grand Cherokee summit 3.6L. Small things were different but for the most part it is spot on.
Prior to starting make sure you have:
    New plugs (duh)
    Anti seize compound
    Electric grease
New gaskets for the upper manifold( part # in video)
    Lots of sockets/ wrenches
Needle nose pliers, flat head screw driver, rags
    Patience

The best thing is that they extended the service intervals so that instead of replacing the plugs at 30,000 miles.....its now around 100,000 miles. So less often but still more steps for sure. Thanks John for watching and for the comment. Dont forget to subscribe
