Here in the U.S., there are scammers listing vacant homes for rent on Craigslist. The thieves will go to the house and have the locks changed and then show it for rent and ask up front few months' payments for a discounted price. Also, there are scammers renting Airbnb properties and then showing the property as for sale or rent. Recently I saw on youtube, they had these scammers selling a house using the real owners' identity with a fake driver's license, etc. and the real owners were in China. First of all, never send payment to anyone without seeing the property. If it sounds too good to be true then it's a scam.

Taiwan also have, beware. Not too sure about Korea but definitely also have in China though I have never rented in both living and growing up in Asia.
