Congrats on getting pre-release access now! That's huge! I'm not a crawler expert, but this truck seems incredible for an entry level. The lines you were taking seem nuts. Once you throw on some brass knuckles and the tires are broken in this will be amazing! Great review!
Nice review here, Logan. I've been enjoying your work this past year. You're very easy to listen to and I am envious of the amazing terrain you have nearby - it's just beautiful! Keep up the great work!
Great video, Logan!! I’m stoked you’ve got day one reviews coming out now-stepping into the big leagues 😎 watch out Harley and SBG, WDW and HNH are out to getcha! 😂
Love the vid with the combo of static shots and driving. as always, your narration is great. Stopping by Sand Hollow in a couple of weeks, can't wait to run on those rocks.
Unfortunately... The adjustability in the "wheel base" isnt quite coming from extending any links to extend the wheel base... The extension comes from the chassis rails and they are already maxed out. If you moved the rails back one more hole position then you will actually pull the last mounting holes on the 2 part chassis away from the 2 front skid plate mounting screw holes, You will still be able to screw everything together normally but the rear frame rails will only be held in by only 2 of the total 4 skid plate screws and wedged in by the c channel, ive never noticed any negative effect from it but its something to consider
Nice! Seems like a solid, no nonsense Rig for a good price. Looks like it performed really well for an RTR with zero mods. I think this was a great move by Axial and it will be a good platform to build from for a lot of people.
It’s base camp morning up in here. Just watched 2 others… by some guys who claim you’re gonna be on a podcast with next week. Lookin forward to that more than this truck, but a kit version would be pretty cool.
I know I'm super, super late to this, but I just picked one up as they were clearing them out to make room for the updated Base Camps, and my receiver is in a waterproof box. No idea when they started doing it though.
Running on the sand stone is a good time , I'm just a little South of you in Vegas and we pretty much have the same terrain.. It's pretty cool you're on full time now pumping out awesome info.. Might be time to make A-day run out to San hollow...
A solid rig! 👍 Performance is pretty damn good, it has decent rubber (they look great!) and a solid electronics package. Happy to see they did away with the esc/receiver combo. The body is 'ok' - the side windows are a bit small and I don't like that they use stickers? The bumpers look nice but are going to interfere with clearance - too bad. The gearing in the transmission looks to be spot on and I expect it will be durable. Removing the dig simplifies things and probably won't be missed (although, I love mine)? People are already saying it's a Traxxas clone but there are only so many ways to skin a cat so, a bit unfair. I know many Axial faithful will be unimpressed but, overall, a great way to get into crawling, good price and tons of potential! Thanks for the video! +
Great opportunity to do a beginners modification series. Take it over the same obstacles each time and talk through what the mods achieve and if they are worth doing. Have some that the truck can't do box stock and gradually tweak it until it can do them.
Brother you are a awesome driver and youtuber 👏. I have watch mennyy of your videos. And well done very informative and the places in Utah are so beautiful. My next cross country trip I will be making a few stops to stretch my rigs legs 🏜🏔🛻🍻
Great Video and of course you make it drive well. Seems like a bit of weight in the front and a different tire/wheel combination would make it complete. We need a drive off -this, a TRX4 and an Ecto. Box stock my money is on the Ecto. If you were going to put the same tire on all to make it fair what would you choose?
I picked up a new Base Camp yesterday, awesome truck! FWIW, mine has the receiver in a waterproof box. Maybe since yours is an early one sent to you by Axial, it was kinda pre-production? Does your gray one you got for drag racing have the box?
Always enjoy your videos. This truck was a major let down for me though. I get what hey we’re trying to do but the body was a fail. Looks like the wish version of a trx4. I know inflation is up and this truck is running portals but I bought my 10.2 Cherokee for $340 brand new. Grant it’s been a couple years but at $340 it at least came with a nice body. Now if they offer this as a builders kit less body, wheels and electronics I’d be interested in that. I like how they are going back to a basic vehicle. No 2spd or dig. Less slop in the trans. Keep making great videos.
hey man im so envious of your landscape haha. im a cold canadian. if given the choice would you prefer trx4 sport axles or scx10-3 portals. i have neither but looking at building a portal truck with either of these axles. thanks dude
@@westdesertwheeler be even better if Axial would just give us a KIT!!!! Keep the garbage electronics. Keep the glue on wheels and hard tires. Keep the ugly poorly proportioned body and give us a true base to build on. Call it the Boot Camp. 🤣
Great review! I’ve been a fan of your channel for about a year and a half! I’ll be in your area the week of May 16th, any chance I can join you on the rocks? Andy of the NorCal RC Crawler Course
Yes it has been in limbo while I put a custom body and bed cage on it and swapped it to straight axle with rock pirates parts. Full build but takes time and money
- I would be pretty-sure, Josh at "Harley Designs", (and the "rest of Vanquish") will be designing an aftermarket - "DIG" function, for your NEW TOYOTA-ISH "10-3" !!!! 😯👌 "🤘😎" 💪🇺🇸
- "I LIKE THE NEW (4-mm)... {smaller} Stainless Steel LINKS (7) of them. ("as usual" - S.S.) Great overall, just not totally happy (myself) with the little things/"maybe, - major" stuff)...(IDK...) !! ?? 🤔.....!?? 😁 💪🇺🇸
Another weirdo transmission from Axial. Its 5 gear but not really. It has the ability to run portals or straight axles when you switch around a gear set. I would think this setup is probably better than the original 10.3 transmission. It doesn't have 2 speeds, but the original 10.3 trans hardly made a difference between the 2 speeds. Not sure why they abandoned the 3 gear transmission. It would be nice to be able to throw one in without buying from other companies.
A Main Hobbies affiliate- Axial SCX10 III Base Camp! alnk.to/4qGJbeL
..."WAIT"..... IS THIS "AXIAL'S" (ACTUAL)...BASECAMP...!??? ...😯
...just kiddin'.....
This is probably the best review of the SCX10 III that I have watched!
Thank you!
Lowkey, really wanted to see the dog get that Lizard 😂

Yeah, there's room for All of them.
Stoked to see you got a pre-release of this Logan! can't wait for the ding-dong livestream drop in next Wednesday lol! cheers!
Thanks so much, happy to get the opportunity as well! Always excited to bring the viewers new content especially on new trucks
This is why I always come back to this channel. There are running videos. Grey to see this truck out there performing
Love the vid with the combo of static shots and driving. as always, your narration is great. Stopping by Sand Hollow in a couple of weeks, can't wait to run on those rocks.
Great and fair review of a good truck. Excellent video footage too. Love the dog chasing lizards for a smile.
Thanks for the video!
I need to get back to Utah, haven’t been able to the past few years. It’s so gorgeous.
Great video Logan! I really like the way axial went with this rig! Perfect base for a great performing truck!
Exactly! I’m excited to put my spin on it
I love my scx24 's and i want one of these next !

super cool rig looking forward to getting it
Nice truck. Lots of possibilities. I like that.
Just ordered one of these, can’t wait for it to arrive, they seem like they preform well.
I like the way the rear bumper raps around on the sides.
It’s a good looking rig. Thanks for the look. I think with the right upgrades it should be awesome.
Great video thanks for all the info on the basecamp

I agree with every word you said

Hi Logon I'm so happy that you have this TRUCK to review. Haven't watched any one else video. Waited hoping for this🇬🇧🇺🇲🕊️✌🏼👍🏼
Thanks as always Mike! It’s been a solid performer so far I’m excited to push this ones limits

This looks like a great option to get me into Axial Fest!
Great job sir!👍🏼 also happy to see you received the best color of the three.😏😁

Sand hollow is killer and Logandale is fantastic as well. Maybe we’ll bump into each other and a Logandale comp

This needs to come out in kit form. Nice review Logan.

Yup, now it's on point, release day reviews from probably the best rc wheeler on the internet, although that's only cause I'm not on there hahaha 😉
First decent rig Axial has released since somewhere around 10ii times. 😎 back to the basics 👍🏻
Great review Logan! Love the VooDoo Blue version! This rig will make for a great base for custom builds.
Hmm… is it voodoo or cavalry???
I'm starting to like it more and more!
It’s very water proof I drove it across a river near my house it is perfectly fine
Thank you a lot your videos never disappoint
Definitely my next purchase!!

Do you think the tires would be good with work I think they they look really good
I like it seems like another TRUCK soon to be in my collection 😁✌🏼
Wish they made the tires in softer rubber and softer foams out of the box.
I picked up a new Base Camp yesterday, awesome truck! FWIW, mine has the receiver in a waterproof box. Maybe since yours is an early one sent to you by Axial, it was kinda pre-production? Does your gray one you got for drag racing have the box?
Welp.. I might have to get one after seeing this. Use the ar45s on a flat rail build and put the straight axles under this one 👌🏼
I think I may end up straight axle swapping this as well. Make it hug the ground a bit more for the real hard lines
Those are the axles I need for my UMG!
For 390...looks very cool. Think a kit will be available?
You mentioned bigger links from a 10.3. Where would I find the bigger links? Thanx...
Would you recommend this axial or the TRX4 sport? Can’t quite decide!
Solid either way.
I think I’d get the base camp to use as a parts truck if I ever get into building trucks. Like for the axles or the transmission.

Axial axles for sure
It’s a great truck other than the shocks-all 4 of my shocks leaked their oil out all over my truck & made it a filthy mess.
Which would you buy first, this Basecamp or a ecto
One has trailing arms based off a 10.2 and one is a basecamp
That's awesome 👍 I like the look of it
Awesome review Logan🤙
Good vidéo 👍
The tires are so bad ?
I think the TRX gets the nod in that category…but nice to see Axial in that market.
(10:39) "That" - was a pothole !!! 😆🤣 ...[NOT] AXIAL'S FAULT. 😉👌
...driver (multi-tasking)....... "minor error" !!! 😆👍
Logan, is there room for a HW Fusion size motor to fit in the space?
What do you think about the CrossRc emo xt4?
Can you do a side by side with this vs trx4 sport I’m on the edge about both
thank you for the content !
Looks like a great “base” to build a custom rig on!
That is exactly what these trucks will be popular for
@@westdesertwheeler be even better if Axial would just give us a KIT!!!! Keep the garbage electronics. Keep the glue on wheels and hard tires. Keep the ugly poorly proportioned body and give us a true base to build on. Call it the Boot Camp. 🤣
Where is this at. I’ll be going to st George in a few weeks and want good places to drive.
Definitely not the same Falken Wild Peaks that come on the Early Ford Bronco. These seem way nicer.
I agree

2:36 that dog is so not scale, you need to find smaller figurine 😅
does this esc have a active drag break? or does it free wheel as soon as you press the throttle?
Seems like the spindly links was a corner not worth cutting.
Would be great to see the raw builder kit form of this though!
The standard 10.3 links thread right into those rod ends. I swapped mine over
I like it.
Is that a smart esc and display the battery gauge on radio?
This does not have the smart tech
trx4 sport stock ,.. and base camp stock ,.... what this car is better performance, durability ,.....?? sorry my ingles !!
What do you think of the tires
I think with some real beadlocks they could do pretty well
When is release date
How much tuning is needed on the base camp to clear the mouse trap? Ha ha!
Looks like a tacoma. Great looking truck.
The bed does. The cab, not so much.
8 months later… do you still have the base camp?
Yes it has been in limbo while I put a custom body and bed cage on it and swapped it to straight axle with rock pirates parts. Full build but takes time and money

Not a fan of the body personally. But it would be a great entry level, like you mentioned.
This brand new Axial is the competitor to the Trx4 sport, but the Traxxas one looks higher quality.
Axial gets bonus points for the metal panhard though!

Trx4 sport copy
In my personal opinion, the truck looks cheap and toy like. If you're going to spend that kind of money, you may as well get a TRX4 sport.
A TRX4 sport looks exactly the same with toy like axles. Sport is painted windows and no inner fenders. Very similar.
