Great overview. I think you got the point of this truck. It’s a good starter and you can make it what you want. Your additions already look great. Thanks so much for showing the comparison to your other SCX10 rigs. The Base Camp might not be a licensed body but I think it looks fine. And that colour suits you!
@@ChrisGorman87 HI there...So what's up with this "congratulations, text me @ these numbers thing?" Doesn't sound like anything RC Girl would do without some explanation in her video. Thanks for what you found....
@@michaeledmonds3027 yes so she never mentioned it and I went through texting the number just to get scammed. Glad I was able to help you not get scammed.
@@ChrisGorman87 Thanks....The same stuff is showing up in several popular RUclips channels. Warnings are starting to be issued. Seems there's no end to internet fraud! Take care....
Moving sucks. Thanks for taking the time to make the video! Some things I don't like about this truck but I see the potential in using this as a base for building a very solid crawler. Take care!
Following up a year later! Still own and love my RTR Basecamp but now they just released a kit version! And of course I pre-ordered one! I have many rigs, some relative ones I’ll mention, JLU 10.3 kit, Basecamp RTR, VS410, TRX4 and the SCX PRO. The SCX PRO is the best performing (of course) but for me I think the Basecamp is the best performing “regular” scale crawler. The Basecamp has better balance, COG and approach angles AND better electronics. This is just my personal opinion and experience. I also love that the new Basecamp kit comes with straight axles and DIG, I specifically wanted those from the start. So excited! 😁
great review! I've seen a lot of people move the front bumper out to address tire clearance but my backyard course was giving me approach angle issues with that, so I took a dremel to the back edge of the bumper so I could pull it all the way back in, and did the same with the rear, and it's getting hung up a lot less.
Conformal coating goes on parts you don't want electricity to flow across. For this reason, it goes on the circuit board. What you did instead was to effectively make the prongs less conductive to the plugs. It works because you scraped off enough coating to make a contact when you plugged in your esc & servo.
Hey Hayley, I haven’t seen a post from you in a while. I’m watching in the hospital, but been working lots weekdays and weekends for a while so maybe I just missed your posts. I’m not able to fly my planes for a few months. Had surgery to repair and fuse 5 cervical vertebrates. Riding motocross, enduro, in my younger years and 1 crash back in 1999 on my street bike caused major arthritis. If I’d known what it would cause I probably would have been less crazy on motorcycles. I still love them but haven’t ridden since 1999. Keep all those awesome videos coming. I’ll have lots of time for RUclips at the moment.
Awesome. I forgot to mention how nice this truck is. If I wasn’t so hung up on my 47 airplanes this truck would probably be my preference. Thanks RCGirl!
Just preordered mine in gray! Can’t wait! I think this will be the best scx10.3 platform by far, I will probably find a nice hardbody for it though. Looks really good 👍🏼

Love it. Most likely I’ll get one too since I already own the JLU and Gladiator. Great review video and love the extra parts you installed especially those little mtb’s.
Great vid as usual, truck is ok out of the box, I wish it had inner fenders, and a grill that could accept lights later on, and rear light buckets would have been nice also, and no receiver box I think is crazy....but I know you will make it so cool....and I guess I will have to do the same if I would buy one...I love your bike rack and bikes that's the coolest accessory ever....👍👍
Conformal coating (the nail polish like water proofing) should be applied to the entire circuit board by unscrewing it and taking the receiver apart and coat both sides of the board.
Great Review and Video! Love the Color! I wonder when the Kit will come out? Well, I see you're the Real Deal now modifying the truck before you are even done with your unboxing video! That's what RCing does to you. Good Luck with your move. I hope you have a good Workshop and can Find Everything.
Awesome video 👍 love watching your videos. I love to bash,,lol kraton exb 6s. Just picked up the wraith 1.9 , and absolutely love it. Totally getting into the crawling scene.. alot of it, is because of your videos and the great time doing it. Never thought id like going slow. Thanks rc girl, you rock keep up the great job.
Hey! Havent seen you for a bit. Nice to see you again. Axial make a good rig. I recently purchased axial drives shafts for a 1/24 hobby plus crawler, good price too. I'm likely to buy an axial rig now.
Axial/Horizon needed this. I have four Horizon RCs but I run Traxxas batteries in all of them because I STARTED with the economical Traxxas TRX-4 Sport, battery, and battery charger in 2019. If Axial can win the new buyer as Traxxas won me three years ago that's a sh*tload of Smart Batteries and chargers Horizon can potentially sell.
I seen a few of my subscribers, including Axial had uploaded videos on this new rig all at the same time, but i decided to come here first. Great review, and it looks like a great rival for another popular, very similar looking truck :D. With that conformal coating though. Did you just apply it over the prongs on the receiver? It only shows that part in the video. But for it to be water proof, you need to remove the PCB board from the plastic case, then paint a generous coating directly to the PCB board. I do this with mines / BECs etc then hang them overnight to set properly, then refit the board back into the receiver case. For the pins, i use some dielectric silicone based grease. It's electric friendly grease and won't harm plastics or rubbers, so it doubles as my grease for shock o rings as well.
Aw shucks, thanks for stopping by! Yeah I was pretty lazy with my waterproofing. I didn't take the receiver apart and coat the internal parts, but good reminder!
RC girl great video the truck looks really nice maybe pass onto axle about the body post they can raise them a little bit raise the body up instead of having to trim it keep up the great work
I just picked up one from a friend. I had an SCX10 III Jeep Rubicon kit before, but I thought it was kind of a dog. Too heavy. This should be a fun rig, much lighter and simpler.
I've watched you a number of times, you're pretty awesome I was just wondering how many RC vehicles do you have if you don't mind sharing that about a lot of us wind up with quite a few
Great review as always! I always enjoy your videos and good luck on the move. Im leaning towards the green body. I wonder if Axial is planning to release a raw builders kit of this since they discontinued the 10.2 kits.
(8:28) - well... there "might" come a point, where you need 4-different servo configurations !!! 😉👌 Maybe a "dig", (after) tearing-out that boring (O.D.) Transmission, say "also a 2-speed trans. !!! - Plus, say a (Winch)... ..."it seems" we just might "WANT" one of those too !!! 😂👌😉👍😁
Finally back, weeeee. Must say, that body of the rig looks pretty basic, not to say cheap. If you need to upgrade or ad all the things you suggest , it might be better to buy a different truck alltogether.
A quarter inch on either side to add to the width---including on the wheel arches, might have been ideal, ---on the trail, it would facilitate easier flexing of the tires into the wheel wells, it (upward fkexing of rollers into wheel wells), does look good on rc rigs, ---couldn't there have been a truck bed? ---that would make it a keep sake.
Great review video on this truck. Also great job on printing out the bikes in resin. I have a FDM and resin printer which have helped a ton in the hobby. What resin did you use on the bikes?
This was printed in cheap/fragile resin when I was first learning so I need to redo it. I've been using a 4:1 siraya tech fast gray & tenacious mix which seems to be doing the job
